Great house in beautiful tranquil location
We really enjoyed our week at this wonderful house. The house is very comfortable and we'll equipped and the location was perfect for us. On the walking track, a short distance to the lovely hamlet of Mauzac right on the river (check out the Banana bar). Its also an easy drive to all the attractions of the region without being too "touristy" and only 40mins from Bergerac airport. Having the pool was lovely but the only gripe we had was the heater wasn't working when we arrived so it was too cold to use for the first couple of days.

Delightful Dordogne Sojourn
We have visited La Bergerie twice now as no trip to Europe is complete for the family without a relaxing stay at this delightful villa. It is close to Bergerac airport where we picked up a hire car and drove for half hour through quaint Lalinde and alongside the Dordogne river. It is quiet and serene as it nested among trees and laneways yet the beauty of the Dordogne region is easily explored from this wonderful fully equipped villa. There is a Super Marche at Lalinde for stocking up on groceries once you arrive. We particularly loved Kayaking from Limeuil along the Dordogne after a lazy lunch at Tremolat. Then it was back for a dip in the pool after our adventure. Other must see local places are Bergerac, Sarlat and all the Chateaus (of which there are many). Mauzac-et-Grand-Castang is the closest village and it has a wonderful restaurant on the water. I thoroughly recommend a stay at La Bergerie.

Appreciation sejour bergerie

One Irish/one English-born South African couple. United by their shared love for adventure, they have a particular fondness for the picturesque French countryside. As devoted homeowners, they revel in the tranquility of country living, with a keen appreciation for gourmet cuisine and fine wine. Their perfect days are spent in quietude, immersed in the pages of a good book.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this hamlet and its friendly locals on a European getaway, so decided to invest in our own French-based cottage. Mauzac et Grand Castang is a peaceful and verdant municipality located in the Dordogne. Here, you can discover the Saint-Roch and Saint-Pierre Saint-Paul churches or take a stroll along the banks of the Dordogne.

What makes this property unique

This enchanting region in the Dordogne is a perfect retreat from the fast pace of urban living, offering a haven for history enthusiasts with its plethora of Bastide towns. Outdoor lovers will be delighted by the opportunities to explore the area on foot or by bike, embracing the natural beauty that abounds. For those inclined towards water sports, Tremolat, located just four kilometers away, offers activities such as water-skiing and canoeing.

Gastronomy aficionados will find their bliss dining at the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Vieux Logis in Tremolat, or by making use of the fully equipped kitchen for those who prefer crafting their own gourmet meals. The region is also conveniently situated near notable attractions such as Sarlat, Les Eyzies (home to the museum of prehistoric man), and Le Bugue, making it an ideal base for exploring the rich cultural and historical tapestry of the area.
