About Margaret Matthews
I grew up on the Isle of Wight and, although I spent my working life on the mainland, I always retained a nostalgic affection for "the Island". In 2011, following retirement and serious illness, I was able to buy this bungalow as a peaceful retreat to help with my recovery. Now that I am well again I have resumed my hobby of spending extended periods motorcaravanning and this is why I have decided to let my bungalow so that it can be enjoyed by other people rather than leaving it standing empty.
Margaret Matthews purchased this Bungalow in 2011
Why Margaret Matthews chose Freshwater
Brambles Chine was an ideal choice, being very easily reached from Yarmouth. It is on the quieter side of the Island and, of course, the location and views cannot be beaten. The particular bungalow I chose is in a secluded and peaceful part of the site which appealed to me.
What makes this Bungalow unique
The property is ideal as a base for gentle or strenuous walking, cycling or sailing activities, for visiting all the attractions which the Island has to offer, or just for enjoying the peace and quiet and the beautiful views.

Fantastic location, great views. The bungalow was compact and well equipt. Lovely walks on the coastal paths, great weather too. Will visit again.
A great place to stay
A great place to stay and a great base to see the island. Everything was as advertised and we were very impressed with the closeness of the beach and the coastal path.
Very calm and peaceful bungalow.
Very good, found as was described. Fully functioning and well maintained, serviceable. Clean and tidy. The bottle of wine as a welcome was a nice touch. Lovely location, close to the sea. A minor grumble would be that the WiFi signal could be improved, a bit weak. Also the lane into the campsite was hazardous, just bits of rubble. Care is needed on entering. However, overall it is a lovely place and a nice place to stay, thank you.
Perfect holiday accomodation!
Fantastic chalet with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. Fully kitted out kitchen, comfy beds with plenty of storage, lots of infomation on trips out, bus times etc, stunning views from chalet itself, the list is endless. Margaret was very helpful with infomation prior to the trip also. Highly recommend a stay here!
Superb location and comfortable accomodation
Wonderful quiet location with sea views of the Needles and a short walk to the lovely beach. The chalet has snuggly cosy beds, comfortable furniture and a well fitted kitchen. Everything you could need is provided from towels to torch, hot water bottle to bubble bath. The heating is very efficient and hot water always on tap. There was milk in the fridge and a card and gift on our arrival which was so thoughtful and much appreciated. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitively be back.
Great little chalet
Lovely chalet, wonderful views. Very clean, plenty of equipment, cutlery, cups etc. Nice to have a washing machine although we didn't use it as we were only there for a few days. Contact with Margaret was prompt and easy. Information clear and comprehensive. We did a lot of walking whilst there and although we did use the car for some walks there at least three from the chalet. Would love to use again. Thank you.
3 minutes on foot to the beach.
Brambles Chine is a ten minute drive from the Wight Link ferry terminal at Yarmouth (from Lymington). Early booking is recommended.
It is possible to walk to it via the coastal path in 40 minutes and there are excellent bus services on the Isle of Wight but a car is recommended for maximum benefit.
Totland and Freshwater are about two miles away and Yarmouth is about 3.
Nowhere is very far from anywhere else on the Isle of Wight and it is possible to enjoy all the Island attractions from this bungalow by car or excellent bus service. Close at hand there is Freshwater with a variety of local shops and 2 small supermarkets (Coop and Sainsburys), a hairdresser, library and Leisure Centre including swimming pool. Lots of places to eat including restaurants, cafes and takeaway shops. Yarmouth has fewer, more specialised shops and caters more for tourists with many cafes, restaurants and hotels. Colwell Bay is a ten minute walk along the beach providing a beach shop and two tea rooms.
No pets. Unfortunately the site rules permit only owners' pets in the bungalows.
