Overview

About the property

House in Chalmington, Nr. Dorchester, Dorset, England - Idyllic Rural Setting, Near Jurassic Coast And Historic Towns Of Dorchester And Sherborne

The Granary was rebuilt 8 years ago and affords spacious family accommodation. It has been designed with wheelchair users very much in mind, with level floor surfaces on the ground floor and a downstairs bedroom with en-suite wheelchair-friendly bathroom with shower. We are M2 accessible level accredited by Quality in Tourism. Parking for 4 cars is next to the Granary on smooth stone surfaces allowing easy access. It benefits from all modern features without losing its farm house charm. In June 2013 we installed a biomass boiler. There is a large sitting room with far reaching views of the Dorset landscape. The separate large kitchen is ideal for celebrating special occasions with family and friends. There are four en suite bedrooms. There are two patios for outdoor eating and far reaching views of the countryside. There are plenty of lovely walks from the property. There are great pubs and restaurants nearby, plenty of places to visit and lovely beaches to enjoy.

Perfect stay in the countryside

  • 5 of 5

The granary was the perfect stay for our long weekend. It suited us in every way especially the accommodation. It was very comfortable and situated in an excellent area near the coast. It was a pleasure meeting Jason who was very helpful.

Wonderful setting for family get together

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful experience we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our dog was in his element, center of attention per usual so glad he was welcome! All though my children are all grown up this was the perfect answer to our reminiscent wanderings in beautiful Dorset. We would not hesitate in returning or in recommending this property.

Fantastic house in a great location - dog friendly

  • 5 of 5

We were 5 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 dogs -What can I say - the house was wonderful - 4 big bedrooms each with their own bathrooms. Huge kitchen with great big table to eat brekkie and dinner round.Well equipped kitchen - lots of seating in the living room and really comfy beds. Enclosed courtyard for the two dogs was perfect as well as another area to sit and look out across at the views. Location was peaceful , scenic and and just far enough for visiting all the coastal areas like Lulworth, Durdle door, Weymouth, Bridport. Owners were friendly and we even bought some of their lamb to take home to feast on ! Would definitely recommend a stay here - will hopefully return in the future. Thank you for a most comfy and welcome stay.

Recommendations - views at Lulworth and Durdle Door is a must

Lulworth Cove Inn - lovey pub with good food

The Fox and Hounds pub - Cattistock - small local pub but food was fantastic !

Bridport - West Bay beach (where they filmed some of Broadchurch) great beach - lovely walk round the harbour with a stop for fish and chips ! Purleys ice cream - lots of flavours and just yum !!

Eype beach - dogs allowed - very windy - one track lane to reach but worth it.

Weymouth - typical seaside promenade - didn't get a chance to go to Chesil beach but told it is one of the good ones.

Cannot wait to return to Dorset and explore more of the area.

Lovely accommodation, gorgeous location.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at The Granary. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable and we loved the ensuite bathrooms for every room. The kitchen was the icing on the cake with everything we needed to cook whatever we wanted. We loved walking around the farm, seeing the lambs and the horses, and going down to the river to relax. The perfect getaway.
