About this property

Cosy, quiet, sleeps 2 apartment very close to the Chain Bridge and the Basilica

Ground Floor apartment located in Nador Street, in the prestigious, central area of District 5. After passing through the shabby chic charm of a typical 19th century Hungarian courtyard, you reach our cosy apartment which has been renovated in a sympathetic fashion; keeping some special features such as the vaulted brick ceiling, whilst furnishing and equipping it to an excellent modern standard. The accommodation is spread over two floors, with the kitchen, eating and living area downstairs, and the spacious bedroom upstairs. There are several dozens of restaurants close by, from inexpensive all the way to first class international cuisine. In fact you are only two minutes away from some of the best and most popular restaurants in Budapest including the Michelin star rated Borkonyha (Wine Kitchen). All forms of public transport -metro, tram and bus are also in the immediate area. The Danube and the beautiful Chain Bridge are a 1 minute walk, and you can visit all the top Budapest attractions on foot. Our English speaking taxi driver can meet you at the airport or train station and take you to the apartment.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THERE IS A NARROW STAIRCASE IN THE APARTMENT TO THE UPPER FLOOR WITH UNEVEN STEPS. I'M SORRY BUT IT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES. THERE IS ALSO A SMALL STEP DOWN AS YOU ENTER THE APARTMENT.

Great stay in Budapest
This was the perfect apartment for us to explore Budapest for the first time. An ideal location right in Old Town next to many of the top attractions including the Chain Bridge, Elizabeth Square and St Stephen’s. There are many restaurants and public transport is close. The apartment itself is well appointed with everything you need. We loved the bedroom with the beautiful curved brick ceiling. Bridgett was absolutely awesome. We had some transport challenges and Bridgett was very flexible and supportive to make sure that they did not impact our trip. Her communication was fast and helpful. Highly recommend this apartment if you are visiting the beautiful city of Budapest.

Central but quiet
Only one block from the Danube and a short walk to the Cathedral, the apartment was ideal for a stay in Budapest.

Ideal location, central with easy access to many attractions. Small but ideal for a couple. Very quiet. narrow stair to bedroom could be awkward for some but not a huge problem.

Myself (Bridgett Gill) and my partner (Brendan Wheatley) are in our sixties and involved in the world of opera. We run Swansea City Opera, a mid scale opera company which tours all over the UK, and a registered charity. The history, culture and love of music of the Hungarian people were a great influencing factor in our decision to buy a classical apartment in Budapest. We were looking for an investment for our retirement and had planned to visit three countries before making our choice, but after seeing the beauty of Budapest and finding the Hungarian people so friendly and welcoming, we decided to look no further. We hope you love the city us much as we do!

Why they chose this property

Why we chose this location: Because we live in a very old cottage in Wales and love historic houses, we were looking for a building and apartment that had history and original features. We think we have found the perfect apartment and have completely renovated and restored it with a lot of love and thought. As well as being in a beautiful building, the apartment is close to all forms of public transport, and central to all the tourist attractions and the Opera House. In addition, because we love good food and wine, we chose a location with good restaurants close by! By the way I can heartily recommend Hungarian wine, not a lot of it is sold abroad as they keep most of it for themselves!
We took our time over renovating our apartment because we wanted to preserve the old Hungarian character whilst having all the advantages of modern living.

What makes this property unique

The apartment was a former stables and we have preserved the vaulted brick ceiling which is a unique feature. Being on the ground floor the apartment could have been cold in the winter, so we have added underfloor hearing and have put 3 inch insulation on the walls, making it really cosy when it is chilly outside.
