About Vincent and Maria Lynott

We have lived in the Dordogne for 9 years, but have nearly 30 years knowledge of the area. We're happy to answer any questions you may have and can advise on all the best spots to visit.

Vincent and Maria Lynott purchased this barn in 2005

Why Vincent and Maria Lynott chose Perigord Noir

Before we bought this property it had belonged to friends of ours - so we knew the house for about 20 years before we moved in. We fell in love with it when we first saw it, just as we did with the Dordogne area.

What makes this barn unique

Outstanding uninterupted views. Tranquil location yet only a short drive to some of the most beautiful villages and sites in the Dordogne.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Cime des Arbes is a new property available for 2014. To get an idea of what to expect, just read some of the reviews for sister gite La Grange des Hiboux (Owl Barn):

"Les Bruguettes is without doubt the best gite, villa or apartment we have ever stayed in. A magical place. A superb holiday." - Janet & Nigel, Milton Keynes

"A paradise! There is not enough room to express our praise and satisfaction of Les Bruguettes. You have made the barn a haven of peace and comfort and provided everything to make us feel welcome. This holiday will always be a very special memory." - Reg & Francis, Devon

"This place is magical and you have created a holiday experience second to none." - William & Lesley, Scotland

"The best bits of a boutique hotel with the convenience of self-catering. A wonderful stay." - Matt & Rachel, Newcastle

"We never 'go back' but we came back here! It's so nice to stay somewhere beautiful like this, where the only nightlife is an owl." - Debbie & Nigel, Leeds

Total relaxation in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this lovely gite from 17-24 September 2016. The accommodation had everything we needed including an extremely well-equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom with an excellent shower, a big comfy bed and places to sit and relax while reading or watching TV. The balcony with its far reaching wonderful views of the beautiful Dordogne countryside is the perfect place to sit at any time of the day, watching the air balloons go by, eating, drinking, watching the sun go down, enjoying the peace and quiet, and just feeling total deep-down relaxation take hold of you. It was a real pleasure for us to meet Vincent and Maria who could not have been more helpful and friendly. On their recommendation we went to the brilliant Sunday market at St Cyprien and as we drove there it seemed every car in the area was heading in that direction. We can definitely recommend the lasagne we bought there!

We visited Montpazier, a 13th century bastide town founded by Edward I, we went to Domme and Sarlat and climbed up to the castle at Beynac, and also explored the little church in St Cybranet. The weather and the views were wonderful wherever we went, and on our last day we bought delicious pastries from the patisserie in Castelnaud and walked by the river in the still warm sunshine.

A week is not long enough to explore everything this area has to offer, we were extremely sad to leave, and we would definitely like to stay here again.

Thank you Vincent and Maria for a wonderful week.

Best stay on our holiday in SW France

  • 5 of 5

We are a couple from Australia. We spent 3 weeks touring SW France in October this year, with one week staying at Les Brugettes at St Cybranet in the Treetops gite. First the location - close to several small villages with restaurants and shops, and amidst the spectacular villages of Domme, Beynac and La Rogue - Gageac. A short drive to famed Sarlat and all the prehistoric sites along the Vizere valley including Lascaux 2 and Font de Gaume cave paintings. The gite itself was terrific. Spacious, good bed, modern bathroom kitchen, all very clean and well thought out. Wood stove for chilly nights if required but has good hot water and heating radiators including towel rack. Outstanding view from the balcony (and from the bed!) of the farms and countryside on the other side of the valley. A very lovely welcoming bottle of champagne, baguette, bacon and eggs! Hosts Vince and Maria were really helpful giving recommendations for restaurants and assisting with tourist queries, and just being a genuinely friendly couple. We would not hesitate to recommend this gite and we hope to re-visit in the near future!

Peaceful Tree Tops

  • 5 of 5

After a long drive from the UK we finally arrived in the dark and were met by Vincent who was very pleased to see us arrive safely.

The next day we opened the curtains to find a view from the balcony. The view that everybody talks about. A view you can only experience by being here.

We are not people to take it easy, so we spent a lot of time exploring the area and eating out.

Vince and Maria were very helpful with recommending restaurants and even booked some tables for us which was most appreciated.

Every morning we had a late breakfast on the balcony and heard a woodpecker in the woods.

In the evening, yes we did see some hot air balloons floating by.

As we were only here for a week we decided to return next year for two weeks for our wedding anniversary. May be take life a little slower, but there is still lots more to see.

Vince and Maria, thanks again for a lovely weeks holiday and for sharing Tree Tops with us.

See you soon.

Beautiful gite in stunning location

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Les Brugettes and we were not disappointed. Treetops is a beautiful gite with all amenties that you could possibly need. Vincent and Maria are fantastic hosts and the setting is perfect for a relaxing holiday. There are lovely views from the balcony where we spent most evenings enjoying dinner with the setting sun and the gardens and pool are fantastic too. The location is within easy reach of the local towns and villages and there's loads to do (cycling, walking, canoeing, gardens, chateaux etc). We fully expect to be back again and would thouroughly recommend the gite to anyone. Thanks again for a lovely holiday.

Stunning Gite in superb location

  • 5 of 5

Outstanding Gite with stunning views with every need catered for. Peaceful location but only a short drive to so many beautiful places to visit. Amazingly helpful hosts who were there if needed and nothing was too much trouble. The gas BBQ on the generous terrace and "herb garden" we're a real bonus and became the best place in the vicinity to wine and dine. The large pool and sun terrace were immaculately maintained and much needed shade was provided. The well equipped laundry room was also impressive as was the outstanding welcome pack. The Gite is well deserving of its five star rating so much so we are returning next year to continue where we left off. A very big thank you to Vincent and Maria for providing such outstanding accommodation and for making our stay so enjoyable.

Lovely Stay

  • 5 of 5

A really lovely place - arguably even nicer in reality than the photos. We particularly liked the en-suite which reminded us of our honeymoon in the Maldives. Welcome pack / wider provisions v generous and appreciated. Extremely welcoming and helpful hosts - exceeded what you'd typically expect. Location is better than initially realised - excellent base for exploring a really nice part of the Dordogne. Very hot while we were there but managed to sleep due to combination of a fan and keeping windows / doors open - you feel perfectly safe. Adjoining main property and 2nd Gite are closer than anticipated however there's a really nice balance between privacy and having occasional conversation. Will definitely return.
