About John E Beach

The owners, John and Moira Beach lived for many years in the nearby village of Great Longstone. When John retired in 2000 they eventually decided to move into the beautiful market town of Bakewell to be nearer all the local facilities.

They purchased Long Meadow Cottage in 2007 which included an old barn in the courtyard. The Barn was converted into a delightful, luxury self catering holiday cottage for two people, decorated and furnished to a high standard

Barn Cottage - Bakewell, as it is now called, was then awarded a Four Star rating from the Visit Britain Quality in Tourism organisation

John and Moira are sure you will not be disappointed when you stay here in Barn Cottage - Bakewell

John E Beach purchased this cottage in 2007

Why John E Beach chose Derbyshire Dales

Proximity and ease of access to the centre of Bakewell.

It is a five minute, level, leisurely stroll to the shopping and restaurant facilities of Bakewell town centre.

The cottage nestles in a conservation, very quiet and private residential area of Bakewell, away from the bustle of the busy tourist and market centre of town.

There is private off road parking right by the cottage which is an added attraction when you do not need your car.

What makes this cottage unique

Bakewell, capital of the Peak District, is a lovely old market town with all the facilities you would expect, with livestock and street markets on a Monday, local museum, Church, shops, pubs and restaurants.

There are pleasant and very interesting local walks from BARN COTTAGE, by the River Wye, the countryside and Monsal Trail are all on the doorstep.

Bicycle hire is available locally although there is undercover bike storage at Barn Cottage if you want to bring along your own cycles.

It is only a short drive or cycle ride to Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall or a very interesting walk if you prefer, don't forget to pack your walking boots !!

There is Fly Fishing, by arrangement, on the river Wye which is very close

Golf is also available by arrangement locally

Beautiful cottage in walking distance of the town

  • 5 of 5

Very clean and tidy property. It has everything you need and is within walking distance of Bakewell. John and Moira were fantastic and nothing was a problem. Very knowledgeable about the area. Lots of beautiful walks and plenty of choice on pubs and restaurants. Would definitely go back. Bakewell Market is fantastic and there was also a vintage cycle festival on in the town which was great to wander round.

Mid Week Break

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at Barn Cottage for the 2nd time as we find it perfect for location , cleanliness , a super property very warm/ cosy and we always receive fantastic customer service from John the owner .

Everything is on your door step , leave the car and walk into town , it takes a couple of minutes , or short drive to Chatsworth , Matlock Bath , Buxton or Ashbourne .

Hiking is straight from your door with maps provided in the cottage .

We would highly recommend this property .

Cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

Cosy cottage in good location, quiet but close to town centre. We were given a warm welcome by John who gave us useful information

about the area.

We particularly enjoyed Haddon Hall and walking the Monsal Trail, both within walking distance of the cottage.

Piedaniel's is an excellent restaurant, we also enjoyed Le Mistral and the Pointing Dog and Duck.
