RAYSTOWN LAKE is the only lake where no private homes are permitted to be built directly on it which makes it one of the most beautiful lakes in PA. There are Marinas and boat launch areas in 7 different sections of the lake. The northern end of the lake has the Visitors Center, Seven Points Marina with boat & slip rentals and a seasonal restaurant. The southern end has the Raystown Resort & Cafe with sight seeing tours on the Proud Mary.

Best of all our property is located on a dead end road with a turn around where you can hike down (length of a football field) to the lake which the Core of Engineers maintains. A few pictures of the path to the lake are in our web site which opens up into a beautiful no wake section of the lake.

We have a propane grill just off the screened in porch and picnic table in back yard.
FREE WIFI & large screen cable tv's

The kitchen has a new granite countertop, double sink and faucet, dishwasher, microwave & oven range & service for 12 people..
For children of any age we have plenty of children's books, games, cards & toys and a child's table with two chairs.

The focal point of the family room is of a hand painted mural on the wall of a wooded scene with waterfall bear and deer. The artist is a local and has painted many sides of buildings in downtown Huntingdon.

The lot is surrounded by mature trees and shrubs to add privacy for any time of the year. In mid to late April there are over a dozen Forsythia bushes in bloom, in May the flowering Cherry & Lilac bushes are in bloom. Rose bushes in the summer.
.
When our mountain well water has not been used over a few weeks spring or fall there could be an Initial Natural Sulphur odor which is common in this region. If this should occur simply run the water for awhile and the smell will disapate. It is safe and it's treated.

The driveway can hold up to 4 vehicles. We ask that vehicles be kept off the yard. A boat parking pad was newly installed for up to a 22' trailer. You can use the turn around at the bottom of Parks Road than drive back up than back the boat into the driveway & onto the boat parking pad. Unhitch your vehicle and go from there
.
In late fall and winter, we advise 4 wheel or all wheel drive vehicles. The township snow plows are good at spreading salt and plowing Piney Ridge and Parks Road, depending how deep the snow is, it may take longer than at other times.
We have snow shovels and salt in the pole barn.
Our rental is for family gatherings, age limit to rent is 28 . The person renting must remain for the rental.

We look forward to having you as our guests and to enjoy a slice of Heaven!
Thank you,

Fabulous & unforgetable
We stayed @ the property over Christmas! Loved the property & the location! I found the Shank’s to be the most accommodating hosts I have ever dealt with through VRBO. They went above & beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The property was very clean!! They allowed us to have an early check in & later check out, which was wonderful! We would have liked a little snow, but in lieu of that, we were able to enjoy a wonderful campfire after dinner on Christmas night after dinner, under a bright moon! Wonderful! Hope we can return again! I highly recommend this property! Deb G.

Awesome Rental
We absolutely loved this property. We spent 10 glorious nights. The highlights of this property for our family would have been the screened in porch and ping pong table. Both were enjoyed for hours. We will definitely make a return visit to this “home away from home.” Bill and Doris are amazing hosts.

Great Stay
Thank you so much for opening your home to us! Very spacious. The game room was a big hit, and the screened in porch area is a bonus for sure. All of the furnishings are top notch and comfortable. My 14year old grandsons enjoyed the early morning fishing just a short walk to the lake. Location was great for us and close to the Marina. We have already booked for next year!

Soon after we finished the cabin we decided to rent it out to others for summer vacations. It has been an enjoyable experience to have new guests & repeat guests come and go each year to this beautiful area..
We hope everyone has a chance to visit the Raystown Lake Region to experience it for themselves.

Why they chose this property

The Location was the key to building on this established lot. Driving up Piney Ridge Road for the first time was an adventure in itself, with the curves in the winding road & being able to look down over the ridges into the towns & valleys below.

There is so much to do in and around this area of Raystown Lake. Its just a few miles to Seven Points Marina and the town is just a few minutes back down Piney Ridge Rd to Rt 22, close to grocery stores, gas stations, pizza shops, many restaurants & shopping, walk in medical center at the Lake Raystown Shopping Center. Walk thru the historic district.
Having access to cable TV & good Internet reception were a few reasons we chose to build on this lot. The nice wooded setting has privacy even after the leaves fall, in the winter you can see thru the trees to the lake. We welcome you to spend time here to unwind and relax in the comfort of our rustic home decorated with a bear theme.
Parks Road is a dead end road with a path to hike down to the a no wake section of Raystown Lake which is maintained by the Army Core of Engineers which is an added bonus. We are not attached to the lake, & no privately owned homes are on the lake.
We are close to Raystown Lake Visitors Center and Seven Points Marina and the beach area & Alegrippis trials.
We hope you will choose to stay at our property and see for yourself all the comforts of home and beauty this area has to offer!

What makes this property unique

The location of this property makes it very unique. Having all the comforts of home during the summer and winter months & close enough to hike to the lake.
There is a boat parking pad as you enter the driveway, plenty of parking for other vehicles.
Great screened in porch.
