Located in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of Central California, near Yosemite National Park (30 minutes from the Hwy 41 southern entrance) Bass Lake is a recreation destination for those who enjoy water sports and the types of recreation and relaxation that only a wooded mountain lake can provide. Bass Lake is optimally positioned for a mild climate in the Yellow Pine belt at an elevation of 3500 feet. This custom built recreation home is located on a quiet cul-de-sac in the Marina View subdivision. The rental includes membership in the private Marina View Heights Dock Association, which entitles guests to use the association's launch ramp, boat dock, and water-front recreation facilities. The three story home includes two levels of redwood decking and commands a panoramic view of the distant mountains and foot hills stretching into the San Juaquin Valley. (Note: this property is not lake-front. The marina area is a short 3-5 minute walk away).

The 1600 square foot home sleeps 10 with three bedrooms, and three bathrooms (one Calif King, one Queen, one Queen sleeper-sofa, and two Double Bunks). The kitchen/living room area is situated on the second floor with picture-frame windows that extend over the entire front of the house. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, the laundry area and garage are situated on the ground level. The loft bedroom, which overlooks the second floor, and includes its own bathroom, is accessed from the second floor via a spiral staircase. Lake area summer recreation activities include: hiking, backpacking, camping, fishing (a virtual fisherman paradise), swimming, skiing, jet-skiing, and just about any kind of boating (e.g., power boating, canoeing, sailing, rafting).

Note: Two day minimum**. Check-in is after 4:00pm. Check-out is before 10:00am. Linens provided (all sheets), plus bath/shower towels, wash rags, kitchen towels, toilet paper). Consumables not provided: Kitchen paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, washing machine soap, trash bags, alu foil, plastic wrap, etc.

Winter recreation includes cross country and alpine skiing at Badger Pass Ski Area, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling in the high Sierras. Major area attractions include Yosemite National Park, the Sugarpine Rail Road (old steam engine logger), the Ansel Adams and other wilderness areas, and the Golden Chain Highway (Hwy. 49) areas (named after the Gold Rush). A 5 minute drive from Marina View brings you to the charming Pines Village where there are restaurants, shops, a post office, market, bar, gas station, and a full service Marina and boat launch. Additional restaurants, shops and services may be found 10 to 15 minutes from the lake in the surrounding towns of Oakhurst and North Fork.

Bass Lake is located 3 1/2 hours from the San Francisco Bay area, and 5 1/2 hours from the Los Angeles area.

Built in 1986, Specifically Designed as a Vacation Rental Includes Boat Slip and Use of Private Marina, and Boat Launch Area. Also included are two Levels of Redwood Decks, Living Area with Vaulted Ceiling, and Free-Standing Wood stove with Rock Hearth Setting. Fully Equipped remodeled Kitchen Includes new SS appliances and new granite countertops. Microwave, Dishwasher, LCD TVs & TV with integrated DVD-VHS (bunk room), WIFI, Barbecues, Coffee Maker, Ceiling Fans in Living Room, Washer/Drier, and Asphalt Drive/Parking. Ping pong and Foosball in garage.

Bass Lake has been a popular vacation destination for nearly 100 years. Construction of a hydroelectric dam at the southern end of Crane Valley across the North Fork of Willow Creek began in 1899. The lake reached its current level in 1909 with the completion of the current earth-filed dam. It is currently operated by Pacific Gas and Electric Company. At an elevation of 3,500 feet, Bass Lake gets some winter snow with mild spring and fall temperatures. Area activities include hiking, mountain biking, fishing, sightseeing, and visits to Yosemite National Park. In addition to recreation, the water is used to generate electricity and to irrigate the San Juaquin Valley's rich farmland. The lake normally fills in late spring and is lowered in the fall for flood control purposes which makes room for the run-off from winter rains and the following spring snow-melt.

Bass Lake has been the backdrop for many TV commercials and motion pictures including the Academy Award winning "Leave her to Heaven" (1945), "The Deerslayer" (1957), "The Great Outdoors" (1988), "Meatballs 4" (1992), and most recently, "Mouse Hunt" (1997).

Nice place to stay
All in all a very nice place to stay. Had trouble with the door code to get in so needed to use the hidden key in combination lockbox. Would have been helpful when trying to get keys out of lockbox that instructions stated that CCW means counter clockwise and CW means clockwise, maybe most people knows this but fortunately one of us did because of his job. Also main level heater takes a long time to come on if it ever does. Heater never came on the morning we left. Downstairs heater was supposed to already be on when we arrived and it wasn't. We never attempted to light this heater because it said to open window when starting and weren't comfortable with that, maybe normal but not for us. The owners are very good with communications either by email or in the home where there are directions and information all through the whole house which was great!

Great Bass Lake access
We loved how close the house was to the lake and having the boat slip was perfect. No hassles with getting in and out with the boat. The house was in a nice neighborhood and had everything we needed.

Great little get away spot
The owners of this property couldn’t have been nicer. From start to finish the owners were very communicative and easy to work with. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils and pots and pans. If you have a favorite knife, I recommend bringing it.All in all a pleasant stay.

My brother and I grew up in Bass Lake during the late 60's and early 70's. We had since moved away to college, and gotten jobs in SoCal. We wanted to maintain a presence in our home town so we decided to have a rental property "cabin" built. We bought the property in 1985 at the south end of the lake at Marina View. We designed it from scratch and got a contractor to build it. They started in May of 1986 and finished the end of July. We had our first renters immediately in August 1986, and have been renting it ever since. In the spring of 2016 we signed up for VRBO advertising.

What makes this property unique

The property is situated in a quiet subdivision at the south end of the lake, called Marina View.
