About this property

C17th pet friendly Thatched Cottage: WIFI, Woodburner, Enclosed Garden & Parking

Our grade II listed cottage has been sympathetically refurbished to provide the conveniences of modern-day living whilst retaining the charm of period features: Wood-burner, inglenook fireplace, and wooden beams as well as the WiFi and flat screen HD TV. The ground floor has a living room (with double sofa-bed), study/office/reading room, dining room, and separate kitchen, shower room plus sun-room. The 1st-floor has 3 bedrooms plus an en-suite bathroom. 'Thatches' meets the needs of groups of friends as well as families with or without children and the office space and WIFI make it perfect for anyone needing to work while away. ‘Thatches’ has direct access to its fully enclosed private garden and off-street parking area and is a short stroll away from Williton's shops, pubs, and restaurants. Further amenities are just 2 miles away at the historical coastal town Watchet with its marina and fossil beaches. Sandy beaches can be found at Kilve (5 miles), Blue Anchor (5 miles), Minehead (15 miles) and beyond. This is an ideal year-round holiday or short break destination and a superb base from which to explore west somerset’s many places of interest. We have wonderful countryside on our doorstep, a beautiful coastline nearby and numerous fascinating historic buildings, museums, and other tourist attractions in the area. After a patchy few seasons due to Covid we are delighted to be up and running again. Do come and enjoy!

Port in a storm
After we suffered water ingress in our home we were so lucky to find a property nearby that was available. In all fairness to the owners they had no time to prepare for our visit but the beds were cosy and the bathroom spotless.

August break
As advertised, very comfortable and relaxing, slept very well, weather not perfect (nothing to do with the hosts), but plenty to do in the area, beaches dog friendly.

A family cottage for all
Family and friends stayed for new year. Lovely comfortable cottage, equipped with everything you could need. Even bowls for the dogs who could wonder in and out without any concern for their safety. Beds lovely and comfortable and so quiet. Great pubs within walking distance and 2 supermarkets. We had a lovely stay. Thank you 🙏

Thatches
The property is in great location and has all the needs required, but the property needs attention, cleaning ie cobwebs and kitchen cupboards and garden is a little overgrown, but all in all we had a lovely time.

very comfortable stay
This was a lovely, comfortable property in a great location. The beds were very comfy, and good spaces and the dining area and living room worked very well. The only negatives were the upstars bathroom - the shower, as there is no curtain or protection is pretty much unusable (even being really careful the water inevitably goes everywhere), meaning there is only the downstairs shower for everyone, and the NEFF oven, which was very difficult to figure out and took us some time. We would happily go back again however, if the second shower was fully usable

About the host

Host profile image
We would like to introduce ourselves:
Bob and Liz Whimperley-Dixon. We currently live in London with our young children and two dogs. We have family nearby and had finally found the perfect holiday home in 'Thatches' after looking in the area for about 3 years... nothing ticked every box for us until this became available!

Why they chose this property

There is so much to see and do in the area - really something for everyone for all seasons.

We're a short stroll from great amenities, yet moments from wonderful countryside and a short drive from fantastic coastline.

What makes this property unique

Thatches has direct access to its own secluded garden and off street parking.

We provide generous living space for a thatched cottage - as well as the main living room with a sofa bed, a downstairs snug/office space, a dining room and a sun room, so even when all bedrooms are occupied guests won't feel on top of each other.

Our kitchen is well equipped with quality appliances and useful cooking utensils - a real home from home..and if we don't yet have something we probably will soon - just ask!
