Barns in Tywardreath, Nr Fowey, Cornwall, England - A Small Family-run Business Offering A Friendly And Personal Service For Our Two Converted Barns

West Lampetho is situated in South Cornwall on the rural outskirts of the village of Tywardreath, near to Fowey. We are less than 1 mile from the local beaches of Par and just 2 miles from Polkerris and are under 3 miles from Fowey. These beautifully finished eco-friendly barn conversions are in a delightful and peaceful location providing an excellent base for exploring Cornwall. Primrose -a traditional single-storey barn conversion with private courtyard. Primrose has a large open-plan living area with high vaulted ceilings. Sympathetically restored using lime and hemp and with underfloor heating throughout. Violet has an open-plan upstairs living area to take advantage of the beautiful surrounding views of the coastline, sea and countryside. With an open-plan living/dining/kitchen area with a wood-burning stove, and downstairs bedrooms/bathrooms it is perfect for all ages. Surrounding Violet are patio/grass areas with plenty of sitting and outside eating places. Free WIFI available.

Violet has a contemporary feel to it. We created a spacious, upstairs, open-plan living/kitchen area to take advantage of the far-reaching sea views across St Austell Bay and the surrounding countryside. You can decide to take heating from the modern night-storage heater with its built-in convector heater or settle down by the wood burning stove. A free supply of wood is provided. TV, DVD player, CD/ipod docking station, digital radio and WIFI Broadband Internet access. The fully-fitted kitchen has a natural gas cooker, an oven, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. Digital radio and microwave oven. The dining/living area consists of a dining table with 4 chairs and 2 sofas, all on oak flooring. Two comfortable bedrooms, one double with en-suite, and the other with two single beds. A separate shower room/wc. Underfloor heating in both bathrooms. 100% cotton towels and bed linen. We can supply a cot, high chair and buggy. Garden, patio, BBQ, parking.

About Jim Sioufi

Jim, Julia (us!) and their four boys live in the farmhouse adjacent to the barns. We have spent the last 6 years lovingly and painstakingly restoring 2 barns and our farmhouse to provide a home and business whilst trying to achieve a healthy balanced lifestyle.

Jim and his boys are keen watersports enthusiasts to say the least, whilst Julia loves to escape on the beautiful coast path. Windsurfing is Jim's main hobby and he is an RYA qualified windsurfing and sailing instructor. He regularly helps to get Fowey's juniors on the water at the Fowey Gallants Sailing Club and at junior windsurfing Team 15 sessions at Polkerris.

Why Jim Sioufi chose Newquay & St Austell

We were looking for somewhere with space, views, character, and with some barns to convert into holiday lets, near to Fowey where our children are at school. Luckily, we found West Lampetho - perfect for raising a family with rural quietness, countryside and sea views and less than 3 miles from Fowey - the perfect base for exploring Cornwall. The farmhouse required some serious rennovation prior to us moving in. Then we got on with both barn conversions finishing Violet in 2009 and Primrose in 2012. We are now enjoying welcoming visitors, and the freedom and space that comes with 2.5 acres of land. Living so close to the sea makes most of the year a race to get wetsuits dry before the next water session - be it sailing, surfing, windsurfing or the latest addition - stand-up-paddleboarding.

What makes this barn unique

Living "on-site" we are always on hand to offer advice on everything from beaches, childrens' activities, where to eat, or even pick up the best local pasties!

We are small-scale and offer a personal service, and our properties are genuinely low-energy and eco-friendly.

Julia Sioufi MAR has been a practising reflexologist for over 12 years and you can experience a relaxing treatment in private in your own accommodation or in our farmhouse.

Outstanding Property/Hidden Gem

This is our First stay in Violet. but we had stayed in Primrose only 5 weeks previous, It's just has good and as its own 'quirkiness'and a real treat from upstairs is the view of the Sea, with great open area living, and a superb log burner which we didnt use as the weather when we stayed was fantastic, but in the Cold months it must be amazing, the Property is in a real good location for visiting other parts of Cornwall, Alternatively, there's everything you need to simply relax at this beautiful property, its so peaceful. Special interest holidays:

We are fortunate enough to be just a 5 minute drive from the Polkerris Beach Watersports Centre, an RYA Recognised Training Centre, where they can offer tuition and courses (all levels) in windsurfing, sailing and stand-up paddleboarding. They also offer a hire-only service for all of these activities including kayaking (subject to ability). Jim can also offer advice on most water-based activities.

On-site reflexology is also available. Julia Sioufi MAR has been a practising reflexologist for over 12 years and you can experience a relaxing treatment in private in your own accommodation or in our farmhouse.


Par beach is less than 1 mile away. This is a long sandy beach with plenty of areas to explore. Polkerris with its water sports centre, Sams restaurant and pub is 2 miles away.


Newquay airport is 40 minutes drive. Plymouth ferry port is 1 hour drive. par railway station is 5 minutes away, and we can collect by prior arrangement.


Tywardreath is 1 mile down the road. Fowey and its sailing is 3 miles away. Truro 20 miles. Lanhydrock, Eden, Charlestown, Bodmin are all a 15 minute drive. South West Coast path is a 5 minute drive. Luxulyan Valley with its spectacular viaduct, old mine workings and tramways are at Ponts Mill, less than a 10 minute drive.

Surfing, Padstow and the north coast are a 40 minute drive.

Further Details:

There is a small local village shop in Tywardreath open until 6pm M-F and mornings only on Saturday and Sunday. There is also a Chip shop, butchers and pub in the village. Supermarkets are in Par or St Austell

Notes on accommodation: Low-energy eco properties that take advantage of our small-scale wind turbine located 200m away in our next field. This clean, green source of renewable electricity combined with solar panels and electric or gas hot water and heating systems makes the properties pretty much self-sufficient on most sunny and windy days. Outside garden and patio areas, plenty of parking, BBQ seating areas and beautiful views. All linen included. Sorry, no pets. Non-smoking.
