About the property

Farmhouse in Gulval, Penzance, Cornwall, England - Peaceful Rural Location, Within Easy Reach Of Beaches, Local Pub And Other Local Attractions

This beautiful well appointed detached farmhouse set in large mature gardens, overlooks Mounts Bay, with views of St Michaels Mount. It nestles between the north and closer south coast of Cornwall, towards which there are many wonderful views. Gulval is a much sought after village on the outskirts of Penzance, and the farmhouse sits just up the hill from here, up a track that affords it peace and seclusion. Up the track from the house is a delightful path that is quite magical. It leads down through private woods to a beautiful winding stream, and you wouldn't want to be anywhere else! Penzance is a 20-30 minute walk or 5 minute drive away, and the railway station is a 20 minute walk down the road. Our home is in a quiet position, but within easy reach of local amenities.

About Noëlle Rorke

This has been home to us and our 5 children for over 20 years. It is still our home. The children have now all left home, and we are enjoying spending time when we can sailing, most recently across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. And so we have taken the opportunity to share our home, and our beautiful environment with others.

Noëlle Rorke purchased this farmhouse in 1994

Stunning farmhouse in beautiful countryside

  • 5 of 5

A perfect stay in a fabulous location! We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this beautiful family home. The house itself was wonderful - homey, comfortable and quirky and big enough for our large family gathering! It was spotless and well-equipped with everything we needed including many books to read and films to watch for potential rainy days. The living spaces were spacious, pretty and comfortable. The gardens were lovely too - we loved stepping out of the patio doors into gorgeous, green gardens and sitting outside on the terrace or playing games on the grass. Useful local information was provided by Noelle, including directions to the woodland walk by the stream, straight from the door of the farmhouse. Noelle was always quick to respond to any questions we had and made arranging things very easy indeed. We really couldn't have asked for anything more for a very special family holiday.

Owner's Response: A very thoughtful and welcome review from great guests who really got the best out of staying here in our home. I love the 'quirky' word! Never thought of using that to describe our home but yes, it does seem to fit! Thank you, and we look forward to welcoming you back again one day.

Really lovely house for a large group, tucked away so nice and private and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely few days at the property for a family get together. We really like this location as so many things to do within 30 minutes of Penzance. House was in good condition, was warm and comfortable and very clean. Lovely views from its elevated position over towards St Michaels Mount.

Absolutely amazing holiday farmhouse home!!

  • 5 of 5

We cannot rate this farmhouse highly enough! Absolutely amazing home with a warm, inviting ambience. We booked it because of the kitchen and it did not disappoint in the slightest (we even got friendly with the aga oven and loved it). The location is secluded enough for privacy but also close to local amenities and beautiful beaches. There is definitely something for everyone here and the owner is lovely to deal with. We will definitely return one day.

Stunning quiet farmhouse with excellent facilities

  • 5 of 5

My family of three generations enjoyed a wonderful summer holiday at Kenegie Home farm. The location was quiet with plenty of parking and a wonderfully large garden that catered to the needs of energetic teenagers and toddlers alike. The swings and trampoline were a great success. All facilities were excellent and we loved the walk down to the stream through beautiful woods.

The house itself was excellent and beautifully decorated throughout. The beds were all comfortable and the bathrooms were modern and very clean. There was plenty of space for everyone and everything. Noelle was very helpful whenever I had an enquiry. The long kitchen table was perfect for supper every night being able to accommodate everyone.

We found the location very good for both the north and south coasts of Cornwall with plenty of beaches to chose from. We particularly liked Sennen for surfing and Carbis bay for quieter waters. The sand on both beaches was stunning and the water on Carbis Bay was translucent. We enjoyed St. Michael's mount but the queue was rather long to get into the castle. The National dahlia centre was well worth a visit at this time of the year. As there were so many in our group we mainly went to the beach every day and we didn't eat out at all but enjoyed the lovely aga for cooking and drying our clothes.

If I came to the same area again I would definitely come to the farmhouse again if we were in a large group. We barely covered all the beaches that were within 20 minutes drive from the farmhouse and hardly touched on the towns or attractions as the weather was mainly good.

I would definitely recommend Kenegie Home Farm to family and friends.

Wonderful home from home, all the amenities any size party could ask for.

  • 5 of 5

Being a larger group of three families, we always struggle to locate that perfectly sized home for an English break. We can thoroughly recommend Kenegie Home Farm, not only is it in the most perfect locations, with sea views to die for. The home itself has every amenity any family could ask for ( no microwave ) to make their stay as enjoyable as possible.

The kitchen is the main hub of the home, this is where we socialised most of the week, never having cooked on an Aga before we presumed it would be a case of following a YouTube video. However Noelle has a fantastic cookbook, which has some super recipes in. There is also a second gas hob for everyday cooking. All the bedrooms upstairs have a basin and mirror, in the bunk room there is a drying room, ideal for hanging washing up in or playing hide and seek!

The outside space is wonderful, a ground level trampoline and treehouse ( currently under construction ) ample garden area for a game of football or light cricket and badminton.

The drive way ( shared ) is long and unlit, and what I would call a farmers track, be mindful if your car is low. A tricky right turn onto the main road, ideally the council should pop up a mirror for drivers help. You are close enough to walk into Penzance, however the small road

leading to the main road are unlit, unpaved and a little dicey. Car/camper van etc definitely required.

Many beautiful coves and beaches to visit, plenty of brochures left in the house for inspiration. One recommendation is Kynance Cove, arrive by 9.30am, be prepared for a walk down, along the cliff ( not edge ) or walk the flatter way, through the grazing cows. The cafe in the cove is very reasonable, pasties are a sharing lunch or a hearty l'm going to pop and need a nap lunch. The toilets are pretty dire ( sign says to flush only is needed due to bio toilet ) be warned. Lots of nice beachs to visit, many are coves and require a walk down. Pushchair users be warned. Parking app is available for most car parks. Very handy if like us you don't usually have change on your person.

Going back to the house, l would highly recommend Gulval, Kenegie home farm and the lucky owners, who were always there, at the other end of the email or mobile for help and advice.
