This property is located end of row, forth row from beachfront and is one of the more private villas on the Meliá Resort not overlooked and all-day-long sun, South facing...towards the amazing Llana Resort 😎

It comes fully equipped with air conditioning throughout ( not ground floor bedroom ).

The first floor master bedroom has an ensuite his & her bathroom with bath and shower. Wi-Fi is free throughout the Resort ;)The remaining two ( twin ) bedrooms are each located by other bathrooms. As can be seen in the photos, it's a very spacious airy villa, with comfortable beds. The ample kitchen has everything including the kitchen sink.

The upstairs bedroom terrace has sea views, perfect for a chilled out drink at one of the magical sunsets.

" Penny Lane " is in a very peaceful location just far enough from the many on Resort restaurants, bars, tennis court, swimming pools, piano bars, shops, etc.

And the beautiful sparkling tourquoise sea with endless soft white sandy beach is reminiscent of the Bahamas.

Sal Island is very appealing for sun worshippers.

Most like to sit back and watch the world go by, with nothing to think about other than simply 'fun in the sun'. The whole Resort is now up and running with 7 restaurants, boutiques, eateries, souvenir shops, etc.

Many love the thrill of quad bikes, which can be hired. Alternatively, hire a bicycle, and take it easy exploring. Hire costs about €10 for half a day. Various excursions exist, too, including fishing trips, boat rides, submarine and Island hopping trips.

Wildlife enthusiasts may wish to visit in turtle season ( October ). A brand new ferry service now operates between islands.


The beach is less than a two minute walk away (approximately 150 metres ). The beautiful sandy beaches are reminiscent of those in the Bahamas.

Cape Verde is just south of the Canaries, with a Brazilian/Portuguese/African mix.


Free shuttle bus available from airport 10 minute drive away, or taxis cost €15.

In general Taxis are inexpensive and plentiful, averaging €3 per trip into Santa Maria town. Car hire most people tend not to choose as it is quite expensive. However, here's a handy link:


Santa Maria town is 5 minutes away. Melia Dunas offers 7 excellent bars, including a piano bar, a late bar, spacious classy restaurants to cater all tastes, spas, massage areas, kids playing areas and more

The nearest mini market shop, 'Falmers' is a five minute walk away ( in Vila Verde Resort ).

A free shuttle bus will take guests from the airport in 15 minutes.

There are many shops which sell food and drinks. The nearest mini market is 5 mins walk away located in Vila Verde Resort, called ' Falmers', supplying basics like cereals, eggs, milk, bread, etc.

Tam Tams and Ocean Café bars are popular among many European nationalities, has excellent food, and are centre town, showing all the latest live Sky sports.

There are many more excellent bar restaurants. Melia Dunas offers Unlimited eat & drink packages. Weekly pass offers available too. ATM's plentiful.

Eating out varies from British, definitely some superb Italian to plentiful fish restaurants, serving fresh fish dishes. Brazilian steaks are excellent and well priced.

Sal's tourist nationalities are typically friendly locals, British, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Scandinavian and Spanish in alphabetical order!

Notes on accommodation: Dunas Beach Melia Resort has approximately 50 private Self contained villas. Please email about package prices. The beach is less than two minutes walk away!! The location is great for an array of water activities from swimming to scuba and surfing, tennis, volleyball, kitesurfing, sunbathing, shops, restaurants and bars all nearby. Perhaps, like many, you simply wish to soak up some sun and relax on the villa's comfortable sun loungers, with a cool drink and a book/ kindle. When the sun eventually dips, maybe indulge use of the upstairs terrace and watch a vibrant sun-set over the sea. Outside: Cushioned terrace loungers. Bistro set on top terrace. Outside table, parasol, and 6 dining chairs. Private plunge pool heated naturally by the sun provides for an added luxury. Every day of the year, Sal's climate averages around 25-30c daytime, with pleasant soothing breezes. Generally no less than 16c in the evenings. Utility Room: Clothes airer, Storage area under stairs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Selection of towels and bedlinen are provided. Maid service once per week. More frequent cleaning can be arranged at an added cost. Please ask. Guest beach/ outdoor towels not provided. Other: Extensive sized modern built-in wardrobes (one triple / 2 double) clothes hangars - best for guests bring some of their own. En-suite bedroom 42" LCD wall mounted TV.

Problems with hot water boiler

There were big problems to get clean and hot water in the house.

Hopefully the problem will be fixed soon for other rentals.

Owner's Response: Eva, I'm so sorry that this had to happen to you when you arrived. After 6 years with no problem, the hot water boiler decided to pack up its job. These things unfortunately happen with most things in life 🙄 However, I got onto the case as soon as I could and am pleased to report that future guests now have hot water with extra pressure to boot! Fingers crossed, for at least 6 years 😀 Will offer you a discount on any future stay Eva. Hopefully, as with most guests, you enjoyed the rest of the villa facilities ...and the beauty of Cape Verde 😎🇨🇻 All the best, Andy

Great villa, but….

What a great location. Very quiet with a great plunge pool to cool off in the heat and close to the beach. The villa is very spacious with good powerful showers.

However, we had significant cleanliness issues with the bedding which took several days to resolve. During our stay, we also experienced numerous other issues, some of which the owner was already aware of prior to our stay, but these still had not been repaired after we vacated the villa. Hopefully the new fridge has been installed.

If all the issues were addressed and the property was maintained to a better standard then we would not hesitate to go back, but as it stands we will look for other properties on the same resort.

We have provided feedback directly to the owner, but have not yet had a reply.

Wir würden gern nochmal kommen!

Tolles Haus! Wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt! Man muss nur wissen, dass das Haus in einer riesen Anlage liegt! Wir haben uns die postiven Seiten heraus gepickt (zB Joga, Beachbar) und sind das umgangen, was uns nicht so gut gefallen (riesen Poolanlagen voller Menschen). Dafür war der vom Haus ca 500m entfernte Strand extrem leer und das Meer viele Male schöner als der Pool! Wir würden wieder kommen!

Villa non conforme à la description

Quand nous sommes arrivées à la réception de l'hôtel pour la carte d'accès à la villa, on a dû attendre 3h malgres que nous avons prévenue le propriétaire ! Et quand nous avons enfin eu la carte et que nous sommes rentrés à la villa déception total !!! La maison était sale, les draps pas changer et aucun draps propre ! La cuisine n'en parlons même pas. Et le comble pas d'eau chaude ! Les chaises de la terrasse donnant sur la chambre était rouillée ! Aucun produit ménager et machine à lavée non fonctionnel ! Bref vraiment je ne recommande pas pour le prix on s'attandais à beaucoup mieux ! Nous n'y retourneront plus et nous la recommanderons à personnes !

Maison agréable mais !!!

La description de la maison correspond. Mais pas d'eau chaude pendant tout le séjour (le propriétaire nous propose de nous doucher dans les douches de la salle de sport de l'hôtel où les enfants n'ont pas accès ). Il semblerait que la chaudière soit en panne depuis des lustres. Canalisation des salles de bain bouchée avec des odeurs épouvantables ( propriétaire averti des le début du séjour mais un retour sans aucune réactivité).

En bref on est loin du luxe avancé.

Booking Notes:
Bookings of at least 4 days taken usually with at least 4 days prior notice, although late bookings are possible.
£200/ €250 refundable deposit required. Keys must be returned to Owner, Andrew. This is refunded in full once the property has been checked/ itinerary closed over, and guests contact us on their arrival back home...either in GBP or Euro.

Changeover Day:
Check out time: Usually around 12 midday. However, a time extension is possible, should guests' return flights depart in the evening.

Notes on prices:
Weekly flights from UK airports (Thomson & T. Cook): Please see timetable in photos section ( 2016/17 ).
Alternatively fly to Lisbon, and on to Sal. Daily flights via TAP Portugal.
Direct International flights, too, from Holland, Germany, France, and many more.
Parties of 4 guests or more, add £100 (€120) to rental per week with the max number of guests being 6.
Cleaning midweek incurs additional charges. Washing powder, tea/coffee, toilet rolls guests responsible for buying.

  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
