Photos and Description of this Sporades holiday cottage

Cottages in Skopelos, Sporades Islands, Greece - Peaceful Location, 5 Minutes Drive To The Beach

3 cute cottages, named mulberry tree, Daphne and chestnut tree, with private pool each one, and very nice surrounded terraces full of trees, plants and flowers, located at Potami (means river) area, between Agnontas beach and Panormos beach. They are full of character with elegant interior decors, entirely suited to the gloriously peaceful rural setting. They are set on the hillside overlooking the Potami valley, on land that has been in the Kohilis family for over 100 years. The Potami area is a part of the island rich in water with plentiful springs, and as a result covered with plain trees and orchards. The whole area provides many wonderful walks, with paths leading through the mountains, past picturesque chapels and other cottages, on down to the coast. By crossing through a wooden bridge, you are entering to the property, of 15 acres, which is covered with olive, plum, walnut, cherry, chestnut and almond trees, and a paved road leads you to the cottages.

About Kohilis Giannis

Giannis Kohilis a joiner. Born in Chicago in 1960, moved in Skopelos in 1965. Married to Pipitsa who is born in Volos and has been in Skopelos for the last 30 years, being a bank employee. We have 2 sons, Giorgos who studies Physics and Vangelis who loves playing bouzouki.

My father transfered to me the property in 1990, which had been in my family for over 150 years. It consisted in a piece of land with olive trees and an old cottage, built in 1905. Me and my wife renovated carefully the cottage (Mulberry tree) in 1992 and built the other 2 cottages in 2001. We have designed the external and interior features and taken care personally in furnishing and decorating all of them, in simplicity, to improve them from a family holiday place, to a spacious and comfortable resting lodge.

Why Kohilis Giannis chose Thessaly

The property belongs to my family for about 2 centuries and the location is the most beautiful in the middle of the island, in a green environment with many springs around and a small river, where the old times the family passed the summer holidays.

We had spent many memorable times at the old cottage, with the family and many friends, enjoying the beauty of the countryside, so we decided to rent the property with the idea of sharing all the wonderful experiences Skopelos has to offer.

One may take short or long walks in the natural landscape, with paths leading through the hills, pass by picturesque chappels, other cottages and many springs.

What makes this cottage unique

Olive fields and forested land extend to the right and left and above our land ensuring seclusion. All 3 cottages are surrounded by many trees and plants, the pool and sunbathing area, composing a very secluded and peaceful place.

You have the company of the cicadas in the daytime.

Early in the morning and in the afternoons you can enjoy the delight chirping of the nightingales.

On clear and cloudless nights, you can enjoy stargazing in an absolutely absent wind atmosphere.

Tranquillity at its best but just a short distance from all amenities and beaches.

A beautiful place in pure nature, total privacy, deep quiet.

Friendly for kids, ideal for people looking for a romantic getaway, the perfect escape. We personally take care of the cottages, to ensure relaxing holidays.

Delightful property

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Mulberry Tree. This is a well built barn/farmhouse conversion. Very comfortable and well equipped. Immaculately clean. With almost wrap around terraces you can follow the sun or the shade all day. The outside furniture is of excellent quality and the pool just divine. (It is generally very difficult to find a private pool in a property for 2) The owners are very friendly and helpful. It is situated in a very peaceful location. It is only a short drive to Skopelos town, Panormos Beach and all the other resorts. Car essential. Would definitely recommend this property to couples looking for a relaxing break.

And to the nitwits who cancelled because of the drop in sterling at the time of Brexit - you don't know what you missed.

Mulberry Tree Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely fortnight staying in Mulberry Tree Cottage. A very peaceful location with views across a valley. We were met by Pipitsa and Iannis the owners at Agnontas with the hire car they had kindly arranged for us. We found the owners very helpful. The house is tastefully furnished and we found it well equipped. We had a restful holiday enjoying the pool and pretty patio areas and we would certainly go back.

Perfect Holiday

  • 5 of 5

I have a pleasure to write a review of our stay at Mulberry Tree cottage in August, 2014. We spent two happy weeks in this peaceful and comfortable place so advantageously located. We had a great chance to meet this lovely couple, Pipitsa and Janis, who had arranged their house with great taste and care. It could be an ideal place for a family with children, as it was in our case, for romantic couples, and for all other combinations of people who appreciate nature, calm and beauty of untouched environment away from mass tourism, but not far from the advantages of the "civilization" . As the three cottages are quite close to each other (but you don't even see your neighbours!), it could be a great place to come with friends or parents and enjoy their society without abandoning your autonomy. We will be happy to come to this charming harbour of peace again and highly recommend it to everyone who shares our love for peaceful but active holidays.

Owner's Response: Dear Edita, Many thanks for your warm comments. It was our pleasure to meet you, Jean Luc and your lovely boys Pierre and Nicolas. We are very glad to hear that our guests found in our property "a harbour of peace", as you very poetically wrote. This is what we want to provide to our guests, privacy and tranquillity, peacefull, calmness and relaxing holidays. It would be delightfull to host you and your nice family, again in the future. Best wishes Pipitsa and Yannis

A charming countryside cottage

  • 5 of 5

From my first email to enquire about availability Pipitsa and her husband Iannis were charming; courteous and helpful. By the time they met us at the Port of Skopelos we felt we already knew them. They drove us to collect our hire car and then led us to their beautiful property in the hills where they showed us around with justifiable pride.

The property is accurately described on the web site. It is a short drive to local amenities; restaurants and beaches but then nothing is far away on this delightful little Greek island. The cottage was very clean with the bed made up for us; the kitchen is well equipped and the outdoor facilities are excellent with plenty of shade at all times and a private plunge pool. True to word, the towels were changed mid week and we were presented with a local delicacy as a gift when the owners came to say 'Goodbye.'

I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing 'away from it all' holiday. We loved it.
