This is a beautiful penthouse apartment in a romantic Bourgeois building located on a quiet street in the centre of Cannes. This duplex is conveniently located just off rue d'Antibes, the main shopping street, and 3mins walk to the Croisette, Cannes beach and the Palais des Festivals. It is 250m from the old port , the main restaurant area and Cannes train station which connects to all the main resorts along the Riviera. Self catering accommodation including three good sized bedrooms sleeping 6 with ease. Spacious and bright with a sun filled rooftop terrace and many features including original tiled floors, high ceilings, wooden spiral staircase and wood burning stove. Air conditioning is installed throughout the apartment. The upstairs of the apartment has been fully renovated in 2015 including installation of a modern bathroom with an Italian shower, a Chabert Duval Oak Kitchen and new floor tiling throughout.

Lift installed in the building. TV, DVD, CD, Wireless internet, Nespresso machine.

Newly Furnished: The apartment has been newly furnished, is in very good repair and contains many attractive features including high ceilings, beautifully tiled floors (original), feature stove and chimney as well as a wood and iron spiral staircase.

Ideal for families or large groups: This duplex apartment contains two very defined and separate areas with each floor containing a bathroom, kitchen, dining and sitting area. Entrance can also be gained separately for each floor. The terrace gets sun from 11 am until sunset and it is set up for dining outdoors and taking in views of Cannes and a partial view of the sea.

Enjoy a cool drink whilst taking in the setting sun on the rooftop terrace. Look forward to a delicious meal in any one of the many restaurants nearby. Drop in for a flutter in the Casino at the Palais on your way home.

Brought up on the East coast of Ireland, I am married with three children. I am a chemical engineer and I currently work for an international building materials group. I love to travel as part of my work and, of course, for holidays. I am living in Ireland although I have lived for extended periods in the UK, France, Zambia and Ukraine. Why John chose Centre Ville

Being a wine lover I have always enjoyed holidaying in France. A friend bought a place in Nice in 2005 and this brought my attention to the unique attractions of the Cote d'Azur. Cannes is a more compact town and is easier to explore on foot than Nice. It has great shopping, beautiful sandy beaches, wonderful restaurants and much more. This property stood out as being particularly suitable for our family of two adults and three (growing) children. It has lots of room for everyone to flop out and do their own thing both indoors and outdoors on the large terrace upstairs. Since 2007 we have holidayed here each year in June and September and otherwise we try to get down here for weekends in May and October with family and friends.

What makes this apartment unique

High ceilings and beautiful original tiled floors downstairs. Large sun filled terrace upstairs (at roof top level) with views towards the sea and the old town. Very few properties in the centre of Cannes can offer such a large and sunny terrace.

This is a Duplex Apartment in a beautiful old Bourgeois building in the heart of Cannes. The downstairs area consists of a very large salon and dining area, a kitchen, a large bedroom and a bathroom (high ceilings throughout). Access to the upstairs area is via a spiral staircase (or alternatively via a separate entrance on the upstairs floor). The upstairs area comprises two bedrooms, a bathroom, sitting area, kitchen with breakfast bar. There is also access to the terrace from this sitting area and from one of the bedrooms. The terrace is ideal for dining alfresco and also gets the sun all of the day from 11am. There is an elevator in the building.

Centrally located with easy access to beaches, food, shopping & fun!

We enjoyed our stay here very much. This apartment is spacious and allowed our family of three, and two in laws, to vacation together in great spirit. We found the description to be quite accurate. The apartment has some older features but is very clean. John, the owner provided us with wonderful and timely communication at every opportunity. He even gave us a guide to the apartment and surrounding area which is quite helpful.

During our visit we went to the outdoor market almost every day and bought the most delicious, and beautiful food from farmers who live near by. We also spent time on the beach near the Palais, and took a few drives to beaches near by in Ferjus. The parking location John recommended provided us with easy access to our car, for a relatively low rate.

We absolutely recommend this apartment as a great place to stay. It is especially wonderful for families, couples traveling together, small groups (girlfriends getaways), etc.

From your review it is clear that you really made the most of all that the apartment and the Cannes area has to offer. For the benefit of future guests I would like to add that after the recent renovations of the train station and the local bus terminus (which are within 200m of the apartment) it is now possible to visit almost anywhere both along the coast and inland of Cannes by (high quality) public transport. We regularly use the apartment which at this stage we regard as a second home. For our own benefit and for the benefit of our guests we carry out additional improvements each year, all the while making sure to retain the traditional features that are such an important part of the charm of the place. Looking forward to welcoming you and your family to Cannes at some time in the future.

Great Apartment, Lovely Location, Right in the Heart of Downtown Cannes

We had a wonderful time, the apartment was perfect for our family reunion visiting our granddaughter. Very clean apartment with everything you need to cook if you want to stay in for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Close to everything for shopping and enjoying the City of Cannes. I have only one suggestion, it is not a criticism. An installation of a grab bar for getting in and out of the tub would be helpful for an older person. It was a lovely vacation, a lovely apartment and a lovely city. Thank you!

was very pleased with the view from the upper terrace and a really short distance to Palais de Festivals. This apartment is great option for two families or a larger group of friends. I would certainly recommend this.

Incredible location - 2 flats in one

We've stayed in Cannes before so were looking for something central for our most recent visit. The location of this apartment is absolutely perfect. It is as good as central to Cannes as you can realistically get.

Another bonus we hadn't fully appreciated from the description of the property is the layout. Clearly, at some stage, the 2 floors were individual flats - joined at a later time by a spiral staircase. We were 2 families traveling (with a child each 5yrs and 2yrs) and once we'd split off for the night - we literally didn't hear a thing from each other.

A little care needs to be taken with children and the spiral staircase, however, this would be true of any stairs and children.

We would definitely recommend this property and will likely return.

I have owned the apartment since 2007 and as far as I know it was the previous owners who had the idea of joining the two apartments together using this traditional French spiral staircase. The apartment is ideal for two families or, as is often the case, for a family with parents and teenage children who need their own space. The arrangement seems to induce a greater level of harmony between the generations which makes a holiday so much more enjoyable!

This was our second visit to this beautiful appartment and we were not disappointed. We were two families holidaying together and this appartment comfortably accommodates sevenpeople. It has a perfect central location but is peaceful at night so ideal. The appartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The balcony is a real bonus and a lovely place to relax in the evening. We hope to return again one-day.

Spacious Cannes Holiday Rental

This is a lovely roomy, clean, well appointed apartment is situated within walking distance the beach, shops, station, restaurants and many of the local attractions. We were three mature couples and this apartment worked really well for us. The detailed list of instructions provided by the owner for the apartment and any services that might be required was a great help. As with many of the older areas around Europe there was no parking with the apartment however there was secure parking available nearby.

They were good enough to water the plants on the terrace during a very hot spell when the automatic watering system was not able to handle the heat. I feel that the apartment should be a home from home for my clients and I believe that this was the case in this instance. John

The apartment is located in the centre of Cannes, just 50m from Rue d'Antibes (the main shopping street of Cannes), 250m from the Palais de Festivals, 250m from the beach, 250m from the old port and 200m from the train station connecting Cannes with Monaco, Nice, Antibes, Juan les Pins and other popular beach resorts along the French Riviera. Rue Buttura is a quiet street with little or no traffic day or night therefore you can get full benefit of the roof terrace (not overlooked) which gets sun from 11.00am until sunset each day. Visit the boutiques on rue d'Antibes, browse in the nearby markets of Forville and Gambetta, have a coffee or light lunch in da Laura around the corner..... There is something for everyone in the family to do within easy walking distance.

Linen and towels are charged at €20 per person per week. A security deposit of €500 applies in all cases. This will be reimbursed in full assuming that there are no major losses or breakages.
