The barn is situated in Turat, a peaceful and quiet hamlet just south of Sarlat and minutes from Domme and the Dordogne river. The property is ideally situated enabling you to explore the wealth of local history and culture of the Dordogne region. The region is famous for specialities such as foie gras and truffles as well as its local and neighbouring vineyards. There are many cafes and restaurants nearby to enjoy however if you want peace and quiet simply relax and enjoy the 16 foot circular pool and gardens of the barn.
We so enjoyed our stay at Le Grange..It is a beautifully renovated barn with lovely furniture and all mod cons. It is in an idyllic hamlet within easy reach of all the Dordogne has to offer. After days of canoeing and racing round castles and gardens, it was wonderful to come home to the quiet of the barn and have a peaceful swim before settling down to a glass of wine and a BBQ.
We have stayed twice since and I am sure we will go again. We have two teenaged kids who were able to spread out in a bedroom each and were thrilled with the speedy internet access. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you
We highly recommend La Grange for a hassle-free, peaceful holiday in a stunning area of France. The property is perfect for families, with 3 large, beautifully appointed bedrooms, a modern kitchen/dining area (we particularly loved the fridge!), and an open plan living area, making it a very sociable space. The outdoor patio area is perfect for dining and lounging around with a book, and the pool was a welcome relief in the August heat.
We holiday in France quite regularly and have found that a lot of the holiday accommodation can be too “rustic” (ie so outdated that nothing actually works…..) but La Grange manages to provide a contemporary, comfortable experience whilst still retaining the warm character of a traditional stone barn.
We stayed for a week, and could have easily extended for a month without seeing everything in this beautiful area.
You can relax by the Dordogne River at the local ‘river beach’ in Cenac (approximately 3 miles away) or Vitrac Port (5 miles). These provide lovely, safe shallow waters for swimming and paddling.
The nearest airport is Bergerac, just over an hour's drive and hire cars are readily available. Brive (Vallee de la Dordogne) airport is also an hour's drive but currently only takes Cityjet flights. Bordeaux, Limoges and Toulouse airports are all around 2 hours drive away. Driving takes around 8 hours from Le Havre and 8.5 hours from Calais/Boulogne. Times are approximate and may vary with season.
