1 Bedroom cottage with spectacular views
- english, french
Over the years lots of people have asked why we decided to move to France. The only answer we have ever really been able to come up with is that ‘we fancied a bit of a change’. And that’s really all there was to it. At the time we had very little understanding of the country or its people, naively thinking, ‘How different can it be ? It’s only across the channel’. Stupid right ? But that was such a long time ago. Here we are now, 16 years later, living in a part of the world that really is truly amazing. The scenery, even after all this time, can still take your breath away. We enjoy some of the best food and wine in the world. We have the space to grow our own vegetables, rear our own animals and have settled into country life in a way that we never could have imagined. But most of all it’s the quiet that really makes a difference. Whether it’s a warm summer’s morning or a crisp winter’s day, it will always be peaceful and very very quiet. But don’t just take our word for it, come and see for yourself….
What makes this Cottage unique
What makes this property really special are the views. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine on a summers evening, watching the spectacular sunsets over the valley and the chateau, will give you holiday memories to take away and cherish forever.

From canoeing to fishing, historical caves to taking a ride in a hot air balloon, there is something for everyone here in the south west of France.
Known as the birthplace of modern man, the Dordogne Valley is steeped in history and what seems like spectacular views around every corner. We are towards the south of the Dordogne, on the outskirts of the town of Rouffignac St Cernin. Close to all the main site seeing attractions and with caves in our village, we are well situated for you to explore the area and all it has to offer.
A short drive will take you to the National Museum of Prehistory at Les Eyzies. Designated a UNESCO world heritage site in 1979, it is the perfect place to start exploring the many caves in the area.
We are also close to the caves of Lascaux in Montignac, one of the first ever colour cave paintings to be discovered. A twenty minute drive to the north will take you to the ancient city of Perigueux, where you can walk the cobbled streets, enjoy the spectacular architecture and experience the lively hustle and bustle of a French market.
Heading south will take you to the area known as the Golden Triangle, stretching from the medieval city of Sarlat to the chateaux at Castelnaud and Marqueyssac. From here you can take a boat trip along the river and enjoy views of the picture perfect villages of Beynac, Domme and Roque Gageac.
If you are looking to relax and unwind, learn about the history of the area or take part in something a little more adventurous. With something for everyone, the Dordogne really is the perfect holiday destination
