This 5 Star (Visit England) accommodation will exceed your expectations with luxury at its heart. Ribble Cottage has two bedrooms to sleep up to four people, one double and one twin, each with their own en-suite. The cottage has underfloor heating throughout, Freeview HDTV, WiFi and a DVD player. The modern open plan kitchen is very well equipped with a washer/dryer, dishwasher and everything you might need. Ribble Cottage is perfect for a family or, with the twin easily made into a double, two couples sharing. Linen and towels are provided, every detail has been thought about, all you need to do is turn up and enjoy your stay. Oakdean Cottages

Two luxury holiday cottages set within a quiet hamlet close to Whalley in Lancashire. Ribble Cottage was recently awarded 5 Stars by Visit England for its luxury and modern comforts. Hodder Cottage is located next door overlooking beautiful gardens.

There are two bedrooms in Ribble Cottage, three bedrooms in Hodder Cottage each with plush bathrooms and en-suites (see below for details). Both have a large open plan living space, a modern fully equipped kitchen and a dining area to seat six comfortably. Floor to ceiling bi-fold doors can be opened out to reveal a continuous patio, an outside dining area and view to the woods beyond. There is a BBQ area too, perfect for outdoor dining in the summer months.

Local attractions include Dean Clough Reservoir, Pendle Hill, Clitheroe Castle and the historic village of Whalley. Short walks or long hikes can be found in The Forest of Bowland and surrounding areas; as can golf, cycling and horse riding. Your hosts Ian and Sue have been lucky enough to welcome guests from all over the world and promise to make you feel at home throughout your stay.

About Ian and Sue Sherrington

We are Ian and Sue and have been lucky enough to welcome holidaymakers to The Ribble Valley from all over the world. Whether you prefer your privacy or to be shown the local sights of Lancashire, we look forward to making you feel very welcome. As neighbours you will hear very little from us. There are no pets in the grounds, so local walkers and the occasional grandchild of ours are likely the only other people you might come across throughout your stay.

Why Ian and Sue Sherrington chose Ribble Valey

The Ribble Valley and surrounding areas have been ranked one of the safest and nicest places to live in the UK. We moved here many years ago and have been in love with it ever since. Our location couldn't be better suited to explore the North of England. The coast is close, The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales sit on our doorstep and we can be in London or Glasgow in a little over two hours, all benefits our guests continue to enjoy.

We pride ourselves on being the very best hosts possible and are pleased to have received great reviews from guests that have stayed from all over the world. It's beautifully peaceful where we live and our location couldn't be better. The cottage sits in a very quiet spot close to a third holiday cottage and a residential bungalow. There is a village pub near by (5/10 minutes walk away), with everything The Ribble Valley has to offer right on the doorstep. Fresh farm eggs, milk and other essentials can all be supplied on request.

We love this cottage for so many reasons, we have rented both the Hodder and Ribble Cottage. We have very hire regards for the owners and their exceptional way to welcome guests and take are of all needs. No matter the request - both Sue and Ian are absolutely lovely and accommodating. All of the 5 stars reviews are accurate - they look after every detail. Don't doubt renting these cottages - you will not be disappointed.

Enjoyable 3 night family stay with toddler in immaculate and well appointed cottage

We looked forward to coming back to Ribble Cottage after our day trips to visit relatives in the region, a clean and comfortable apartment with everything we needed for my 14 month old son.

Truly a 5 star stay

The accommodation is tastefully decorated throughout and immaculate, fairly recently built I believe, with all mod cons, beautiful en suite bathrooms in both bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Everything, and I mean everything, we needed was there, and more too, such as an espresso coffee machine with coffee provided, fresh flowers on arrival as well as milk for a cuppa, juice and chocolates. Has Wi-Fi, DVD player, hairdryer, iron.

The rooms are sound proof so you can't hear your fellow holidaymakers snoring! And even though the cottages are semi detached we didn't hear a peep from our neighbours next door due to the quality of the build.

The grounds are impeccable too with views from the lounge of trees, garden borders and a patio which would be lovely in summer.

The cottage is well located for day trips to Blackpool, Liverpool, the Forest of Boland ( good for walking), Clitheroe castle and Museum, Whalley and Slaidburn. You can also access walks direct from the cottage down to nearby reservoirs with great views over hills.

All in all, I would highly recommend this accommodation, very professionally run by the friendly owners.

Fantastic stay at Oakdean Cottages

We recently stayed at Ribble Cottage, part of Oakdean Cottages, and had a wonderful time. The cottage was furnished and maintained to a very high standard and the hosts were both extremely welcoming and very helpful in advising us of local restaurants, places to visit etc, we would definitely return for a further visit.

Oakdean Cottages are the perfect place from which to enjoy special interest holidays. Much of our Ribble Valley location lies within The Forest of Bowland, an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

If you fish, we are perfectly located for the River Loud, River Hodder and River Ribble. Wildlife and Bird watching are also particularly popular with the Trough of Bowland, heather clad moors and wooded valleys all on our doorstep. Martin Mere, the WWF wetland in Burscough is also less than an hour away. Walking, cycling and mountain biking are popular pursuits with our guests, as is horse riding as we are close to the famous North Lancashire Bridleway that runs from Chipping to the edge of the Lake District. Other attractions popular with guests include: Alton Towers, Blackpool Tower Ballroom, East Lancashire Railway, The J.R.R Tolkien Trail and the East Lancashire Railway.

All can be organised and enjoyed throughout your stay and should you need transport anywhere, we would be more than happy to arrange it for you.
