Wattnott is a well equipped, secure, alarmed home, offering plenty of accommodation set in a private mature garden. From the upstairs BBQ area there are fantastic views of the sea, the old harbour and mountains. The house has a Mediterranean feel with five bedrooms, three bathrooms, sitting room and dining room. It is perfect for a family holiday and is less than five minutes walk to the beach and shops. There is an automatic garage and off street shaded parking. The enclosed garden offers a swimming pool, bbq, patio furniture and a shaded outdoor dining area. The upstairs patio offers great views and with a built in BBQ table and chairs is the perfect place to relax and feast on the view. The house is well positioned; Cape Town central is 40 minutes drive and the world famous winelands 20 minutes drive. There are a host of activities locally; beaches, whale watching, golf etc.
We have bought the house as our retirement home - many years away but good to have a plan! Andre works for an engineering company and Sally is the administrator for an international church. We live in the Middle East and can't wait to live somewhere with greenery and scenery! We try to visit Cape Town at least twice a year as we have family living there. Also we want to enjoy the house as this will be our forever home.
Sally Visser purchased this villa in 2012
Gordon's Bay is a quiet seaside town which offers clean, clear water and safe beaches yet it is located only 40 minutes from Cape Town central. We feel it offers the best of both worlds; the laid back lifestyle South Africa is renown for but with the convenience of a major city nearby. The wine lands with it's stunning scenery, wine and food is another huge attraction. There are several golf courses nearby and good shopping centres - what more could we ask for!!
We believe our house is one of the oldest in Gordon's Bay, approximately 100 years old, which is old by South African standards! It has loads of character; beams, original terra cotta floor tiles and an unusual Mediterranean feel. We fell in love with it and hope you will too!
The location was important to us and this house has two advantages. One is being able to walk to the beach in less than five minutes yet the house is located in a quiet street, with little through traffic, avoiding the hussle and bussle everyday life - the perfect combination we believe.
Breathtaking view of the mountains from both the front and back of the house. Peaceful tranquillity while relaxing on the covered deck overlooking the sea. We loved our time there. Kathy and Greg McConnell, Noble, Oklahoma, USA.
My husband and I stayed at the house for two weeks as part of our honeymoon in South Africa and it was idyllic. We loved being so near the beach as well as some good cafes and bars. The house had all the amenities and extras that we needed for our stay. We definitely want to go back again. Johnathon & Judy McElroy, Japan.
We had a wonderful week staying at this characterful fisherman's cottage. The sunsets from the upstairs BBQ area are amazing and we had many relaxing evenings sitting up there. The garden is very secluded with a large shaded area to eat under and a pool and sun area for soaking up the rays. You can walk to the beach and get into Cape Town very easily. So grateful fo this lovely home! Great location, one block from ocean. All the accommodations we need. Very comfortable!
The house is ideal for all ages and adapts well to just a couple or to a larger group. It had everything we needed & more and has a warm enveloping feeling which greatly contributed to our family holiday. We are sad to leave!
My family & I absolutely loved our stay here. The house is beautiful, spacious, & the house has so much character. Our children thoroughly enjoyed the pool & the views from the terrace ... wow! The location is fab, close enough to beaches, restaurants etc. Thank you also to Jean & her husband for being so helpful & kind. We will definitely return one day. Highly recommended.
Although only two of us, we really enjoyed the spaciousness of this well equipped five bedroom property. Large garden separate to pool area and attended to on daily basis. It was a delight to sit out and enjoy a glass of wine. From upstairs breathtaking views of the sea/mountains as the sun goes down.
We did not go into Cape Town as we were staying there before flying home but lots of other places to visit - Bettys Bay (a must to see the penguins), Hermanus and the wine growing areas of Stellenbosch and Franshhoek.
Overall a good find at a reasonable price.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Watt Nott. The property is extremely well equipped with everything you could possible require. In the event only 5 people were able to stay in the house, so there was ample room. We might have struggled though if all beds had been occupied as access to the roof terrace meant going through one of the double bedrooms.
The pool was a great attraction, but unseasonably high winds left it with rather a lot of debris to clear out each morning from the nearby trees. Besides the roof terrace, there is a lovely garden and well sheltered courtyard in which to unwind and enjoy a glass of wine - or two.
Close to shops and supermarkets, in-house catering was a breeze. Plenty of places nearby to eat out too.
Access in and out of Cape Town is easy, and only 35 mins to/from the Airport. For a family holiday base, this is the ideal spot.
A lovely property well located for both Cape Town and the Cape Winelands, (about a 50 min drive to each), and is situated on a quiet street about a 10 minute walk to the seafront where there are a few restaurants. The Thirsty Oyster is a little further, and near the harbour and is to be recommended for seafood and atmosphere.
A 30 minute drive west along the coast is Betty's Bay where you will find the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens where you can enjoy a pleasant lunch and one of only 3 mainland colonies of African Penguins, much more extensive and less touristy than Boulders Beach.
The property is well looked after and has all the necessary equipment for an enjoyable holiday. There is ample outside space to relax, including a balcony where you can view the sunset over Gordons Bay and the Cape Peninsula. The pool is well kept and well located for sunbathing and privacy. The owners who are offsite were very efficient and helpful in all our dealings. There is a local manager just a few minutes drive away should you require any help.
The only downside is the lack of air conditioning, but that is reflected in the price, and there are plenty of efficient fans throughout.
Would definitely recommend the property to friends and relatives.
