If you are driving from Calgary we are only 2.5 hours drive. The drive itself is incredible. Take your time and take in the world renowned views with a day stop in Canmore, Banff and Yoho National Parks. Horizon Hideaway is a day trip to any of the 5 national parks, (Jasper, Banff, Yoho, Glacier, and Kootenay) also, Mount Revelstoke Provincial park.
If your a sledder this is the perfect place to stay for day tripping to Gorman, Holt, Kinbasket Lake area and only minutes from off loading at Hospital creek. We have plenty of parking for trailers and trucks. Guided rafting or snowmobiling trips are minutes away at Wet n' Wild/White n' Wild. Or contact our incredible sledshop, Mountain Motor Sports for information on rentals and parts and services.
Planning to ski at Kicking Horse, Snowcat ski at Chatter Creek, or Heliski with our world renowned hell-ski companies stay here. We are minutes away from staging areas.

Family Ski Vacation

Property was easily accessible, and a beautiful, quiet location in the woods. Owner (Nicole) was extremely accommodating and very communicative, ahead of, during and after our stay. We enjoyed the fully-stocked kitchen and games room, along with the wonderful boot/mitt/gear dryer and flexible sleeping arrangements. Thx much!

Great Place to Stay

Really enjoyed our stay here, a garage full of games was great for the kids and the house was spacious and very comfortable. Would definitely recommend!

Perfect for a family gathering

The location was convenient to town but far enough away for privacy. Nicole responded very quickly to our requests. The house was clean, well equipped and layed out. I would recommend this property to families and groups.

Awesome place for our family to be together in Golden to celebrate a wedding.

This house was a great place to stay while in town for a wedding. Conveniently located close to town yet out in a quiet area. Spacious interior lent itself to easy going hospitality together. Comfy beds, and ample kitchen and other supplies. Sauna was a wonderful, relaxing addition!

Justin and Nicole met while kayaking the Kicking Horse River which flows through the town of Golden. I (Nicole) grew up in Golden as a loggers daughter when the areas main economy was forestry. I enjoyed time as youth worker, ski patrol at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, tail ski guide at Chatter Creek Mountain Lodges and River Raft Guide on the Kicking Horse River, in Chile and Peru. I also LOVE to travel and meet people of all cultural heritages. Having travelled to many places I still decided to make Golden my home and the place I raise my family. I appreciate the natural beauty and adventure opportunities Golden and the surrounding area has to offer. I have been renting my homes for nearly 20 years and love the people I have met.
Justin was born a prarie boy, born and raised in Saskatoon Sask. He moved to Jasper and then Inveremere in search of mountain adventure. He studied and became a journeyman carpenter and soon settled in Golden BC where he met Nicole, started his carpentry business and family. We have three lovely boys Nathan, Dawson, and Logan.
We want them to grow up appreciating nature and adventure; to feel the tranquility and excitement the mountains, rivers and forests share with us.

Why they chose this property

Horizon Hideaway is a dream come true for Nicole and Justin. The 30 acre property was initially purchased by Justin, his dad Elmer and brother Mark, a dream they all had to have a home in the mountains. Mark first built his family home. Elmer and wife Johanna built a cabin.
The family then developed 3 full service camp stalls and camp area. We have held lovely family reunions here for Canada day for many years.
This year Justin and Nicole have taken the opportunity to build a vacation home for you to stay and enjoy any or all of the incredible adventures our area has to offer.
This is a quiet property with rabbits, deer, birds, a creek, located on a road used by locals for access to their homes.

What makes this property unique

We love this property. I especially love the sound of the creek rushing past on the lower property, the birds, deer, and fresh air. The views are world class. I love to look out and see the Dogtooth range and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort to the west. Behind the house is a forested slope where kids can adventure and toboggan. Try to find the forts our kids have already built.
The upper deck provides a large area for enjoying morning coffee, reading a book or star gazing. The parking area has plenty of space to park vehicles, trailers or even an RV. This home is 3mins to the Trans Canada Highway for access to unlimited adventure; a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to the town of Golden; a 20 minute drive to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort; and a 1 to 11/2 hour drive to Banff/Yoho, Glacier and Kootenay National Parks.
