About Marjorie Carr
At Menslaws we farm sheep, grow fruit and vegetables in the walled garden and enjoy having guests. Originally I'm from West of Scotland, but have lived in various parts of England. I studied at Edinburgh University and have three, grown up children of whom I am very proud.

We absolutely loved our stay at Stable Cottage and meeting Marjorie. The Cottage was perfect and met our needs in ever way with a full kitchen, clothes washer, fireplace, comfortable beds, and sitting area. We especially loved the fresh cut flowers from her garden that added a personal touch. The grounds and gardens are beautiful, too. I'm anxious to plan a return visit to Scotland and when I do, I definitely want to stay here again.
Beautiful cottage and great outdoor space
This cottage is absolutely beautiful with a fireplace (which we used a lot) during our weekend stay. It's perfect for children and our little boy was fascinated by all those little lambs and machines. Everything is open and accessible plus there are lots of walks around the area within close driving distance.
The owner is really lovely and made us feel very welcome.
We'll definitely come back to stable cottage.
Lovely cottage with a friendly owner
We stayed in the cottage for two nights over Easter. The cottage was very clean and well equipped with dishwasher, oven, electric shower, etc. We arrived to a cosy warm fire and an invitation for the children to see the lambs at feeding time. The owner went above and beyond bringing some toys for the children and wood for the fire due to the snowy weather.
Would definitely consider a return visit, hopefully in less snowy weather to enjoy the gardens and walks.
Cosy peaceful cottage in a great location
We wanted a quiet relaxing week and that is absolutely what we got. The cottage was really cosy and we enjoyed having a real fire - although it took us a little while to get back into dealing with a coal fire. The cottage is perfectly located for visiting all the border towns with only short distances to travel to all of them.
pleasant and neat in a calming and quiet location
Overall, we had an enjoyable time exploring the area. We visited picturesque towns and the countryside
Comfortable cottage in rural location.
Our three night stay was to visit and be visited by family members including young children. The cottage provided all the essentials for a short stay. It's location near to the A68 was one of the reasons for booking. The garden provided space for young children to run around, and the peaceful location and comfortable beds allowed the grandparents a good nights sleep. There are a lot of attractions in the Border area within easy driving distance. We visited the Teviot Water Gardens near Kelso which the adults and children enjoyed and it was free!
