17 Shimna mile is a newly built first floor apartment in a very quiet residential area only five minutes walk from the centre of Newcastle, the sea or cross the road and head up into the mountains by foot. The apartment faces straight onto the mountains and gives you a wonderful view. Bright all day there is a combined kitchen, living and dining area fully equipped including washing machine, tumble driver, TV, DVD, fridge freezer and yes if you want internet we have that as well!

We have 2 double bedrooms one with en-suite facilities the other adjacent to a full bathroom. Gas heating is very efficient and on cold days this is a cosy apartment. Easy to park, uninterrupted views and great facilities for a relaxed holiday.

Please remember this is a first floor apartment with no lift but the stairwell is bright and easy access - 15 steps.

Excellent location in quiet residential area close to Newcastle. Wonderful views of Donard.

We had a four night stay. The apartment was well equipped , modern and very tastefully furnished and most importantly very clean. It provided an ideal base from which to access the surrounding area and Newcastle. Have no hesitation recommending it . We would love to return at a later date as we found so much to explore. The only criticism I would make is there was a lack of information on recycling and use / location of bins. Excellent in every way . Thank you for enabling us to have such a lovely refreshing break. Excellent flat in a great location

Flat is lovely with everything necessary for a lovely holiday. Dogs had a fantastic time with plenty of great walks nearby. Would recommend this flat and would be happy to go back

Beautiful apartment with fabulous views and only 10 minutes walk from the nearest shops, cafes and restaurants. Comfy, very clean and tidy and everything is provided for your stay from towels to washing up liquid. Great communication and very friendly. Thank you Alan and David, we will be back!!!

Stayed in January 18 for a week and found the apartment to have everything we needed including very efficient heating - important for a January stay. The apartment is extremely clean and tidy and the owner Alan made us very welcome when we arrived. We will definitely come back if we stay in Newcastle again. The apartment is close enough to the centre of Newcastle to walk to restaurants, shops etc

The warmest apartment I've ever stayed in and the owner was extremely helpful and generous. The view from the living room is superb and the kitchen had a full range of utensils....including all the little extras provided. Would definitely revisit at some point.

Mourne Mountain Views

We had a great stay, the apartment is in a great location, walking distance to everything.

clean and comfortable, we would walk right out the door to the access point to the Mourne Mountains all day hiking and back again, next day walking to access of the Tollymore forest, could ask for anything better. evening walks along ocean boardwalk. We had a great trip.

Golf: Royal County Down is located in one of the world’s most naturally beautiful links settings in the Murlough Nature Reserve. The narrowest ribbons of fairways thread their way through as impressive a set of sand dunes as could be imagined. The fairways are surrounded by purple heather and golden gorse, so beautiful to look at but so punishing for any who may stray from the prescribed path.The finest of all links courses, it offers a stern challenge from the championship tees. From the Stableford tees it offers golfers of all standards the opportunity of playing a truly great course with dramatic panorama of the surrounding mountains and coastline.

The Annesley Links at Royal County Down shares the same magnificent setting as the Championship Links and is full of character. Although much shorter than the Championship Links, it is still a very testing course, with magnificent views of sea, mountains and dune land.

Founded in 1889 Golf Digest described it as the best course in the world outside of the United States.
