Looking forward to breakfast on a shady patio lunch by you own private pool? A glass of wine on the balcony, watching the sun set? Then Cypress Tree Villa could be the perfect spot for you. Set within lush and peaceful olive and lemon groves above Arillas and close to the village of Kavadades in the North West of Corfu. This detached split level villa was built in 2010 and is furnished in a modern contemporary style. The villa is an ‘upside down’ arrangement built into the hillside to maximize the stunning rural views with the sea in the distance. There is a private pool and large ‘wrap around’ balcony to let you follow the sun or find a shady spot. Upstairs the patio doors retract into the walls creating a large open indoor/outdoor space designed to provide a stunning dining and relaxing space with views of the wooded valley and the sea beyond. The villa’s stunning pool is accessed from both levels and again offers views to the amazing countryside and distant coast. The villa has free wifi.

About Diane Laws
Tom and Diane Laws. We live in Dumfries and had our property built in 2010 after holidaying in Corfu for many years.
Diane Laws purchased this Villa in 2010
Why Diane Laws chose Agios Georgios
We have always holidayed in the North of Corfu and love the sandy beaches on the West coast. We bought the land after falling in love with the tranquil setting but also it's close proximity to some small resorts such as Arilas.
What makes this Villa unique
We will be using the villa for several months a year with our twins and want to make it a home from home for both us and our guests. So we hope we have achieved this by building a real house with pool and also set within a short distance of the conveniences we need such as supermarkets, restaurants and the beach while still keeping a quiet setting.

Lovely villa and surrounding area of Arillas amazing pool perfect peaceful relaxing holiday
A wonderful holiday
The villa is laid out in an ‘upside down house’ arrangement - because the villa is built into a slope the main entrance level is also the upper level, with a terrace/balcony. The bedrooms are on the lower level with their own terraces. As the living area is above the bedrooms the bedrooms are kept in the shade, so are a very comfortable temperature to sleep in. There is air-con in both bedrooms, but we only used it in one, on occasions, even though the daytime outside temperature was in the 30s.
The terrace/balcony which opens off the living/dining area is very large and the views from this are wonderful. We dined on this, read our books.. and spent much of our time at the villa here.
The rest of our time in the vila was spent around the pool - either swimmings and plashing in and out, or on sun-loungers under the shade of two large umbrellas.
The villa was very well maintained, with a ‘cleaner’ on hand to deal with any problems (we spotted the beginnings of a wasp’s nest one day, mentioned it, and it was gone the next)
The wifi (as required by our teenage son) was good.
The villa is set in beautiful countryside, but is only about 10 minutes drive from some lovely beaches. Agios Georgios beach stretches the length of a large bay, with tourist facilities at one end, petering out to not a lot more than beach the other end.
Arillas, on the other side of the headland and a little more touristy, is a similar length of drive away.
One day we walked the “Arillas trail” http://www.arillas.com/trail (walk on up the track past the house, turn left onto the road at the top and you will see one of the red arrows marking the trail). It is very well signposted, on reasonable tracks and paths, an 8km loop to Arillas (where you can stop for a drink/lunch) and back.
The village of Afionas is also about 10 mins drive. A ‘traditional’ Greek village with stunning views at the top. We walked to Porto Timoni beaches by the footpath down from the top of the hill - quite hard work in hot weather - especially coming back up. They are very beautiful, but were surprisingly crowded.
We dined at Anemos Taverna in Afionas twice, lovely food, great service and a stunning view.
The small supermarket, which is about 5 mins. drive away, had everything we needed and we had a couple of good meals in the local taverna, Mon Amour, with is 5 mins walk away from the villa.
Thank you for the lovely review. We did design the house to maximise the views from upstairs and to keep the bedrooms a little cooler downstairs, glad to hear it works. The area is beautiful with lots to do but not too touristy, you do feel you are in the real Corfu
Lovely Villa in the Most Idyllic and Peaceful Location
We have been holidaying in Arillas for many years and had a lovely relaxing stay at Cypress Tree Villa at the end of May. The rolling views down through the olive covered valley to the sea from the Villa are truly beautiful and can be seen from every level. The soothing sound of bird song, cicadas, bees and beetles were the only noises to punctuate the silence. We were very pleased with the newly installed wifi which was fast and far reaching and enabled us to keep in touch with our family at home. The nearest Taverna at the end of the road, the Mon Amour, serves excellent food but we loved to eat overlooking the sea at Gratsellas Taverna and enjoyed the drive down to Arillas through Olive Groves and farmland. Everything we needed to enjoy our stay was provided and we can't wait to return. Thank you Diane for allowing us to use your Villa.
Thank you for the lovely review. We choose the spot for the villa because we fell in love with the views and its great to hear others enjoy it to. Arillas is a little gem of a resort
Pefect villa in stunning surroundings
Wow! What a gorgeous villa in stunning surroundings. We had everything the four of us needed (2 adults and 13 year old twins) for a relaxing week. The villa was spotless and very peaceful, yet close to lovely beaches with crystal clear water (Agios Georgios being a particular favourite). Mon Amour at the end of the road served lovely food, and the local baker and mini market had all we needed. We also found great Tavernas in Afionas and other surrounding towns and villages. We were delighted there was no wifi. There was however adequate mobile reception if you needed it. A car is essential and it was fun to explore the island. Diane provided brilliant directions from Corfu town and there is a comprehensive information pack in the villa. We had a truly amazing time.
Thanks for your review. We aim to offer everything a guest needs to get the best from this amazing island and this wonderful area. Diane x
A very comfortable villa in an unrivalled setting
We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday in Cyprus Tree Villa. Diane provided brilliant directions from Corfu airport to the villa ( a car is a must) and from the moment we arrived we felt at home. The views are lovely and can be seen from almost anywhere in and around the villa. We most enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the evening and watching the sun go down over the olive groves on the hillside. It's not far to the small but pretty resort of Arillas and also Afionis, where there are spectacular views of the coast and bays. And Sidari is also not far if you want a bit more life. We loved our stay here and miss it so much!
We can't take credit for the views although we did build the villa to maximise them but we do try our best to provide everything our guests could need.
Haven in the trees
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay in this very well-appointed villa in a beautiful and quiet part of Corfu. The owners supply excellent directions and useful information on the area.
As it is on a hill-side overlooking a villa looking down to the sea, it does have steep slopes that would be difficult for someone with poor mobility. Also there is no wifi and poor mobile coverage but everything else for a superb holiday. A car is a necessity.
Great comment thanks. We now have WiFi
The beautiful quiet sandy beach of Arillas is a 5 minute drive away with it selection of tavernas, bars and shops. This is a quiet resort, with a long sandy beach and crystal shallow waters ideal for families. With beautiful sunsets it is an ideal spot for evening walks or a delicious evening meal in one of the many locally run tavernas. The wide sandy bay of Agios Georgios (North) is 15 minutes away and idea for buckets and spades.
The airport and ferry port is 50 minutes drive away and car hire is advisable.
The nearest beach (Arillas) is 2 km away. Kavadades is 1 km away with a small supermarket, bakery and ‘grill room’. There is a taverna within a few minutes walk of the villa.
The area is a paradise for nature lovers with great flora and fauna and walking opportunities through the woods that immediately surround the villa.
