|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Accessed by a few stone steps is 'Le Balcon'. The traditional Cypriot style double bed is typical of the furnishings throughout. It has an en-suite shower room, a newly fitted kitchen area, comprising of electric combi-style oven/microwave, a 2 ring electric hob, kettle, toaster, fridge, coffee perculator, selection of pans, crockery, cutlery and glassware. A single pine wardrobe, 2 seater sofa, pine dining table and chairs, an open fire, ceiling fans and a/c. Doors open onto the balcony where you can sit and relax day or evening with a glass of wine enjoying the panoramic view, the starriest of skies and the gentle hum of night crickets.
Not your typical tourist accommodation, the Old Elementary School of Peyia harks back to a bygone age set deep in the heart of the village.
Once derelict, it has been lovingly and painstakingly restored by its owners, David & Annick and now offers 2 separate 'Gite style' apartments.
Full of distinctive old Greek charm and character whilst including all modern conveniences.
The setting and courtyards are often likened to a set in Mama Mia ...this secluded oasis appeals to the discerning traveller who seek privacy and comfort within friendly and attractive surroundings.
Entrance is via the old courtyard, completely enclosed and separate from the street. It is a wash with colour, vivid pinks and red bougainvillea cascading over white walls and complimented beautifully by the Mykonos blue doors and shutters. Lemon trees hang boldly over the swimming pool and gentle breezes carry the gentle scent of Rosemary, Sage and Thyme.
The panoramic views overlook the church, a mishmash of roof tops and out to the coast to the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean.
When you've had enough of relaxing around the pool, Peyia is an excellent base from which to explore the island.
The owners have recently installed a wood burning stove to add a cosier and romantic feel to anyone wishing to stay during the cooler months.
Thank you for a wonderful 10 days in your lovely Gite ! The weather has been glorious and your pool and beautiful courtyards have allowed us to fully relax and enjoy it. Your home is beautiful. Thank you Carole for all your help and suggestions, highly recommend Oniro and Sea Caves Tavern for beautiful places to watch the sunset - Oniro also do fabulous food. Also had a simple home cooked meal at Peyia Tavern which was delicious. Take a drive into the mountains - spectacular scenery and views and beautiful villages. We went horse riding with Ride in Cyprus - absolutely amazing trek to the top of one of the mountains, even if you are a complete beginner (James was).
Helen and James - August 2014
Thank you David and Annick, Carole and Malcolm - We had a wonderful time in this beautiful balcony Gite. Perfect for an Autumn break - beautiful outside and by the pool in the sunshine, equally delightful inside and on the balcony with fabulous views. A great base for hikes in the Troodos mountains (late afternoon) on the Atkemis or Atalanta trail is to be recommended and the Aphrodite trail on the Akamas peninsula. This has been the most idyllic retreat and though a week is never enough we will head back home totally refreshed ! Thanks again and to all those coming ....enjoy !!

Le Balcon looks great on line and when you arrive it really has the wow factor! The balcony is great for watching village life and the pool area is very inviting.Supermarket and restaurants very close by.Absolutely nothing negative to say about our holiday, from booking to going home.Thankyou to David and Annick, and Carole and Malcolm.
If you're looking for a quite stay near paphos but away from the strip and the resorts then we would highly recommend staying here! We absolutely loved it here! The apartment was absolutely gorgeous! It's clean, very comfortable and the terrace provided a lovely place to relax in the evening, providing lovely views of the Paphos area. The pool was absolutely stunning! Private, peaceful and looks like paradise! We're normally people to get out and about but even we spent a fair bit of time relaxing by the pool.
Peyia itself is a fairly quiet place to stay although we stayed during November so perhaps at the height of the season this may be different. The church bell is kind of annoying too but there are plenty of places to eat locally although if you're a vegetarian you may struggle. We would recommend the Old Cinema where both the food and the service was fantastic! It's about a 5 minute drive to Coral bay beach and the rest of the strip is in between so if you like that kind of atmosphere in the evening then it's an easy cab ride away too.
From the outset of booking this property I had been impressed with the service that we received. The instructions to find Le Balcon were excellent and brought us to the door without any of the usual discussion that my wife and I tend to get into when trying to find our accommodation. The property management company were very helpful and the information folder provided was an excellent resource to learn about the local area and what else there was to do in the area. The place was spotless and showed that a great deal of care had been taken to furnish it and make it a home from home for visitors. The owners also live on site.
This apartment provided an excellent base for us to explore the Paphos area and had a lovely balcony with views down to the sea. Plenty of room for the two of us. The beautiful weather meant that we spent little time inside the property as the swimming pool is a lovely place to relax and with only another couple, who had booked the other apartment here, it was a tranquil setting for a swim after a day out and about.
The apartment has minimal cooking facilities but with a number of bars and tavernas within walking distance it is more than enough. The only thing to note is that it is a fairly steep climb back to the property although not more than 200 yards in some cases. The nearest supermarket is even closer. We made use of the local restaurants which provided a modest range of dishes which featured mainly meat in quite large quantities. If you want fish then you need to head to the coast.
Would I recommend this property for anyone, definitely. There is no television but the wifi worked well if you do need to keep in touch with the outside world. We spent a very relaxing time here and found it a delight. If you want a quiet base to explore the west side of Cyprus from then this is definitely one place to consider.
Thank you for making the whole experience easy.
After missing the initial flight, I thought, Oh crikey, the most important trip of the year - my son's wedding - and this has happened - what next?
Carole, thank you for being so 'easy' about it all.
We arrived on the Tuesday, Michael met us at the airport - he was smiling, polite and chatty. I began to relax. On arriving at the gite, he showed us in and quickly and efficiently, thankfully, (as it was very late) showed us the car and its workings. I was very grateful.
The welcome pack was a blessing - much needed tea and toast.
The gite was beautifully clean and tidy - we loved it from the outset and found it very easy to relax in such beautiful surroundings.
The pool is lovely, private and peaceful. I will hold dear the fond memories of sitting by the pool, in the shade as we painted our nails for the wedding that evening - much more fun than a beauty salon in Oxford!!
It took me a few goes to navigate my way up to the gite - missed the left hand turn a few times. The in roads past the gite are almost vertical. I took a walk early one morning - some workout!!
Jason's wedding at Athena Beach hotel was beautiful. There was a lovely sea breeze in the early evening - which helped. It was lovely to be with close family and friends. Special forever memories. Thank Goddo for waterproof mascara!
The day after the wedding I had a beach day with my 3 children and new daughter-in-law (They're not children - the youngest is 23!). Knowing there was no one staying in the other gite I brought them back for tea and to show them where we were staying. they were truly in awe, they thought it was beautiful and took pics to show their friends. My daughter said it was like being in a scene from the movie, Mama Mia!! I thought you'd like to know that.
We found 'Clean Beach', the chap who has the kiosk was so, so kind. We had lots of lovely fruit cocktails, followed by lots of complimentary shots! He makes great halloumi and salad pitta bread sandwiches. Everyone we met was kind and welcoming.
On leaving, we arrived at the airport and a man was waiting for us on the corner of the road. I 'stupidly' missed the petrol station and was going to go back but the man offered to top up the tank. I gave him some money and he promised he would sort it. Again, he didn't make a fuss. He got the bags out and we said our goodbyes.
We had a fab time and would love to come back and explore more of the island X
This beautiful gite tucked away in the village of Pegia was exactly what we were looking for.
It was quiet and relaxing , apart from one night when the locals were celebrating Easter, but we had been warned about that.
The gite had everything you could possibly need, including a large balcony with stunning views of the coast line. And no T.V which was great.
Our only negative comment was on the size of the bed, it is a smallish double iron bed which creaked with every movement.
It would not stop us from returning as so much else was perfect, for us.
We loved the swimming pool and gardens surrounding it.
The walk into town is steep but managable, even for someone who is in need of two knee replacements!!!
We would never have found the gite late at night without the excellent comprehensive directions from the property managers, thank you.
I would recommend this gite to any couple looking for rest, relaxation and some time to spend with each other without the distractions of work/home life.
