The House
Within easy reach of Bequia's villagey capital Port Elizabeth and it's many bars & restaurants, The Spice House is set on the hillside above the golden beaches of Princess Margeret's and Plantation.
Tucked into the hillside with exceptional panoramic views across the harbour, The Spice House is a newly built 3 bedroom villa with a 30 foot infinity pool.
Full width folding mahogany doors open onto a covered veranda to reveal magnificent views of the yachts anchored below.
Set within an acre of lush tropical gardens, there are mango & lime trees above the house and cinnamon and cedar below, attracting a wonderful variety of the island's local wildlife including hummingbirds, geckos and wild tortoise.
The main living area has a soaring 28 foot ceiling, full width folding doors - perfect for catching the hillside breezes - and a generous & comfortable seating area with a large Italian leather reclining sofa.
The covered veranda runs the whole width of the house providing a shady platform from which to observe the comings and goings within the harbour below.
Natural coral stone paving around the pool creates a non-slip deck where cushioned loungers and shaded corner seating provide an utterly private & restful sun bathing haven.
Bedrooms
All bedrooms have dual aspect full height double opening doors with ocean views and tall 'tea-tray' ceilings, & all are equipped with air-conditioning & ceiling fans.
The master bedroom boasts a super-King sized four poster bed has a generous en-suite shower room with double basin and large shower.
Guest bedroom 1 has extra long twin beds that can be converted into a super comfortable 6 foot double. The fully equipped shower room is just across the hallway.
Guest bedroom 2 has a queen sized four poster bed & en-suite shower room.
LOCATION - Bequia, St Vincent & the Grenadines
Bequia lies 9 miles to the South of St Vincent & is the largest of the Grenadine chain.
It has a small airport and so is easily accessible with same day connections from the major airports of Barbados & St Lucia as well as via Puerto Rico, Grenada, Martinique and Trinidad.
While the Spice House is set high enough on the West Hills of the island to enjoy fantastic far-reaching views, it is only a 20 minute walk to the gentle bustle of the island's capital, Port Elizabeth.
Specifically located within the exclusive & private Bequia Estate, the villa is far enough away from any neighbours to enjoy absolute privacy & peaceful seclusion while still not feeling isolated.
The high volcanic peaks of St Vincent are visible in the far distance beyond the harbour to the North, & the coconut palms of Plantation House can be seen just before the Water's edge to the left of the harbour.
Looking After Our Guests
The Spice House provides a maid service twice a week for a full house clean and change of bed linens. If you require a more frequent service please speak directly to our lovely housekeeper Aneka who will greet you on your arrival.
Aneka will also prepare & cook evening meals for an additional charge. Again, you can arrange this directly with her.
A basic welcome package of groceries will be stocked including bottled water, eggs, milk, butter, bread and bottles of the local Hairoun beer.
The kitchen is fully equipped & stocked with many basics, such as salt & pepper, cooking oils and some staples such as pasta and rice.
Because this is our home as well as a rental villa there are many items left at the house which you are welcome to take advantage of.
We also like to welcome new guests with a complimentary basket of luxury skincare products and beach towels are provided for your use.
There are two island phones available which will be fully charged & with a small pre-paid amount already provided. Top-ups are available at Digicell (Flow) on the main road in the harbour.
If you require a car, which we do recommend to fully explore this bewitching little island, we can arrange a hire car for an additional US$50 per day. A local driving licence is required, which we can also arrange, and this costs US$50.
Getting Here
As Bequia thankfully remains slightly off the Caribbean tourist radar & does not yet have an International airport, it is still relatively unchanged. Luckily it is easily accessible with a selection of options to choose from.
International Flights
Barbados' Grantley Adams Airport is the most popular gateway to St Vincent & the Grenadine Islands. Arrival times of international flights allow for swift onward connection to Bequia with various inter-island scheduled or charter flights.
There is and alternative direct service via St Lucia or travel from Trinidad, Martinique, Puerto Rico or Grenada via the largest of the Grenadine Islands, St Vincent.
Inter-Island Flights
International arrivals into Barbados usually arrive approximately one hour before the onward Bequia flight with a travel time of 50 minutes directly to Bequia (SVG Air).
Alternatively, there are flights to St Vincent where one can catch a ferry to Bequia, although ferry times do not always allow same day travel (LIAT).
Ferry Service
There are two companies that maintain a regular ferry service from St Vincent and Bequia: Admiralty Transport and the Bequia Express.
Ferries depart the Kingstown ferry terminal on St Vincent at varying times throughout the day - times are available on their websites, but do note these times are liable to change.
