Our comfortable family-friendly house is a short walk to the center of the medieval village of Cabrieres d'Avignon with its baker, butcher, grocer, honey shop, and three restaurants. An easy walk to collect freshly baked bread and croissants for breakfast! Cabrieres has all the advantages of the Luberon National Park yet is not overwhelmed by tourists. The 3000-square-metre garden is a peaceful oasis on hot summer days with its Mediterranean trees & shrubs of olive, oleander, rosemary, lavender, and wild thyme . The landscaped swimming pool (10 meters x 5 meters)is in a sunny position with views of the Luberon and Les Alpilles Mountains. Bright south-facing house with 3 bedrooms, and two bathrooms plus a separate toilet, large open plan living/dining room, modern, spacious kitchen with superb double-oven cooker (SUITS KEEN COOKS!). The kitchen leads directly to the spacious patio with gas Weber BBQ, dining table, sun umbrellas, and views - the perfect spot for alfresco meals.
Two car open-sided garage for shade and secure parking on site.
We've always loved the Luberon region of France and decided to move here permanently in the early 2000's. Rosie and two dogs moved here from the Uk and Carlo from South Africa. In 2008 we were married here in our local Mairie (town hall) and by our neighbour who was then an assistant Mayor! The lifestyle in Provence is all we hoped for and more.
Rosemary Jackson purchased this villa in 2003
Cabrieres D'Avignon has always been one of our favourite villages and to find a house here was quite a surprise as there was little on the market at the time. We've spent many months and years renovating and improving the house as it was a very basic 'maison secondaire' (holiday home). The views, large garden and pool were the main draw. As they say, it comes down to 'location, location, location!'
Being able to walk to the centre of a beautiful village with an excellent baker, butcher and grocer. Everything to hand. Who could ask for more.
What a wonderful, relaxing time we've had! We were rather busy the first week visiting lots of sights , but have got gradually more lazy and the laid back Provencal lifestyle has become more embedded! The Grottes de Thouzon were stunning, well worth a trip and the Pont du Gard was amazing. The little villages are of course stunning and we had a very memorable lunch at L'Auberge de Lagnes. The house beautiful - so peaceful, and of course very well stocked with everything you could wish for. Thank you very much for all your tips Rosie!
We had a lovely stay in Rosie and Carlo's home. We consist of a family of four with children aged 1 and 4 plus one set of grandparents. The house was perfect for us. Three comfortable bedrooms, two bathrooms, a big living room and dining room and a big kitchen that was very well equipped. The house is charming and tastefully decorated and feels like a home. Outside there is a big table where we ate all our meals and sat in the evenings enjoying the warm summer evenings. Cabrieres-d'Avignon is a hidden gem. A picture perfect Provencal town and a lovely walk the 800m's down to the local baker every morning. We initially thought of spending our holiday closer to the sea, but Rosie and Carlo's house could not have been more perfect. With the swimming pool we did not miss or need the sea. We spent time sunbathing and swimming and had all we needed right at our doorstep. We had a car and that is strongly recommended. The whole area is stunningly beautiful. One picturesque village after another and gorgeous scenery. We fell in love with Gordes, Goult and Abbaye de Senanque, as well as Cabrieres-d'Avignon, but also visiting cities like Avignon, Orange and Aix en Provence were well worth a visit.
Rosie and Carlo turned out to be dream hosts. They were so warm and welcoming, ready to assist in case questions, and had written the most extensive and helpful holiday house and area manual we have ever come across.
For us the two weeks were absolutely perfect. The beauty and multitude of the area and a very comfortable and charming house with all you could possibly need.
Rosie and Carlo: Thank you for a wonderful time! We had such a great holiday and really enjoyed meeting you.
On the 28th of July we were warmly welcomed by Rosie and Carlo, the owners of Voix des Cedres. The house is fully equipped, clean and neat, and in nice harmony with the lovely garden (with view!). During the days the pool cooled us down and in the evening is was very nice to use the airconditioning in the bedroom.
Rosie and Carlo helped us very fast and adequate with a few additional needs.
We spend unforgettable evenings on the lovely sheltered patio.
We did not miss any of the highlights of the London 2012 Olympics because of the well equiped tv-set!
Last but not least: Cabrieres d'Avignon is a village from which it is easy to get to all the lovely other places in the Luberon, Avignon, Isle sur la Sorgues etc.
It started with a nice welcome from Rosie who provided us with all the necessary information on the house and the local area along with a plate of olives, cherries and fresh bread.
Our mornings each day consisted of visiting a village then returning home to lounge around the pool then dinner in the lovely alfresco area.
This house was perfect for our family (two teenage daughters).
We would love to visit again soon but for longer!
We would highly recommend Voix des Cedres for a holiday in Provence. The location is excellent - close to the main attractions of this beautiful area but off the tourist trail. The village is very attractive, quiet, and has good basic shops. Plus, of course, the local markets offer wonderful Provencal produce.
The house is very comfortable, well looked after and well appointed, especially the kitchen which is a treat for any cook. Walking and biking trails are accessible from the house, so this really is a place where you can relax, forget about the car and immerse yourself in Provence.
Rosie and Carlo are extremely hospitable. They are ready to answer any questions you may have whilst leaving you space to make your own discoveries. We enjoyed a blissful fortnight here and were truly sorry to leave.
We cannot recommend highly enough this beautiful Provencal holiday home. We arrived at the villa to find fresh bread, fruit, olives, milk and a bottle of wine. Rosieand Carlo are extremely thoughtful, and this was in evidence throughout our stay. They have provided a comprehensive'holiday' file, with recommendations for restaurants, activities, market days etc. We didn't have to think too hard about how we were going to spend our days, all the information we needed was provided.
Their house is tastefully decorated, very, very comfortable and on lazier days it was a pleasure to hang around the pool... such hardship!!
The villa is in a beautiful and peaceful location and yet within walking distance of the charming village of Cabrieres d'Avignon. We highly recommend this property and would love to return for another holiday.
We would highly recommend this accomodation for a superb holiday. It was secluded yet close to restaurants and a beautiful village. Property was of an excellent standard, great pool and all the extras we needed. The owners were very welcoming and helpful also. It was our first time in Provence and we plan to return. Thanks for a great holiday!
This area of Provence has an above average sunshine record. Good restaurants and vineyards abound so this is a haven for gastronomic adventures. The villages made famous by Peter Mayle in 'A Year in Provence' are well within half an hour’s drive (Bonnieux, Menerbes, Lacoste) and Gordes (‘un des plus beau village de France’) is even closer. Isle sur la Sorgue with its canals and famous Sunday antique market is just around the corner as is the beautiful village of Fontaine de Vaucluse. The Ochre mines at Roussillon are a must. Provencal markets are daily in this region. The surrounding countryside has vineyards, lavender and sunflower fields, wooded hillsides, ochre cliffs, gorges and gullies. The Roman cities of Avignon, Arles, Nimes, are an easy drive. Marseille. St Remy de Provence.Aix and the Camargue make interesting day trips as does the famous aqueduct 'the Pont du Gard'. Seafood restaurants and beaches are at Cassis, barely a 1 hour drive.
