A wonderful holiday rental property
There is little more to say about this property that hasn't already been covered by other reviews. It has everything you need to make your stay in SriLanka an unforgetable experience. Sarath was on hand to make sure we had everything we needed and the home cooked currys by his wife and daughter were some of the best we have ever tasted. The driver, Niron, was very helpful taking us to the turtle hatchery, herbal gardens and the tea plantation. A visit to the local Buddhist rock temple is a must.
Thank you for your great review. I am glad you all enjoyed your stay. I hope you be back for the next cricket game:)
Paradise just minutes from beach and Galle
We spent a wonderful 4 days at Olu Villa last week, which was the perfect end to our 3 week holiday IN Sri Lanka. Our hosts were warm, friendly, helpful and attentive. Sarath was there to greet us, provide a house tour and was available when we had questions. The house is a 10 minute tuk tuk ride from both the beach and Galle Fort, where there are a number of great restaurants, cafes and shops. The home has everything you could need, is set in a beautiful yard with wildlife around and is this piece of quiet paradise that we loved. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Thank you for your great review!
We loved having you and your family staying with us. I am so happy you enjoyed the villa and the garden:-)
A great place for a relaxing sojourn!
A gorgeous house with huge living spaces and large bedrooms with a view over the back garden to watch the monkeys frolic in the early morning. The decor, nets and air-con make it very comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the front veranda, lounging on the settees covered in superb local cotton fabrics, with the fans gently spinning overhead. The kitchen has every conceivable piece of equipment to cook up a storm, however we were more than happy to limit ourselves to breakfast of coffee and fresh fruits and snacks. The Sri Lankan coffee our hosts had got in for us was great (although we would have preferred to brew it in a press rather than the drip machine or espresso maker) as was the variety of fruit and the fantastic local curd! Certainly recommended. Another must is to have a delicious meal cooked in house for you by Nina's mother in law and sister in law - a mouth watering array of curries and sambals with distinctive Sri Lankan flavours. We spread it out over 3 days so order yours early in your stay!
Although we didn't do a lot of sight seeing, Niron was always ready to take us places in his tuk tuk and no request was too much for him. He had plenty of suggestions for other sites to visit and got us safely to the airport and on time despite a major festival taking place.
Sarath appeared twice daily to make sure all was well and to see if there was anything else we needed. All in all it was a very relaxing holiday despite being a hot and humid time of year. A swimming pool would have been the icing on a very delicious cake! Thanks Nina for your fabulous organisation and communication. We had a wonderful holiday. Pene and Suzi
Thank you for your great review:) i am glad you enjoyed the stay!
Spacious house set in a lovely tropical garden.
We had one of our best hoidays ever at Olu Villa and we hope to come back to stay there again soon. It was wonderful to come back to the tranquility of the house and beautiful garden after the noise and bustle of Galle or even the local beaches, which are also some of the finest we have excperienced. It was so easy to get a tuk-tuk to take us anywhere we wanted. Nina's family made us very welcome and ensured we had everything we needed. We arranged for them to cook us meals on alternative evenings and they certainly gave us some delicious Sri Lankan cuisine. Also we enjoyed good food in many of the local restaurants.
This is a beautiful and peaceful villa.
This is a beautiful and peaceful villa set in a quiet area and lovely gardens.
The house is very well equipped, spacious and comfortable, which is perfect for the climate. It is near the beach, Galle, and very good restaurants.
The host family kept the villa clean and were a great source of local information, also provided one of the best Sri Lankan meals we ate cooked by the host family themselves - a real treat!
The whole family, including 2 girls (19 and 16) loved the experience, did not want to leave and would come back - need I say more!
Hello Jonathan and family,
Thank you for your great review and we hope you comeback one day:)
Plenty of space inside and out to spread out ... sitting outdoors and watching the monkeys pass through the trees in the back was fun!
Quiet location, a 20 minute walk to the beach or into the local countryside. We felt safe and liked being away from the busy street life nearer the beach. Big kitchen with anything you needed to prepare your own meals, or have Anoula prepare her delicious curries!

A 3-5 minutes tuk tuk drive or a short walk to the closest beach. Unawatuna beach also has a lot of shops (in the backstreet) restaurants, bars and night-life.
We can provide pick up at the airport. To easiest way to get to the house from the airport, is by hired van with a driver, taking the new highway. There is a small toll fee for using the highway. There is also buses and trains leaving from Colombo, situated about 40 km from the airport. To avoid the traffic, try to schedule you arrivals in the early morning or late night.
Galle town is about 2 km from the house. Here you will find most things you might need, utilities stores, supermarkets, fruit and vegtable market, fresh fish and seafood, wine shops and clothing shops. Galle Fort is also an amazing place to visit with small streets, antique and jewellery shops, tea/coffee places, interior shops, and a spectacular walks on the fort wall.
Theres is a supermarket, post office, and a pharmacy in about about 5 min walk from the house. There is a big antiques store about 15 min walk away that is great to visit if you are a treasure hunter. Theres is no ATMs at the beach areas in Galle district. ATM machines is to be found in Galle City 2 km away. Very few places on the beach takes credit cards of any sort.
Here is a little movie from someone who travelled the Island:
