**** High quality 4 person Studio apartment in Brides Les Bains, French Alps.

**** Direct access to Meribel and the 3 Valleys, the largest ski area in the world, via the high speed Gondola that links the spa town of Brides Les Bains directly in to the ski lifts in Meribel.

**** The apartment is approximately 300m from the centre of Brides Les Bains. The Gondola to Meribel is approximately just 200m further on from the centre.

**** The apartment comfortably sleeps four adults and has a fully fitted & equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher & coffee machine

**** There is a balcony with superb views with table and 4 chairs for outside dining.

**** The apartment block has a heated indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, gym, laundry facilities, ski & boot storage, underground secure parking, bar, restaurant, wi-fi, etc.

**** The 3 valleys ski area has 600 km of pistes on 275 slopes, serviced by 198 lifts between altitudes of 600m and 3200m & over 1300 snow canons. Truly awesome skiing.

Brides Les Bains:

Brides-les-Bains, is a lovely French Savoyard town created in 1848 and renowned for its slimming cures and spa.

This quaint old spa town, was the site of the Olympic Village for the 1992 Olympics. The Olympe gondola was built to link it with Les Allues and Méribel, in the heart of the Trois Vallées. As a result, the town is now widely recognised as offering an exceptional value for money gateway to the largest ski area in the world.

Brides-les-Bains has a number of bars and restaurants as well as two nightclubs and the only casino of the Three Valleys, all with prices well below those of Meribel and Courchevel. For non-skiers or more après-ski relaxation, it is possible to relax in the new large spa centre which offers traditional oriental baths, aromatics steam rooms and saunas. There’s also all the usual small town facilities such as a bank, small supermarket, pharmacy, shops, etc.

Meribel & The 3 Valleys:

The 3 Valleys consists of, among others, the following towns and resorts, Brides Les Bains, Courchevel 1300, Courchevel 1550, Courchevel 1650, Courchevel 1850, La Tania, Les Ménuires, Méribel Village, Méribel Centre, Méribel Mottaret, Saint Martin de Belleville & Val Thorens.

This is the largest ski area in the world and boasts 600 km of pistes on 275 slopes, serviced by 198 lifts between 600m and 3200m. There are also over 1300 snow canons. That really is an awesome amount of skiing.

In Meribel itself there is also the Olympic Center which has an ice rink, Olympic size pool with kids pool and slides and crèche facilities. There are plenty of shops selling everything you could want for, bars, cafes, medical facilities, banks, etc.

As Meribel is the central valley of the 3 Valleys, from here you have easy access to pretty much anywhere in the 3 valleys.

Skiing & Snowboarding Info:

Meribel is a favourite amongst the British snowboarders with good, varied terrain and tree runs. Steep free riding can be found untracked on Mont du Vallon. Lots of red runs for intermediate boarders and plenty of blues and greens for those starting out.

For experts, you are well catered for! The “Face” run was built for the womens downhill in 1992 Olympics. There are steep runs running from Tougnete back to Méribel.

For intermediates, Meribel and the 3 Valleys is considered a ‘paradise’ for you guys.

For beginners Meribel has a few excellent slopes and beginners areas including two new enclosed areas (‘Zen Zones’) at Plattieres, above Mottaret. Furthermore, as the beginners green runs in meribel are situated approximately half way up the valley (accessible from a bubble lift if you don't want to ski to or from them) they are never short of good snow, as you'll often find in other resorts where the green runs are on the shallow slopes near the towns and wear thin quickly.

Off piste – there are lots of runs suitable for the more accomplished. Mont Vallon offers a big choice of routes –quite steep at the top with easier slopes from the middle. In good conditions you can ski off-piste to one of the mid-stations of the Olympe gondola at end of day (or in exceptional conditions down to Brides itself).

In Meribel there are a number of ski & snowboard schools that cater for all ages and abilities from toddler to adult & novice to expert. Personally I have used the Magic in Motion ski School.for adult and child lessons and the ESF crèche. Both were excellent but I would highly recommend Magic for anyone wishing to have individual or group lessons.

There are a choice of lift prices depending upon age and how far you want to go. You can get a Mini pass that includes the main beginners area, a Meribel pass, a full Meribel valley pass that includes Meribel Mottaret, or one that covers the whole of the 3 valleys. You can also upgrade passes for just the days you wish to explore further a field. These lift passes also include the Gondola from Brides Les Bains to Meribel. The lift passes can now be booked online and are posted to your home address before you leave (allow adequate time). This credit card type pass can be kept and just topped up whenever you wish – either each year before you travel or while you’re there if you wish to upgrade for the next days skiing. These can be purchased on the Meribel-Alpina website, www.meribel-alpina.com.

There are two terrain parks in this area. The main Moonpark is accessed by the Arpasson draglift. It includes a triple kicker line for all levels with smooth take-offs, and the rails are advanced. There is a new step-up to step-down obstacle and S-Box. A new beginnesr area has been built with mini jumps, boxes and even a small boardercross.

About Alistair & Caroline Petty

My Wife and I live in Northamptonshire with our two children and in 2007 were fortunate enough to find the perfect location for a holiday apartment in the French Alps.

We now ski every year and are delighted if we can provide superb ski holiday accommodation for others and pass on our local knowledge to make the holiday as perfect as possible.

Alistair & Caroline Petty purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Alistair & Caroline Petty chose The Three Valleys

This apartment ticked all the boxes; it was in the 3 Valleys (our favourite ski resort), close enough to drive to & with excellent transport links (cheap flights & close to the “ski train”).

The apartment is also high up on the 4th floor so offers excellent views up to the mountains.

With a multitude of summer activities including mountain biking, walking, tennis, white water rafting, golf and many others, it is the perfect year round bolt hole.

Brides-Les-Bains, as well as offering superb value ski holidays to one of the World's best resorts, has always traditionally been a retreat for health & Spa enthusiasts. So, with the beautiful location & scenery, outside of the ski season there's still plenty to do.

What makes this apartment unique

The quality of the apartment with the beautiful solid wood furniture and typical Savoyard style cladding along with the charm and appeal of Brides-Les-Bains itself is lovely.

Being at the end of the block it has few, if any, passing guests resulting in a quiet relaxing atmosphere. This also means it benefits from an additional side window giving more lovely views and allowing essential extra ventilation that the other apartments don't have. As these apartments are so warm and cosy, this extra fresh air is a must.

We have also purchased top quality, anti-allergenic duvets and pillows and excellent cotton bedding & duvet / pillow protectors. Luxurious comfy bedding helps ensure that all important good nights sleep.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Thanks again for the great apartment & your helpful advice, it all made for a great holiday.”

“Your apartment was perfect for our ski holiday and I have no doubt it would be an excellent location during the summer months too. Three adults had a very comfortable weeks stay and as you stated, it can easily accommodate four adults. The kitchen is well equipped, we did not have to take anything and we cooked our meals every night without wanting for anything.

The Pool area and gym are a superb luxury. A couple of minutes walk to the Ski lift or use of the ski bus, as we had our own car we used that every day and found ample free parking at the lift.

An excellent week all-round. ……. We drove from Calais to Brides Les Bains on the auto routes, Toll charges were approx 70 euros each way and approx 580 miles. It took approx 10 hours.…… Thanks again Alistair.”

“… I just wanted to let you know that I had a very pleasant week there and hope to book the apartment again for the coming season.

All the information and directions you provided prior to my stay were very accurate and helped to make our stay much more pleasant. We took a hire car from the airport and drove to Bride le Bains which I think was probably the best way to get there. Having the car also made it easier if we wanted to ski late or visit a different area”.

It did exactly what it said on the tin!

We arrived at tea time on the Saturday having followed the sent directions. We were greeted by a very pleasant, homely and spotless apartment . The welcome pack, wine and ski passes (all pre ordered) were waiting as promised. The facilities were more than adequate to meet our needs and we were extremely comfortable for the week. The apartment was warm, extremely quiet and convenient for amenities. Brides les Bain is a pleasant and not commercialised French village. It had everything you needed a bakery, a few bars and restaurants and a few shops. We hired our skis from the intersport shop on the premises of the apartment. The people were very friendly and helpful but it was a little bit of a trek carrying them to the gondola which is about a 10 minute walk.(there is a local free shuttle bus if you time it right) The gondola takes 27 minutes, its a pleasant and relaxing journey, to get to Meribel and a couple of minutes walk to the ski slopes. I would recommend renting a ski locker (50 Euros for three people) this saves carting your equipment up and down each day - the best decision we made all week. Communication between myself and the owner was excellent and you were told everything you needed in advance. If you are looking for a no frills but relaxing skiing or walking holiday I would recommend this apartment unreservedly. I will certainly be looking to return in the future

Having arrived around tea time on Saturday in Bride les Bain (having followed the sent directions) we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the apartment given the reasonable price. The apartment was warm and very clean with more than adequate facilities to meet our needs. As promised our welcome packs, wine and ski passes (pre ordered) were waiting for us. Bride les bain is a pleasant little spa town which isn't over commercialised. We rented our skis from the intersport shop on site they were very pleasant and helpful. This was very convenient but it was quite a way to carry them to the gondola.(there is a local free bus if you time it right!) I would advice that you on arrival in Meribel you rent a ski locker at the cost of 50 Euros per week (for three people) as this makes it so much easier not having to cart skis up and down the ski lift each day - it was the best decision of the week. The gondola ride takes 27 minutes but is a pleasant ride and we found it very relaxing. There were no queues to get the gondola at either end.

Communication from the owner was excellent and the whole process was a stress free experience. If you are looking for a no frills but comfortable skiing or walking holiday then I would recommend this apartment unreservedly. I shall certainly be looking to return.

Excellent (Warm, Clean, Good Wifi) Accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We (Dad & 17 yr Son) arrived late on Saturday night after a long drive and were welcomed to a warm, clean appartment and there were even beers in the fridge - nice touch. Pizza in oven while we unpacked & off to bed - job done!

We stayed at these residences last year so we knew what we were getting. Brides ticks all the boxes for us. For a start, it is not ski-city. I would estimate you probably save 40-50% on accommodation & restaurant costs compared with staying up at Meribel. Of course you have to catch a 30 min Gondola up to Meribel, but that is quite nice at the start & end of the day. You can easily ski from 9am to 5pm but make sure you don't miss the gondola back down - otherwise it will be an expensive taxi. There is a also a shuttle bus that operates in Brides between the residences and the gondola.

The accommodation was perfect for us - It has everything you need if you want to self-cater (oven, micro-wave, dishwasher, table & chairs). There is a TV with local channels which we did not really use. Instead we brought a PC and streamed Netflix through the WIFI - which was very good.

The owners run a use & replace policy for little things that you usually forget to bring (like T Rolls, Tea & Coffee, Dishwasher tabs). This worked great for us - and were happy to refill what we used. Others have obviously done the same, so it is very well stocked (even found some monster-munch)

We ate out most nights. Our favourite was the La Montagne Creperie/Pizzeria just a 5 min walk away. It has Savoire specialities, and is great value - 50 Euro for 2x 2x courses with beers is great value. There are a few other restaurants in the village so you could eat somewhere different every night if you want.

All in all, this was great for the 2 of us. Last year when we stayed there were 4 of us (2 other teenage sons), which is perfectly possible & comfortable if you are good at putting your things away.

Thanks for a great holiday.

IDEAL

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was ideal for our holiday. It was clean, warm, quiet and welcoming (inc a bottle of wine waiting for us which was much appreciated!) and larger than we had all imagined. We took the owners advice and did a shop in Moutiers, the Spar Shop was perfect for top-up provisions and the bakery sold lovely bread and naughty cakes! Unfortunately the pizza restaurant opposite was closed all week and we didn't try any other restaurants in the village. The swimming pool was warm, clean and not crowded. We didn't do any skiing; we were visiting our daughter who is a chalet girl in Meribel Village so I can say that the drive up the mountain was not too arduous and got easier with every trip! Thank you Ali and Caroline for wonderful R&R.

Excellent Stay

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on Saturday 6/2/16. Parking was hassle free, as was access to the apartment. Upon arrival, the apartment was clean and tidy and had a homely feel to it. The cupboards were nicely stocked with the essentials which was a welcome surprise and the Wi-Fi was excellent, we could stream films without a problem. Ski hire was a doddle, with the hire shop directly below the apartment and the discount on hire was a bonus. Ali was always happy to help with any questions we had. All in all, a great apartment in a lovely little town!

The most helpful & efficient service ever

  • 5 of 5

A lovely experience and a very efficient service.

Ali is a lovely man who let me book in to his apartment at such short notice. He was very polite and did everything in his power to make sure everything ran smoothly. When I asked him questions about airport transfers or just generally about Brides les Bains, he was so quick to reply and came back with such helpful advice. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better service. Thank you so much Ali, I will definitely be recommending you to friends.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: Please also note that a friend owns the apartment directly opposite across the landing from mine, so between the two, we can sleep up to 8. Being at the end of the corridoor there is virtually no passing traffic, so this can be a brilliant, flexible way of accommodating two families of four, rather than all sharing one apartment. Please ask for details as to whether his apartment is also available on the week that you want. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: I can provide any combination of linen (one double / four singles). Each set has two pillows, a duvet, quilted protectors, sheet, a bath towel and hand towel. There's also a bath mat and tea towels. All bedding is top quality & anti-allergenic. Other: There is a large double fitted wardrobe with plenty of space for a family of four. I have also installed WiFi that our guests can use for free. There are laundry facilities available accessed from the foyer.
