Bungalow in Rhosneigr, Anglesey, North Wales - Peaceful Location, 2 Minute Walk To Beach And 5 Minutes To Shops And Restaurants

Erw Wen (meaning White Acres) is a short walk to either Broad Beach, Town Beach or Maelog Lake. Whilst the bungalow is situated in a peaceful spot in Rhosneigr, you are very close to the beaches, shops and restaurants. Rhosneigr is famed for its water sports whether it’s sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, kayaking or fishing with tuition available if you are a beginner or looking to refine your technique. But there is so much more and this house is the perfect base to make the most of everything there is to offer in Rhosneigr and in the surrounding area. A short walk down Chelford Close brings you to the edge of the sand dunes and to a safe sandy beach perfect for games with the children or walking the dog. There is also an 18 hole golf course, bowling green and tennis court close-by, or you can walk to the village and enjoy the shops (general stores, Gecko, Fat Face, Fun Sport) cafes, bars and restaurants or you can just relax in the secluded garden. Erw Wen has been carefully refurbished and has a modern open plan kitchen, living and dining area and has been carefully designed and furnished to make it the perfect place for family and friends to get together and enjoy every moment of a seaside holiday. The interior of the house is practical and comfortable with every modern appliance to make your holiday as relaxing as possible. The floor to ceiling windows in the main living area provide lovely views to the decked patio area and into the large lawned garden – perfect for small children and dogs. Patio table and chairs are provided, so you can enjoy the large, secluded garden. The kitchen features an electric oven with microwave, ceramic hob, large fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is a separate lounge, which has a comfy sofa and chairs set around an open fire, with TV and DVD player. The main bathroom has a bath, shower over the bath, washbasin & toilet. There is also a shower room with a walk in shower and toilet and there is an outside shower to rinse off the sand. There are two double bedrooms with double beds and the third has full size bunk beds. All bedrooms have wardrobes and chest of drawers. There is gas central heating, which means that you can enjoy Erw Wen all year round. Constant hot water is always available.

About Elaine Alexander

Our family consists of myself, my husband Kevin and our 2 children Anthony and Maisy who are 16 and 12 years old, plus our dogs Amber and Dexter.

Elaine Alexander purchased this bungalow in 2013

Why Elaine Alexander chose Anglesey

We bought Erw Wen as we have visited Rhosneigr many times to walk on the beach and go body boarding in the waves. We loved the village, it has lots to do and plenty of different places to eat and everyone is so friendly - so when we decided to buy a holiday home, it was the obvious choice.

We looked at several houses in Rhosneigr before visiting Erw Wen - even as we walked up the drive, we both said that this was the one!

It was close to the beach (close enough to walk down in your wet suit!) and close enough to the village, that my 11 year old can go to the shops to get an ice cream by herself.

Anglesey has so many great places to visit, that we still haven't seen everything yet.

What makes this bungalow unique

Erw Wen is in a great location - peaceful even at the height of summer yet close to the beach and shops.

The back garden is very secluded and it's lovely to sit on the deck and just relax with a drink & a good book.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a fabulous holiday and the house was lovely, we really did feel comfortable there. We felt so settled we could easily have stayed another week.

It is in a fabulous location, the beach is on the doorstep and it is easy to get around everywhere from there. We had a wonderful time, made especially so by the weather, it dispelled my memories of wet holidays in Wales with my parents when I was younger!

The kids have already said they want to come back again next year, and I am sure the dogs would agree too, they loved the walks on the beach and in the dunes.

Thank you for letting us book your home from home. :)

Kind regards

Comments from guests at Erw Wen 14th - 21st February 2015

Dear Elaine,

Just to say a very big thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful cottage. We all had a wonderful week in style and comfort there. The children in particular thoroughly enjoyed themselves, from playing on the swing and watching the birds feeding to playing some of the various games from the cupboard and watching the open fire burn brightly. They, like the oldies, also enjoyed the walks to and along the beaches and flying their kites.

Everybody had a good night's sleep in the comfortable beds after each busy day the good weather allowed us to enjoy outdoors.

So once again, many thanks and here's hoping we can take advantage of your hospitality in the not-too-distant future.

Kindest regards from

Anne & John, Anna, Cristiano and Sanchia

Lots of little extras

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for 4 nights in this very clean and well equipped home from home, I don't want to sing its praises too high as I might struggle to book it again :). There were lots of little extras that you don't normally find in one holiday rental, there was a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. lots of books, games and magazines, balls for children and dogs, there was even a few dog bowls, spare bulbs, candles and a pair of ready readers. This had one of the best equipped kitchens with lots of crockery, cutlery and a collection of teapots as well as different types of glassware. It has lots of little personal touches that make it homely and NOT one typed and laminated list of DO's and DONT's that you seem to find in rental properties. The garden was private and safely enclosed for our dog. It's location was within a short walk of the beach and village. We had a really enjoyable stay and considering it was the end of february the weather was kind to us too. Would love to stay here again.

Fab location , clean and spacious , big garden , great kitchen

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time staying at the house and all really enjoyed ourselves. The house had everything you could possibly need , big garden , great kitchen , comfy beds , it was also really clean and looked after. Location to beach and village was a really short walk. We had dry weather our whole stay which meant we got out and about around the isle of Anglesey our fave place was newborough forest kids and dog loved it and get down to mojos by the beach for amazing pancakes . We will be back and I would recommend to friends.

Home from home

  • 5 of 5

Went here for 4 day break , property in good location 10 mins from lovely dog friendly beach. Bungalow nice and clean and well equipped. Outside shower great for washing muddy dogs and boots. We found the sofas and chairs in lounge a bit too low and a nest of tables would be handy as there's nowhere to put a drink whilst you relax. We ate at the Oystercatcher every evening and thought it very good food and nice atmosphere ,it's also dog friendly in the bar area. We didn't try any of the other places in the village. We will definitely return sometime.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review. If anyone needs more room than we have in Erw Wen, then our friends have a holiday cottage across the road and I can co-ordinate dates. Our neighbours are first class - we are very lucky to live in such a friendly community.

Further Details:

Conditions at Rhosneigr and in the surrounding area are well known to be some of the best in the UK for both windsurfing and surfing. The prevailing south-westerly wind brings cross-on shore conditions to Rhosneigr and high waves can be perfect for riding and jumping.

Cycling - The area around Rhosneigr consists for miles of undulating farmland and countryside, riddled with lanes and farm tracks. Cycling through this landscape is thoroughly enjoyable and with a little forward planning you can avoid even moderately busy roads.

Anglesey Sea Zoo - Large displays of Marine Life. Shop, restaurant and plenty of activities for the kids. Very popular. Located in Brynsciencyn, SW Anglesey and well signposted from the A4080

Beaumaris - Name derived from the French "beau" (beautiful) and "maree" (sea place). Small historic and picturesque village on the Menai Strait. Edwardian Castle, Old Gaol, Museum of Childhood and annual arts festival among it's attractions.

Between Britannia and Menai Bridges on Anglesey. Well signposted.
