Our largest cottage. Both bedrooms can accommodate an extra folding bed and the under stairs alcove has a double sofa bed. There is a big sitting room with an open staircase leading to the first floor with the bathroom, one twin and one king-size bedroom. The kitchen/dining room leads from the sitting room.
We have just opened our new leisure facility, with a hot-tub and swimming pool, a small gym, and a games room with pool/table tennis/air hockey table. The facilities are shared between the 5 cottages, but can be booked for private use at no extra cost.
East Briscoe Farm Cottages are set in a beautifully peaceful, south-facing position, on a 14-acre wooded riverside estate in Teesdale, County Durham.Set in truly beautiful North Dales countryside, East Briscoe is the perfect place to escape the city and unwind; offering a wealth of interest for naturalists, cyclists and walkers. The holiday cottages are situated in Baldersdale (made famous as the former home of Hannah Hauxwell), two miles from the village of Cotherstone, which has two excellent pubs and a village shop/post office. Holiday guests can enjoy nature walks around the estate, fishing on the estate and in nearby reservoirs, free-range eggs from the resident hens and seasonal food from the vegetable garden. Owner/Managers Emma & Chris live on site with children Grace & Sam.
East Briscoe is a family-run establishment - mainly Chris & Emma, with a bit of help now and again from children Grace & Sammy. We live on-site so are generally on hand to sort out any problems, or provide help or information about the area.
We try to be friendly, without interfering too much into your holiday - we know a lot of people come here for some peace and quiet, especially outside school holiday times.
Chris Tarpey purchased this cottage in 2003
We were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to take over East Briscoe when Emma's parents retired, and we've never looked back. We had visited many times, so we knew what a special place East Briscoe was, and we still think so today.
New leisure facility with swimming pool, hot-tub, gym and games room. Surrounded by beautiful, peaceful countryside. A walk down to the river on a warm spring day is a unique experience.
“Fabulous location, quality accommodation = perfect break”
“Tranquil unspoilt area, quality accomodation and welcoming owners.”
“Great welcome, great location”
East Briscoe Farm is a treasure amongst Farm Cottages. Chris and Emma's welcome and the shared barbecue (inside the greenhouse), made our stay something special.
A great base for walking and touring an unknown area to us, with maps and information aplenty within the cottage.
