The Château de Lans is a jewel where it is pleasant to live in a setting where modernity doesn’t prevail over authenticity. The geographical location is unique and mixes quietness of the countryside with proximity of the town.
Our clients appreciate the luxury renovation we made and all these little details that make the difference: (quality Sofitel king size bed, professional sauna and hammam, many leisure activities on site and salt water pool heated to 28° from 1st April to 31th October). Professional approach and service without failure. Service approach for wine and gastronomy lovers.
"Chateau de Lans is an idyllic holiday retreat to chill out in the Burgundy countryside. Spacious, very comfortable accommodation set in large grounds with a heated pool. The owner was the perfect host and nothing was too much trouble. During our stay he also showed us around Chateau Mercurey, which at the time was nearing completion. It looks truly superb!"
The chateau is tastefully furnished with great attention to detail, and every facility provided. A beautiful country location, but close to all amenities. Christophe was very welcoming and helpful. A wonderful place for a gathering of family or friends. None of us wanted to leave!
Our family enjoyed a great week at Chateau de Lans and we could not have expected to have a better host than Christophe. Everything thing about the Chateau met or exceeded our expectations. The chateau is clean, comfortable and very well appointed, nothing is lacking for an extended stay. The grounds are beautiful, the beds are comfortable, and the kitchen is very well equipped. Christophe's suggestions regarding restaurants and shops was very helpful and the wine tasting at his home was a highlight of our visit.
Between the city and the countryside, the Château de Lans is ideally located to explore Burgundy, its wine cellars and its treasures.
Tourism in the surrounding of the Château de Lans:
The historical centre of Chalon-sur-Saône is 5 minutes and Beaune is only 20 minutes.
The Photography Museum - Chalon-sur-Saône (5km)
It is in Chalon-sur-Saône that Nicéphore Niepce, the inventor of photography, was born. Its home town dedicated a museum to him and its art. In a very beautiful private mansion on the banks of the Saône are gathered some cameras from all periods. In the different rooms, the visitor will initiate himself to different techniques used to reproduce the reality on paper and will discover very beautiful temporary photos exhibitions.
Hospices de Beaune – Beaune (37 km)
Famous for their auction of wines each year in November, the Hospices de Beaune are, with their marvellous varnished coloured tiled roof, one of the most emblematic sites to visit in Burgundy. Treasure of the Burgundy-Flemish art, the Hospices de Beaune also house some very beautiful paintings including “The last Jugement” by Roger van der Weyden, the leader of religious painting in the 15th century.
Château de Couches – Couches (32 km)
Clinging to its rock, the Château de Couches soars up amidst the green and rolling landscape of the vineyards of the Côte Chalonnaise. Access is by a drawbridge that stands as witness to the defensive role that the château had in by-gone days. Today it is possible to visit the chapel, the prison and the square dungeon dating back from the 12th century.
Château de Cormatin - Cormatin (42 km)
Built in the 17th century on the remains of a 13th castle, the Château de Cormatin is without a doubt one of the most elegant châteaux in Burgundy. Its truly beautiful gardens which include a maze, were highly appreciated notably by François Mitterrand and Alphonse de Lamartine. In summer the château holds a festival in the theatre called “Rendez-vous de Cormatin”.
The Hérisson Falls - Jura (90 km)
Two streams join to make a series of waterfalls, each one more beautiful than the last. 31 falls, some over 60 metre high, go to make up the Hérisson Waterfalls. A way marked footpath of 3.7 km allows you to see the beauty of this exceptional nature site.
Cluny Abbey – Cluny (56 km)
On the eve of second millennium Burgundy was a region of high spiritual importance due to Cluny Abbey. This Benedictine Abbey built in the 10th century was the centre of the religious word and its church was no less than the largest in the Christian world. Destroyed during the Revolution, the abbey lives today only through its impressive remains and an archeological museum that allows visitors to imagine what it was like in its glorious past.
Chalon dans la Rue – Chalon-sur-Saône (5 km)
Each year, for 4 days, and during the third week-end of July (from Thursday night to Sunday night), the streets of Chalon-sur-Saône are transformed into the stage of a multitude of live performances (jugglers, plays, concerts, acrobats, circus acts, etc.) during the biggest festival of street theatre in France.
Fun Park des Combes – Le Creusot (45 km)
Laid around a disused railway line, the Parc des Combers offers visitors a whole range of activities in a natural setting covering 170 acres. According to your taste and whim, whether you prefer a spine chilling ride on the big dipper or if you prefer the relaxing roll of an old stream engine, this park has something for everyone: summer toboggan, aerial runway, stream train, fairground rides, etc.
Green Way – Chalon-sur-Saône (4 km)
From Chalon-sur-Saône to Charnay-lès-Mâcon, tens of km of old railway track have been converted into a cycle track. Surrounded by rolling landscapes, alternating between vineyards and forest, this flat (or almost) Green Way, lends itself perfectly to cycling or rollerblading or simply walking. The track goes through several charming villages and you can also admire sites: Cluny, Cormatin, etc.
Acrogivry – Givry (15 km)
At Givry, some 15 acres of oak trees are reserved for adventure in the tree tops. More than 18 circuits and 150 aerial games have been created for visitor from young children to really tough adventurers. Those who like thrill won’t be disappointed by the giant 250 m aerial runway.
