Russett Cottage is a newly built flint and brick cottage (June 2011) finished to an extremely high specification. The cottage is designed in a period style and they combine character with modern fittings. It occupies a delightful semi - rural spot at the end of a farm lane, with paddocks and farmland all round. The comfortable accommodation will easily house four people, with a double bedroom on the ground floor, along with a super en-suite shower room, and a twin room on the first floor, along with a bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped with modern fittings including a dishwasher and washing machine. The living and dining area is open plan to the kitchen, making it ideal for families to enjoy together. There is a lovely conservatory off the living room, which overlooks the garden area and the countryside beyond. There is internet access available at the cottage. Should a group of up to 12 wish to stay, there are 2 neighbouring cottage which, subject to availability, could be booked as well.
The property was in excellent condition, clean and well-equipped (although there were some bizarre exceptions; a property with two butter dishes and ten wine glasses did not have any mugs or soup bowls...). It withstood a horrible weekend's weather well.
On the downside, it was a little soulless. A handful of books or boardgames would have been nice. The upstairs was curiously laid out, with little headroom for our teenager. And neither toilet flushed very well.
Overall a perfectly good stay at a reasonable price. It's a shame we couldn't have brought our dogs, the property and grounds would have been ideal for them.
