A magical ecological retreat for the sympathetic spirit.

  • 5 of 5

Snow arrived with us and by morning we were encased in a beautiful snow bound world. The village is at the end of a road, quiet and peaceful and closely surrounded by glorious mountains. The house is a world all of its own and completely magic and our hosts delightful, generous and a joy to meet. Lots of food stores and herbs and spices left by previous guests ready to use if needed. We are not walkers, but used it as a base to visit the Asturian pre Romanesque churches. Roads to them were often narrow, always beautiful and felt very safe. The snow ploughs were out immediately even on the highest mountain roads and everything was accessible.

The beekeepers cottage and its owners, who live underneath, are a most precious and secluded treasure.

A charming house, an authentic small village, a really natural park... and lovely people!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 1 week (aug. 26 - sept.02) in the beekeepers house in Pigueces, a very small village in the Asturian mountains, a region with forests, traditional agriculture, impressive valleys en beautyfull lakes.

The house is really authentic and characteristic for the region, built a few ages ago, with large granite stones. It has been renovated (kitchen, bathroom) with full respect for the original building; we appreciated the different small rooms, each with their own atmosphere and view.

The owners, Barbara and Stéphane, live downstairs. They speak English, French, German and Spanish and are always ready to help and to give information, but they showed also all the discretion you can need during holidays: the perfect hosts!

We enjoyed the silence and the quietness, the feeling to stay near to natural life: the sun was nice, but we loved also the clouds and the mist. We have to return to discover more paths in the region!

Thanks to Barbara and Stéphane!

Simple, peaceful and homely

  • 4 of 5

The house was comfortable and within a wonderful setting in a small village at the end of the valley. The narrow valley with steep sides produced a very quiet and peaceful atmosphere which was reinforced by the welcome afforded us by our hosts, Barbara and Stephane. They were able to provide us with information about the immediate surroundings and Somiedo in general.

Rustic getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely, rustic apartment. We stayed with our two young children who enjoyed the setting very much. The apartment was well equipped with all necessities and more. Barbara and Stefan were lovely hosts with excellent recommendations re: walks and activities in Somiedo. They even gave us some veg from their garden. The town is quiet and a bit out of the way of some walking/areas. All in all it was thoroughly enjoyable visit. Recommended.

Petit paradis dans le parc de somiedo

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5
