My husband I stayed here for Memorial Day weekend for our anniversary. Everything was great! Will definitely stay again.
This was perfect for us. The cabin was clean, cozy, and cute. The Lube Room has an awesome vibe and yummy food. Short and easy drive to Bear Valley for skiing. We would definitely stay here again.
Perfect little snow cabin.
We had a wonderful time at this place, definitely recommend it. The cottage is cute and cozy with a fireplace and separate heaters for the main room and the bathroom, which by the way was my favorite part; huge bathtub, lots of space, great lighting and hooks to hang towels and wet (after snow) clothes, plus a convenient laundry basket. The kitchen is tiny but efficient, used the kettle for tea to warm us up after snow play and first thing in the morning.
The location is great, drove a couple of miles back to Big Trees National Park (amazing!) and a couple of miles up to a great little snow sledding park. The Lube Saloon (in the same parking lot) had great food so there’s no need to drive anywhere if you choose.
Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Perfect weekend getaway
We happened to go up on a weekend that a big snowstorm hit. It was magical for us watching the snow fall all around while we were cozy in a cabin for two. We loved our time there and cabin had all the amenities we needed. We brought our own food and cooked every meal. It’s a tiny kitchen only meant for one, with very basic tools, so don’t plan on being fancy. And bring your own spices and a heavy duty cutting knife since there is only table cutlery. There is a bar/eatery right next the hotel that is next to the cabin if you need to go out to eat. It was a perfect weekend for us and we would definitely go again.
Very well kept and cozy.
Another fun stay at the Dorrington cabin with my girlfriend. We really enjoy this little spot.
Private in a central location
This cottage is nicely appointed, with a very comfortable bed and a roomy, full bathroom. The kitchenette is quite small, but adequate. The location is somewhat noisy, positioned on an intersection with Hwy 4, but it gets soothingly quiet at night and we slept very well and felt rested in the mornings.
The only drawbacks were that the lighting was poor and comfortable chairs would be nice for reading.
Located within walking distance from the cottage are scenic trails and fire roads with endless views for hiking , mountain biking, or cross country skiing in Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Great swimming at Whites Pines Lake in Arnold. Bring your canoe or kayak and paddle the crystal clear Utica, Spicer, and Alpine Lakes. Bear Valley Ski Resort, Bear Valley Cross Country Ski Resort and the Bear Valley Music Festival are 20 minutes up the hill on Highway 4. Cottage is 5 miles up from Arnold and about 15 miles from Murphys - gold rush town known for their excellent wines and great restaurants.
The Stanislaus River is approximately five miles down the road. The day use area has picnic tables, barbecues and provides easy access into the river. Excellent place to have a picnic, fly fish or cool off with a nice swim.
Located close to wineries, lakes, rivers, golfing, caverns, Bear Valley Ski Resort and Stanislaus National Forest.
