Les Hirondelles was once an old farm building, which stood derelict for over 26 years. When the farm closed, it became a home for the swallows "Les Hirondelles" which nested in the building every year. The newly renovated building is cladded with wood, inspired by the old tobacco barns in the region. It has a private terrace and views across (and access to) a small orchard backed by the forest covered hills. The interior displays exposed wooden beams, and the decor has a clean and cool influence. It has an en-suite master bedroom with french doors opening onto the terrace, a second double bedroom, a twin bedroom, bathroom, and open plan kitchen/dining/living area with French doors also opening onto the terrace. Dishwasher, Free Wifi, English Satellite TV & DVD player.
Double sofa-bed also available. Please enquire before booking.

Hello, I am Maria. I live in France with my husband, brother, mum, dad, and our 4 dogs, Woofie, Dopey, Bobby and Merlin.
We were very fortunate to inherit our beautiful property from my Uncle Neil who moved to France in 1986. We were even more fortunate to have lived here with him for many memorable years before he passed away.
Before Uncle Neil moved here he was a Vicar in Salford, however after being subjected to years of vandalism and break ins, he decided to move to France and set up an open air restaurant.
The restaurant was open for 12 years. The menu consisted of chicken and chips, or pork and chips, and the wine was always free. Some nights it attracted up to 200 people seated in the barn and garden behind the property. Uncle Neil would wear silly hats and tell jokes. Later in the evening he would play the keyboard and everyone would sing along to 'The Ovaltinis' and 'Teddy Bear's Picnic'.
Ben Frisby purchased this barn in 1980

Make it your own!
This was our second visit to this property and we will return again.
The property was very clean and well equipped in a wonderful scenic location.
Plenty of activities available as well including rock climbing and canoeing
We had a great week in Taire Du Grel, we stayed in Les HIrondelles, with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms it was super spacious for our family of 4 and a dog. It is set in the middle of the garden with the pool very close by which was awesome. We ate every meal on the nice shady veranda (except breakfast as it was in the sun then). We had the added bonus that there were kids of a similar age in one of the other gite's so the kids had loads of fun. Hosts Ben and Maria were very informative about the area, had guidebooks and maps to offer and even directed us to a little known crag to take the kids rock climbing. The gite has canoes available and Ben dropped us off and picked us up so we could saunter gently downstream without having to paddle back.
I've never been to the dordogne before, and we barely managed to see anything in our week. We look forward to a return visit.
What a wonderful place for a break ! From the moment we arrived we could not have being made more welcome. Sunny and tranquil spot was perfect for our break ( too short !). The kids loved the pool, whilst the peace and quiet was ideal for us adults.
So good to have all the places to visit within a short drive and being able to walk to the stunning village of Domme was excellent. Great facilities at the gite, everything we needed, UK tv a bonus for the kids.
We will be back !! Thanks again Ben, Maria et al.
Throughly enjoyed our stay! Maria and Ben welcomed us upon arrival and helped us with our luggage to the gite.
The gite was beautiful and had everything you could need! The kitchen was stocked with those little extras which you need like cooking oil, tea, coffee and we had a bottle of sparkling wine for our arrival.
The view from our patio was amazing , with no houses in site just the countryside. The pool offered a similar view.
Maria and Ben had put together a folder in the gite with information on local markets , restaurants and places to visit. We went on trips out every day and ate in some fantastic restaurants. On the last evening there was a fire work night in Domme , which was such a lovely end to our holiday.
This area is such an amazing area in France with so many places to see and places to eat, I can't recommend it highly enough!
Definately plan to visit again.
There were 4 of us sharing this gite on a motorcycling holiday in April. The gite is ideally situated to explore the main attractions in the area and we were made to feel very welcome by the owners and can recommend this for a large family or two families sharing the accommodation.
Sarlet is only a short distance away as is Domme and with Carnac close by there is a wealth of cafe's and restaurants on offer as well as the convenience of a supermarket, fuel station and various other shops.
If you want to just chill out or explore it is a great place to be.
Fabulous location to explore from.
The Gite was very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
Facilities in the grounds included table tennis, badminton and the pool.
The Gite is family run and all made us very welcome and nothing too much trouble.
Would have no hesitation in recommending to other travellers.
