About Barrie Robinson

I live in England with my partner and 2 children. My partner and I both work, and we fell in love with the little village of Bansko in 2005, when we first went out there to take a look. We love Bankso because it has a great feel to it, the people are lovely, the food, restaurants and pubs are warm and inviting. You can enjoy skiing in the winter, and mountain biking/hiking in the summer. The property is a few minutes walk from the ski gondola and a supermarket to stock up the fridge. We can point you in the right direction for ski hire, mountain bike rides, trail walks, and even white water rafting. It is still a very affordable holiday for the whole family, for all ages.

Barrie Robinson purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Barrie Robinson chose Sofia Area

We have been going to Bansko since 2005, and have looked into a few properties, but unfortunately had a few issues with some of the developers, and the place we originally purchased fell through. But, we kept going back to Bansko, as there is something there that draws you in, and you just can't resist the lovely old Village, its history, the traditional restaurants, and the beautiful Pirin Mountain range

What makes this apartment unique

The property is very convenient for skiing/hiking/walking/mountain bike trails, as well as close proximity to all the restaurants, bars and the well stocked supermarkets, for all your local needs, such as bread, milk etc. We have recently refurbished the flat, and now provide ski rack for skis and boots. We are only a 5 minute walk to the ski gondola and we welcome all families to stay there. We are very child friendly, and can provide cot beds/travel cots if required

This was second visit to this apartment, very spacious, has everything you need for a comfy stay in Bansko and welcome breakfast pack saves having to buy essentials when you get there. Greeted by Tosh who is very friendly and informative. Only 5-10 mins walk to ski lift. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Lovely ski apartment

  • 5 of 5

We were a little bit bit worried about going to Bansko for our Xmas & New Year ski holiday but Mel & Barrie promptly answered all our many questions & were very helpful, putting any of our concerns at ease.Their man on the spot took care of airport transfer with ease & was available at all times to assist with any queries we had. The apartment was clean, spacious, warm, well-equipped & very comfortable, with wonderful views of the mountains. A comprehensive welcome pack of provisions was provided. Ample firewood was also included. The apartment is within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants & the gondola. We certainly would like a return visit to the apartment & wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any folks considering a trip to the interesting town of Bansko.

We've just got back from what should have been a week in the apartment but unfortunately due to illness we had to stay for 2. Melanie who owns the property was very helpful and understanding of our situation and allowed us another week (paid of course). Their represntative in Bansko is a guy called Tosh who was exceptional. Without him, don't know what we would have done.

The apartment itself is modern, very clean, and spacious. Beds were comfy and it felt very homely withh lots of nice little touches. WiFi was good if not a little "hit and miss" on occassion but my son lived on it!! TV channels were not great neither was the quality of picture and under normal circumstances wouldn't have even turned it on.

Well positioned just a short 10 min walk from the centre and Gondola I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Skiing Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday and the apartment was fantastic, I really appreciated the washing machine, I can tell you! What was really lovely was the Welcome Pack, we’ve never had one of those before and when all our friends were having to visit the supermarket on arrival night, we didn’t and felt quite smug!!! Tosh was great as well, so we’ll definitely be back. The apartment is furnished to a high standard and although we didn't need to use the real fire (because the apartment was already lovely and warm), it added to the ambience of the apartment.

Beautiful apartment

  • 5 of 5

Great apartment, central location and Tosh sorted everything out for us from start to finish. Apartment was very clean, modern and stylish. We managed to get the internet to work with just a quick phone call to the people who looked after the apartment. Great log fire but we only lit it for effect. The apartment was plenty warm enough without the fire. The washing machine was an added bonus, meaning we could wash the skiing clothes and they were dry for the next morning. Would definitely recommend. Might be returning to bansko next year and this apartment will be the first that we look at.

Many thanks

Alan Chadwick.

Fantastic holiday, fantastic apartment

  • 5 of 5

As our first trip to Bansko after years of skiing in the Alps we had a great time. We went out for half term after being moved away from the Alps by the huge half term prices, and so having heard good things about Bansko decided to take the plunge. Really happy we did, skiing was good, not a huge amount of runs but some very nice ones, but not an issue as we had kids in Ski School. Bankso itself is great, loads of really nice restaurants and very reasonable prices, and the Ski Road down to the town from the skiing makes getting in and out very good. We ate out almost every night and the most we paid for a meal for 4 of us was £50 with wine and beers.

Flat itself is fantastic, only 10 mins walk from the Gondola and you can leave your skis and poles at the gondola station in ski-hire. Really nicely furnished, with an amazing fire and great TV and selection of DVD's. Rooms are a good size, living room is good and it has a good supermarket 50m away.

Barry and Mel the owners were great, as was Tosh the local rep who met us at midnight to give us our keys and sort out any problems we had.

All in all a fantastic holiday and we can highly recommend both the flat and Bansko. We had a great relaxing holiday in a lovely place with lots of good skiing, the kids (age 5 & 6) were bombing down red runs by the end of the week and loved it, all for less than a quarter of the price of a holiday in the Alps.
