About Mrs Justine Kavak

We are a Turkish/English couple Melih and Justine Kavak who have been married for 20 years and lived in Akyaka for 11 years. We live in Akyaka and will always be on hand if required to help with local information and anything else you may need. We feel we have the right combination of local knowledge and understanding of what holidaymakers may need to make the most of their holidays in the area. Nothing pleases us more than to see our guests happy and relaxed and enjoying their well deserved break.

Mrs Justine Kavak purchased this villa in 2007

Why Mrs Justine Kavak chose Turkey

We bought Zambak Villa in 2007 and spent the next 2 years restoring the villa to maintain its original character and charm whilst updating it to provide all modern comforts. The location is ideal to chill out and relax with only the sound of birdsong and the breeze in the 200 year old Kavak Tree opposite the villa to savour while floating in the pool.

We also appreciate being near the resort of Akyaka for those that want to sample the local delights of a river or beach side restaurant or bar. This location provides the ideal combination of privacy and tranquility whilst also being within easy reach of a lively Turkish Beach resort. Within 90 mins drive in both directions of Akyaka are some exceptional Turkish natural and ancient wonders just waiting to be discovered.

What makes this villa unique

Zambak Villa is unique as it is partly a restored Turkish Village house with wooden ceilings, internal windows, locally carved cupboard doors and an open fire in the kitchen that can be used to cook in. In this way staying in our villa can give you an insight into the traditional Turkish way of life that still continues in the village.

Of course you can still enjoying all the modern facilities such as a private pool, air conditioning and a fully equipped kitchen which will make your holiday more comfortable.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Zambak Villa has been a perfect retreat - secluded, full of character, in a wonderful tranquil setting. Everything we needed was provided, we will certainly miss waking up to blue sky, trickling water and the rustle of tortoises... Liz & Simon, Surrey - Sept

We arrived late at night and were very grateful for the welcome pack of food basics. When we awoke the next morning to the beautiful villa and valley location we were thrilled...... Lyn & Nigel, Shropshire, August

Most pleasant stay at the Villa Zambak, where we have chilled out in the beautiful hot weather. The villa has been all we could wish for, with some interesting side shows of the local wildlife. Kate & Jim, Sept

As soon as we pulled up outside we fell in love with the villa and surroundings. Everyone we've met has been so friendly and the food wonderful.......

Thank you Justine and Mel for sharing such a wonderful house with us ...Ginny & Stuart, Somerset, Oct

Charming villa set in a forest near Akyaka

  • 5 of 5

If we were any more relaxed after this holiday we would be horizontal!!! What a perfect piece of tranquility. Zambia Villa is a perfect place to unwind and destress from the normal rigours of city life. Set in a forest but not far from Akyaka, this villa has the best of both worlds. Equidistant from Mugla and Marmaris it is perfectly placed for exploring the area, or on less energetic days, lounge around the pool or the courtyard. Something for everyone. Not forgetting Foxy, the resident JRT, who has a kennel in the lane but waits for you by the gate whenever you leave the villa. We'll definitely be back next year.

This is a gem of a holiday villa set in peaceful countryside yet within 15 minutes of the beach. We loved lounging by the pool, listening to the cicadas & enjoying the tranquility - a real escape.

peace, tranquility and a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

I could go on about this villa all day long, so i am :-). where do i start, our holidays are.... we normally arrive unpack and then just travel around and never rest. Not here, this villa is just purely Empyrean!

We arrived on Saturday and was blown away as soon as we arrived, we then went out for for some provisions and a meal at the Big Blue in Akyaka where we met Justine and Mel who are 2 truly lovely helpful people. from there, we went back to Zambak Villa, this is where we stayed until Tuesday (apart from going out for food in the evenings). we spent many lazy days in and out the pool and on the seating area out the front listening to the birds and wildlife all around us. We saw the tortoise twice in the front garden happily munching away on the flower heads that had dropped on the floor. we went out a few times to nearby places Akyaka which is at the most a 10 minute drive from the villa is a lovely little town with boat trips and wonderful restaurants, but in no shape or form is like your benidorm.

The villa itself is furnished beautifully and tastefully everything you need is there. any problems or info you need Justine and Mel are quick to help you out. the pool is cleaned on a regular basis as is the front the garden done on a daily basis.

Would we stay here again......... well we have already booked for next year A truly amazing villa which has given us some equally truly amazing relaxation, while away the hours and some very special happy memories.

Lovely villa in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from a wonderful week in Turkey and would highly recommend Villa Zambak. Its in an idyllic spot amidst the Turkish countryside, but Akyaka with its many restaurants, shops and beach is within easy reach. We loved sitting on the veranda in the mornings enjoying a leisurely breakfast and watching lizards, tortoises and swallows. The pool was a big hit, especially after a hard days sightseeing, and we spent many lazy hours reading in the hammocks. The villa is very well equipped and the tandir oven was great to barbecue fresh fish. We sampled quite a few of the restaurants in Akyaka and had delicious meals at Big Blue, Mev's, Cennet and Olive Farm. The waffle bar on the beach front is also worth a try! There is a beach at Akyaka but we preferred Cinar which was very quiet, excellent for swimming and has a great beach cafe. There is lots to do in the area and plenty of activities within easy reach. Dalyan is worth a visit and we took a boat trip along the river to Iztuzu beach, passing amazing Lycian tombs and meeting a couple of turtles along the way! Other trips to recommend are the boat tour round Gokova bay and to Cleopatra Beach, the Sultaniye hot springs and ancient Kaunos. Many thanks to Justine and Mel for the warm welcome and being on hand to answer all our questions and queries. And not forgetting dear little Foxy the dog who greeted us every morning and was a delight to have around!

Perfect week away

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect week away in this beautiful villa that has charm and character. The rooms are spacious, lovely outdoor BarBQ and although it was very hot there is plenty of shade here under the trees in the front of the house and we lounged on huge cushions on the carved stone seating area. So nice not to have to be always at the pool side. It is about 10 mins drive to town so car is necessary but Akyaka is delightful and very few English voices! Delicious food in some great restaurants. Justine is very hospitable and nothing was too much trouble including fixing the internet connection - vital for our teenagers! Foxy the dog is a wonderful companion as well and was always waiting at the door every morning but never tried to come into the house.

We are a family of of five with 3 children 9, 12 and 13 years of age. in april/may 2015 we stayed in the Zambak for eight days and it was perfect for us.

The setting and views are stunning with mountains, woodland, and charming rural smallholdings all around. The local widlife is quite varied (with a touch of the caribbean) there were swallows everywhere, tortoises in the adjoining field, frogs and toads making happy sound at night along with the owls. Foxy the pet/guard dog was a faithful companion to our girls and exteremly friendly.

The villa was well equipped and we had everything we needed during our stay in Zambak. Weather fantastic! Justine was warm, friendly and helpful as were the local shops restaurants we visited, and the people we met during our stay in Akyaka. A peaceful idyllic setting.

We discovered Marmaris about 30 mins drive from Akyaka, well worth visiting. a catacomb of endless bazaars, lovely eating places a beautiful marine and a waterpark for the kids.

Look out for Mike (Mehir) of Monte Carlo boat trips, great value and service , couldn't be nicer

Turkey is a beautiful country and we hope to visit again

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review we are so glad all the family loved Zambak Villa, you have really painted a picture of the setting and wildlife surrounding the villa. Of course as you mention Marmaris is a short drive away if you want to go shopping or partake in livelier activities. Akyaka of course is only a 12 min drive away where you can also take a boat trip from. We do so hope you will all return someday, Thanks again Justine
