About this property

Castellino has an enviable position located as it is on the Tuscany Umbria border with absolute tranquility and the beauty of the countryside all around. This luxury villa comes with a large pool and great views of the Niccone Valley, it is completely private and not overlooked by another property. Free wifi.

The shady veranda extends along the back of the house and has a large dining table, there are other outdoor seating areas throughout the grounds as well as a dining table inside. The rooms are generous in size and comfortably and elegantly furnished with traditional terracotta floors and chestnut beamed ceilings. The grounds are fenced and gated, there are insect screens on all windows and ceiling fans in bedrooms. 2 very friendly villages with bars, restaurants and shops are nearby. The garden is well-maintained and has flowers, shrubs and olive trees and even a small tree house. A maid, cook and/or baby-sitter can be arranged for additional cost. Wifi internet included.

Belle maison ancienne dans la campagne, dans un écrin de verdure. Magnifique piscine. Terrasse ombragée très agréable. Nous y avons passé deux très bonnes semaines.

Great place near to village

Well kept, beautifully furnished inside and outside, newly redecorated, very clean and tidy. The terrace running along the back of the house is a great asset. Garden and views lovely, easy access to the villages below both Ristorante di Gianna and Trattoria Mimmi are both worth a visit and very good value. We would definitely consider another visit.

So peaceful and relaxing

Castellino was just perfect for our family holiday in May. The weather was beautiful and the house and garden gave us the space and peace to completely relax and unwind. It is very spacious so even with 8 people it did not feel crowded. The bedrooms were very comfortable, the interiors and outside areas thoughtfully laid out and beautifully furnished, it was a delight to be there. While we did enjoy every moment at the house we did also enjoy shopping in the local villages and having morning cappuccinos there, Cortona is a spectacular place to visit and we ate in two excellent restaurants there. We also enjoyed a boat trip from Passignano on Lake Trasimeno. It is an area rich in so many ways. always good to return and explore some more.

A beautiful house in a stunning location

We stayed at Castellino for a family holiday over Easter, the house is superb; beautifully and comfortably furnished and with a good kitchen for a family of keen cooks. Although the pool was closed it was warm enough for us to eat outside almost everyday. The views are fantastic and the location is quiet without being remote. We enjoyed Good Friday processions at Assisi and also visited Todi, Florence and Siena amongst other places. This is our second visit to this area and booking through Gorgacce Rentals and we are keen to return again.

I am the booking agent for Castellino, my name is Emma and I live in the Niccone Valley, near Castellino, with my husband, two daughters and our cat and dog. We run a small rentals agency called Gorgacce Rentals, named after the first house my parents owned here which they bought in the 1980's. In those days before the internet they were very successful at renting their house to holiday-makers and their neighbours asked if they could rent their houses too and from this grew our rentals agency. Seeking a better life Martin and I (with our then one year old daughter, Isabel,) moved here in 1999 and have taken over most of the running of the rental business although my mum still keeps the accounts!

We invite all our guests to a wine tasting evening at the local vineyard. This is a regular event run by by husband Martin Daykin who recently passed his Italian Sommeliers Association exams.
