About Ali Cripps
We (David and Ali Cripps, with our youngest son James) live at Knighton Farmhouse, and the Brew House forms the east 'wing' of the farmhouse. We have lived here since our return to the UK from several years in both Canada and the USA. We love running the Brew House as a holiday cottage, and many of our guests have become friends. We know the Island very well (Ali grew up here) and as we both work from home, are usually around to give advice and ideas of good local places to visit.
Ali Cripps purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Ali Cripps chose Newchurch
We love the area - peaceful and rural, yet easy access to everywhere.

Wonderful cottage in perfect location
Had a lovely weekend break in this cosy cottage which had everything we needed. The owners made us welcome and were very friendly. An ideal place to stay for a short or long stay. Would definitely like to stay again
70th birthday break
We both enjoyed our stay away from it all, the welcome basket was a lovely touch and our hostess was a delight.
It was so lovely to be a part of your 70th birthday celebrations, and we are delighted that the Brew House provided a cozy place for you both!
Everything about The Brew House was perfect for our brief stay and if time permitted we would have stayed longer. From the delicious welcoming basket to the comfortable beds and hot shower it was great to come ‘home’ after a day’s exploration and relax in such peaceful surroundings. And I was lucky enough to spot a red squirrel in the garden! There is a very useful compendium of the owner’s favourite places to visit and the local pub and farm shops lived up to the recommendations. Do yourself a favour and book the Brew House.
It was lovely to meet you, albeit briefly! Wonderful that you could enjoy such gorgeous late summer weather, and some of our favourite places too!
A wonderful week in the Isle of Wight
I have just spent a fantastic week with my family at The Brewhouse, Isle of Wight.. Ali Cripps, the owner, was very welcoming and supplied some tasty treats for us, including home -made cake! The Brewhouse was spotless and very well equipped, particularly for my 2 year old granddaughter who loved all the toys and puzzles available. The location is incredibly peaceful and we were fortunate with the weather so made the most of enjoying breakfast in the delightful courtyard garden. The Brewhouse is well-placed to easily access the Islands many attractions and we had some great days out. All in all a perfect summer holiday!
Quintessential English Cottage
The Brewhouse is without a doubt one of the nicest rental properties we have ever stayed in. It is beautifully decorated, kitted out with everything you could need - plus lots of other unique touches and in a gorgeous setting of the owner's beautiful garden.
The owner had thoughtfully left us with lots of lovely supplies such as milk, eggs, butter and even a cake The cottage was lovely and warm and the beds comfy. It really felt like a home rather than a holiday rental.
The owner was lovely, thoughtful and communicative.
Can't wait to go back!
A stunning property in a beautiful setting. Ideal location for exploring the Isle of Wight
A fantastic property in a beautiful rural location. Stayed for 3 days with my 70+ yr old mother and 2 young children. The brew house was very comfortable and very well equipped and Ali had provided a welcome basket with delicious home baked cake and treats and local produce. Ali and David were wonderful hosts, helpfully recommending places to visit and dine at. They provided buckets and spades and fishing nets for the children to use and equipped us with bikes and helmets to explore the stunning local countryside.
We would definitely recommend staying at the Brew house at any time of the year and we would love to return again.
Special interest holidays:
The Island is famous for its many miles of excellent biking and walking trails - and the cottage is situated right on the Bembridge Trail. The famous 'Walk the Wight' cross-Island charity walk trail (27 miles across the Island) goes right past the front gate! There are also two major walking festivals on the Island every year.
All the Island's glorious beaches are within easy reach from the Brew House, the closest ones being only 10 minutes drive away.
The use of a car is essential, and we can help you arrange your ferry travel to the Island.
The Brew House is a short and beautiful walk across the fields from the famous Garlic Farm. This is a wonderful place to eat - and to sample the delicious produce of the farm. The Pointer Inn in Newchurch is within easy walking distance of the cottage and offers a wide range of excellent food and very friendly service. The menu always has Island sourced meat and very local (from various folk in the village!) vegetables.
Many of our guests have found it helpful to arrange an on-line supermarket grocery delivery to come to the cottage when they arrive. The Island has all the major supermarkets to choose from. A wide range of restaurant details and sample menus are available with our guest information in the cottage.
