Light, modern, comfortable, well-equipped, peaceful

  • 5 of 5

The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into converting an old barn into a comfortable, attractive home. There’s a real feeling of being immersed in the countryside - lots of big windows with wide views, and the French windows opening onto the garden and paddock (3 playful and friendly horses) from the sitting room and ground floor bedroom are a real pleasure. The owners are friendly and helpful without ever being obtrusive. The village is very pretty and the community-run shop, Post Office and cafe have a good supply of all the basics and of local produce. I’d recommend Parke Barn to anyone, including those with mobility problems as the downstairs bedroom with en suite bathroom is splendid. Best to have a car though, as there are few footpaths nearby.

Stylish, modern, practical barn conversion

  • 5 of 5

Owner was very helpful, especially in view of the adverse weather conditions, ie heavy snow!

The village has a lovely feel to it, with two pubs serving foodand a very well stocked community shop.

Beautiful surroundings, and a good base for visiting National Trust properties, the coast and Dartmoor.

The barn was exceptionally comfortable and well fitted out. Very warm, considering we were staying at a very cold time, with a very effective wood burner and underfloor heating system.

Beautiful and well equipped property in a peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

Had some fantastic trips all over Dartmoor which is only half an hour away. Pretty and remote, you can look out in the morning to see the horses grazing. And everything you could possibly need is inside this beautifully converted barn to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

A beautiful home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

This wonderful barn conversion, tucked away on the outskirts of Broadhempston, offers everything you could want for a holiday stay. It is fabulously well equipped, clean and spacious and the lovely touch of a welcoming home baked sponge cake just adds to this feeling. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to others.

The property is first class and very comfortable

A homemade cake on arrival and three friendly horses peering into the barn as you open the curtains made it very hard to go back to the real world
