About Peter & Mandy Daley
We have owned have owned Honeysuckle cottage for nine years, it was not our plan to rent out our holiday home, but came with bookings and did so well we just carried on. We have three children, one boy and two girls , they all love Shanklin and the beach and can't wait to stay in the cottage. Being a close family all hands are on deck, our mums are a great help, we have lovely housekeepers and their families who also help, and two very willing gardener's, who turn their hands to most things. Knowing how much families have to take with them on holiday we have tried to think of everything so that all that needs to be had is a good time! We really hope you love the cottage and The Isle of Wight as much as we do.
Peter & Mandy Daley purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Peter & Mandy Daley chose Shanklin
We chose Honeysuckle cottage for its great location, we later bought Jasmine and Clematis either side, these are also holiday cottages, as we were finding it hard to find a week free for ourselves! We love how close they are to the beach, water-sports, The Old Village, parks, and great countryside. The size of the garden was another great plus as we had very active children with plenty of energy although almost grown up now. They still love to see the rabbits on the lawn and looking out for and feeding the squirrels in the winter, they are getting very cheeky! We love the fact that you feel miles away from the bustle of a busy seaside town, yet are close enough that within a few minutes walk you can be part of it.
What makes this Cottage unique
Honeysuckle cottage for us is a relaxing holiday, surrounded by plenty of things to do and see, or just watch the children play in the garden. The red squirrels are facinating to watch and are getting quite brave! The Old Village has many places to eat out, its nice to walk down in the evening, without the worry of the car, or to stop for dinner or a drink on the way back from the beach. Rylstone Gardens, only a couple of minutes walk away has a crazy golf garden that's fun and café and sometimes in the summer has bands playing in the bandstand. The Island has so many different things of interest, festivals, carnivals, plenty of village shows, history, Shanklin theatre puts on a fabulous pantomime, zoo's, and much more and none of them are more than an hour away. We have tried to make Honeysuckle cottage as child friendly as possible, stair gates, bed guards, toys, books, DVD's and a great garden to explore, so that you can make your holiday as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

Beautiful house with a stunning garden
We stayed in this lovely house for a week. It is in great condition and everything was super clean. The shared garden is huge and stunning - our daughter would have been happy to spend the week there!
Location is also great for walking into Shanklin Old Village or down to the beach. We are already planning when we can come back!
THIS IS A LOVELY holiday home.We could easily walk into Shanklin in the evening. We could have had nicer weather something the owners couldn't have arranged !
Isle of Wight return
Had a very good week exploring the area with good base to go back too. Nice house with everything that was needed.
Excellent accommodation, perfect location
We have stayed at Chestnut Mews a few times now. Over the years we have stayed in all three cottages, Clematis, Honeysuckle and Jasmine, they are all excellent. Lately we have booked Jasmine and our daughter and family book Honeysuckle these two cottages have a large shared garden which is ideal for children. There is a slide and two playhouses. Clematis has its own private garden. The cottages are child friendly, tastefully decorated, well maintained, well equipped and always spotlessly clean. A welcome pack is provided with biscuits, coffee, tea etc and a bottle of Proscecco or Cava
The location is perfect for the 'old village' Rylestone Gardens, Shanklin beach , walks and other attractions. We love staying at Chestnut Mews and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else on the island. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Clean, tidy, warm and cosy. Nice area, beautiful walk down to the beach
We enjoyed our week at this holiday cottage very much. It was clean and tidy, nicely furnished, quiet, warm and cosy, updated/modern and in a good area!
A comfortable and well equipped cottage
We had an very enjoyable stay at Jasmine Cottage, the grandchildren especially liked the garden play equipment which gave then hours of enjoyment. Seeing red squirrels in the garden was very special. We found that the cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed, which made our stay very relaxing and most enjoyable.
The Cliff Path and Steps leading to Appley Beach, the quieter end of Shanklin’s Beach, takes approximately a ten minute walk. Or alternatively, you can stroll along a tarmac path, via the Old Village and park (easier for prams and the less agile) which also only takes about ten minutes to get to Shanklin’s main Beach and the esplanade, with its gift shops, coffee shops and amusements. The beaches at Shanklin hold the seaside award, for its clean waters and facilities.
Entertainment; Shanklin has its own Theatre which is open all year round hosting a full programme of professional and amateur productions. Our Children love the Christmas pantomime. Shanklin chine is in the center of the old village, for almost 200 years it has been enjoyed for its peace, tranquility and natural beauty. As you wander through the woodland, passing waterfalls and following the stream down to the sea, you’ll soon see why this famous gorge has inspired poets, artists and writers. Between Shanklin and Sandown is Wight Water Adventure sport who can offer you professional watersports packages across a broad range of water-based activities, tuition to suit all needs and abilities. There are over 500 miles of footpaths and 200 miles of cycle tracks, that mixed with fact that half of the Isle of wight is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty makes walking and cycling a pleasure. You can join dinosaur walks explore the dinosaur museum, have a game of golf, go to Sandown Zoo, Blackgang Chine, Robin Hill, a little further a field (although no where's that far on the Island) Osbourne House, Alum bay, Amazon World, The Garlic Farm ( luckily they do provide mints!) And so much more.
