Þorkelsgerdi II is a 91m² renovated farmhouse located by the ocean in the peaceful and sparsely populated Selvogur. The house is spacious and light, has 3 bedrooms, an open kitchen/dining room, living room and bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped with a big dining table for 8 people or more. Children friendly with indoor and outdoor toys. Big, comfortable sofa in the living room. TV and DVD and a selection of books and games. Ocean view from the windows and 2 min. walk to the beach where seals and birds can be watched. Patio with gas grill, table and 8 chairs. Huge lawn, perfect for outdoor activities such as football, softball, Frisbee and kite flying.

Perfect either for the activity filled family vacation or the romantic getaway!

The Blue Lagoon: The Blue Lagoon is an hour's drive from Selvogur.

Seltún: Some 25 km from Selvogur (about 25 min drive) is the famed Krýsuvík geothermal area, Seltún, with its amazing solfataras, boiling mud springs, blowing steam vent and astonishing palette of colour. Just a few minutes’ drive from there are the stunning Krýsuvíkurberg cliffs, where sea birds by the thousands nest and the rolling waves of the Atlantic crash against the rugged shore. Both are examples of amazing natural beauty.

Comfortable, warm and clean

So enjoyable. Steinunn and Fridirik were kind and thoughtful hosts. The house was well equipped, warm and comfortable. The location was excellent, being only 100m from the beach and with amazing views of the Aurora (on 2 occasions) and night sky (including the Milky Way).

Hope to visit again.

Perfect base to explore Iceland from

We stayed here as a family of 4 for a week in October. The house was in a lovely location, right by the ocean, and was equipped with everything we could possibly need. Although we didnt meet Steinunn and Fridrik, they were easily contactable and sent lots of clear directions, instructions for the house, and links to information about things to do. And when we had an issue with water supply one evening, it was sorted by the time we woke up the next morning! Thank you so much for the use of your house, it was the perfect base for our holiday.

Very comfortable accommodation in great location

Stayed at this property for one week from 26th September 2017 on a self catering basis. Very comfortable and in a great location for travelling around the South. Warm and cosy with all mod cons. Communication with Steinunn and Fridirick was fab. Sent lots of links and directions prior to arrival. Accommodation was well large for two of us and would suit a big family. We certainly made a great choice. Seen the borealis on the second night. Great location for photography as it was right on the beach and North Atlantic. Had a great holiday.

Fantastic

This is a great house in a beautiful location. The house was easy to find with our GPS and the hosts communicated clearly and promptly when we had questions. The room with bunk beds had toys for our younger children to play with. We'd definitely stay here again. The ocean is a short walk away. There's a restaurant across the street (although we didn't try it) and groceries are available in town about 15 minutes drive East.

Modern, secluded, & relaxing!

Everything you hope a beach house will be! Super close to the water, stocked with books, cooking utensils, even a little extra coffee to help with the first day transition. Cute little church down the road, restaurant across the street, and a responsive owner who helped with a little ferry ride issue. The 5 seals laying on the rocks was a great touch!

Þorkelsgerði II is located in Selvogur in the county Ölfus on the south coast of Iceland. The house is situated on a big lot by the ocean, with birds and seals as neighbors. Nearby is the famous Strandarkirkja, an old church which is believed to have special powers to aid success or good luck, an old lighthouse and a small coffee house that is open in the summertime. Selvogur is 15 min. drive from the town of Þorlákshöfn, where you´ll find a swimming pool, a golf course, shops, restaurants and medical facilities. A further 15 min. drive is to the villages of Eyrarbakki og Stokkseyri, which are famous for their seafood restaurants and museums.

Selvogur is perfectly situated for day trips to The Blue Lagoon, Gullfoss, Geysir, Jokulsarlon and other attractions in the south of Iceland.

The Þorlákshöfn Golf Course, is one of the finest 18 hole golf courses in Iceland, with spectacular ocean view.

The swimming pool in Þorlákshöfn has indoor and outdoor pools, along with hot tubs and waterslides.
