Remote vintage, dog-friendly coach house
The property is an updated coach house with vintage charm that is situated on a former farm amid the family-owned properties. It was quite difficult to find in the dark on arrival (access is past a farm courtyard and there isn't any phone signal), but the remoteness meant lots of quiet and calm. We went there for its remoteness to get some end-of-year work done and to have some outdoor space for our miniature dachshund. The property has a small, fully enclosed garden that is escape-proof even for tiny dogs. You also get access to a very large grassy field that is fully enclosed and where the dog is allowed to run around. The owner Nigel was very lovely and responsive and came by regularly to check-in on whether everything was alright and to refill the wood for the furnace. The house comes with a large and a small towel per person and bedsheets. For longer stays, a change of towels and more than one kitchen towel might be helpful! We ended up using the washing machine to clean the ones we had, and would recommend providing a drying rack in the house. The furnace was definitely a highlight and so was the quiet. One suggestion might be to add a space heater upstairs, since the house is a bit drafty (as to be expected given it's from the 1650s or so!) and the master bedroom is in an open space/the stairway as part of a gallery and there's no heater. Either way, we'd definitely come back again :)

Fabulous Family Break In the Peak District
We had a wonderful time at Nigel's cottage in Aldwark A week in the October half term with our 2 boys, 10 and 12 and the dog. Nigel and his family made us feel so welcome, loaded us up with firewood for the wood burner and gave us great tips for dog friendly walks We had brilliant weather and did a couple of big hikes on the Peaks as well as just enjoying the cottage and the fields behind Thank you Nigel, we will be back, Anna and Family

Aldwark stay
Property was as listed and had read several reviews . Perfect for 2 adults and our dog, fenced off garden so we relax knowing our dog was safe. Rural location but only 20 minutes or less to Buxton, 15 to ashbourne, matlock or bakewell. Several local pubs but check online opening times especially if you would like food.

Nice stay
Nice, cosy, traditional cottage. Mostly quiet location but the yard is shared with the owners son and children, so not always very private! My children liked playing out with them on their trampoline though 😊 The owner and his family are around and available for any help you need. Very friendly and welcoming. Kitchen has all the things needed for cooking. Things to note: The main bedroom is more of a mezzanine level above the lounge with curtains rather than a wall. Not a problem for us though really. There is a sofa bed so the cottage can sleep 6, but it would be very cosy!! The only negative for me that it was a shame the nice views are not very visible from inside the cottage as the main windows look out onto the yard. A bigger sofa would be better. The 2 chairs are not ideal for relaxing in front of the tv on an evening.
