Wibble’s Retreat offers you a converted two storey barn including beams and character, with modern convenience and heating for the cold months in a comfortable and fully furnished home.
There is use of the swimming pool, which is open between April & October, weather dependent, for exclusive guest use, however, the garden is shared with the owners.

There is a graveled driveway at the rear of the property, which is accessed via the adjoining lane. This provides secure off-road parking.
The ground floor has a well-equipped modern kitchen, with a hallway leading to the downstairs cloakroom.
From the kitchen is a step up to a large dining room with double doors to the lower patio.
You can sit outside on the two-tier patio to enjoy the sunshine, or relax on a sun lounger in the garden, overlooking the swimming pool.
The staircase leads up to a spacious sitting room with two large sofas.
The master bedroom has a double bed, plenty of drawer space and an ornate, freestanding hanging rail, with loads of hangers for your clothes.
A doorway leads to the en-suite shower room, with heated towel rail.
There are four pillows, a duvet, bed linen and a selection of hand and bath towels. There is also a hair dryer provided.
The twin bedroom has two single beds, with bed linen provided.
There are two x 3 seater sofas in the sitting room.
We can provide a stair gate if required.
A spacious family bathroom with a shower, heated towel rail and a selection of hand and bath towels.
There are electric central heating radiators in the sitting room and both bedrooms, for use during the winter months, November-February.
We provide initial supplies of dishwashing tablets, toilet rolls, condiments, cooking oils, tea, coffee and sugar.
Up the steps from the patio is the swimming pool and decking area, you will find suitable towels in the downstairs cloakroom.
The Wi-Fi in the gîte will enable you to keep in touch online and there is a good mobile phone signal here too.

A warm welcome awaits you at Wibble’s Retreat, which is situated in one of the sunniest and friendliest regions of France. There are many beautiful walks along quiet rural lanes on which to enjoy the summer fields of beautiful Sunflowers, or wild flowers in the Spring. There are numerous, picturesque cycle routes around the locality and quiet lanes on which to cycle and enjoy the rural countryside, which surrounds us. These are suitable for novice through to experienced cyclists - something for everyone.
It is a 5km drive to our nearest town of Civray, which has a market on a Tuesday and Friday morning and we are just 3kms away from two supermarkets, Super U and Lidl. There is an Intermarché and Aldi in Savigné an a Leclerc in Ruffec.
If you enjoy fresh pastries for breakfast, there are three boulangeries within a short drive, at Civray, Savigné and Charroux. There is also an excellent café in Charroux for breakfast or lunch and pub style meals offered at The Green Man in Charroux.
O’City Ven in Civray offers a fabulous lunch and dinner menu.
There are some excellent restaurants in the area; our favourite for lunch is Le Moulin de Verteuil in Verteuil-sur-Charente, where you can also see the beautiful Verteuil Chateau (The gardens are occasionally open to the public.) Also in Verteuil is the restaurant Porte Bleu, which serves wonderful food at reasonable prices.
Nanteuil-en-Vallee has two excellent restaurants: Auberge de l'Argentor and Auberge le Saint Jean, although it is advisable to make a reservation.
There are many picturesque places to visit: Confolens on the River Vienne is beautiful, a great place to visit the market, shops and restaurants. In August they have a weeklong International Dance Festival - you will be able to see parades in the streets and watch some of the numerous demonstrations and concerts.
If you enjoy seeing Monkeys in a natural setting, then Vallée des Singes is the perfect place to visit. You will have a great view of Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Bonobos and other monkeys, also there are children’s play areas, as well as a small petting area - with many Pygmy Goats! There is a good restaurant for snacks & lunch and you can quite easily spend a whole day here.
Futuroscope is a popular theme park, about an hours drive from here -great for children age 7+.
The historic town of Angoulême, which is the region’s capital, is a must place to visit and is only a 40 minute drive. It has TGV link to Paris and other large cities. There is also the excellent Nautilis Water Park and a lake with pedal boats, nearby at Saint-Yrieix-sur-Charente.
For history lovers; Check out the many historic places on the 'Lion-Heart' trail. Richard I's entrails were buried in Chalus, which is close to Limoges, just over an hour's drive. His body was entombed further north, in Fontevraud Abbey.
The village of Oradour-sur-Glane, which was destroyed by the Nazis on the 10th June 1944 - and now maintained as a permanent memorial with an excellent museum, is about an hour away.
