About this property

Buttercup Lodge , Lovely family/pet friendly by River Tees, near Barnard Castle

Buttercup Lodge are pet and family-friendly, river fishing and beautiful countryside.
There are 3 lodges , they sit by themselves , on the edge of the river Tees in spectacular countryside. Upriver, the Tees cascades over High force, flows down through the historic town of Barnard Castle, with the majestic Bowes Museum, past the lodges and on to Piercebridge.
Many cosy local pubs to a Michelin Star restaurant, makes sure you never go hungry or thirsty. Family attractions Raby Castle, Beamish museum, high force waterfall ect..

Fishing access to over a 1 mile of private salmon and trout fishing. If you would like to fish, you will require a valid rod licence and a prepaid permission letter from us, for the days you would like to fish, fishing without prepayment and permission notice, could lead to prosecution.

Highcliffe Waters Lodges are also ideally situated for walkers, with the Teesdale Way passing through the site.

The 92 mile long Teesdale Way runs from Cow Green near the source of the river, all way to the sea and it links up with the Cleveland Way and Pennine.

There are many shorter circular walks running along the banks of the river, all of which are very well marked.

Lovely cabin by the river
We stayed he as a family of five over Easter weekend and it was perfect. The lodge is well equipped if you want to cook your own meals, and a patio table and chairs are provided for a bit of al-fresco dining when the weather is nice. A short walk takes you down by the river and a couple of pubs within a few miles walk/drive. Used as a base to explore the area, we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely visit again.
