About this property

Rustic early 1900's Cabin 3 Queen,2 bedroom,2 outlets.Little Trail Creek Cabins

Take a step back in time and imagine yourself as one of the original Homesteaders in the Wild West. Live like the original settlers did,(with a few modern conviences). Just three miles from Yellowstone Hot Springs! Short stays will be considered if there is only a couple nights available between other bookings for an additional fee. Please message me. Scenic views from every part of this 13 acre property. Little Trail Creek is 10 feet away from the cabin and flows throughout the property. The horse pasture borders the yard space. Elk & deer are on the property daily. 2 room rustic cabin. Main room has a table and chairs , hutch & a wood stove. Second room has two queen beds & cot. There is also a second shack with a queen bed available for an extra $50 per night for larger groups. There is one outlet & one chandelier in each room. There is a separate brand new modern shower house with shower, sink, vanity, changing area and toilet two feet from the Homestead. Directly across the road from the Yellowstone River. This cabin is not for city dwellers. If you are afraid of natures critters, please see the listing for hotels in town or one of our other listings for the Sage, Lookout or Aspen cabins. There is a possibility of field mice or bugs wandering into the cabin. Please store all food in the root cellar. There is a padlock on the door. We are trying to preserve the cabin as much as possible. It is approx 150 yards from the highway but feels like 1,000. There is a 15 ft tall fence by the road. Let the kids pan for gold and play in the creek. Open campfire site for cooking. BBQ grill. Pots, pans, plates, utensils, lanterns, candles, bedding and towels all provided! Hike right from the back yard into the Absaroka Wilderness.Follow the trail up Little Trail Creek. Go 4 miles into the little town of Gardiner, Montana. 4 miles from Historic Roosevelt Arch - North Entrance to Yellowstone. 45 mins to Livingston, Montana. 58 miles to Bozeman International Airport.

Great place to sleep while exploring Yellowstone. They had bear spray, coolers, fishing poles all for use. My kids enjoyed the trampoline and gold panning in the creek. I wish it had a mini fridge but otherwise no complaints. Lot of elk to see in Gardiner.

Turn back time
The cabin was even better than we anticipated. Off-grid to say the least. (wifi was available and working well) Our family truly enjoyed getting to stay in this original homestead and thinking about what it would have been like over 100 years ago for it's original occupants. The modern bathroom was the balancing agent to this time-travel adventure. Everything was very clean and well-kept. The beds were quite comfy, and critters were at a minimum, considering the age, rustic build, and geographical location. The hosts were great at communicating way before we arrived, letting us know of things to do in and around the area during our stay. If you are looking for a "reset" to your high-tech, fast-paced daily grind, this place is perfect.

We fully understand the importance of a clean environment. I have been a nurse for twenty years. I thoroughly clean every cabin between stays.
We are a local Mom & Pop small business that enjoy sharing our little piece of Paradise (Valley) with guests. There are four cabins on 13 acres, 4 miles from Yellowstone National Park & Yellowstone Hot Springs in Gardiner, Montana. The back yard is thousands of miles of public land to explore on Little Trail Creek. It is the perfect setting to relax, explore, exercise, reset, whatever you need to do!

Why they chose this property

It's the Last Best Place! We purchased the property in April 2016 from the Stermitz family. It has been in their family for four generations. There is historic memorabilia throughout the property.

What makes this property unique

Babysitting available most nights. Pet sitting available most days. Outdoor campfire Cowboy cookout available most nights, western ham & beans cooked over an open fire in a cast iron with corn bread & a s’mores marshmallow bar for dessert. Call ahead to make arrangements! Horseshoes, corn hole, washers, fishing poles, bats, balls local books & more are available to guests. Come out west to experience the great outdoors. Don't stay in a cookie cutter box. Stay like a local in the early 1900's,( with a few modern conveniences). Elk & deer are on the property most every day of the year. Bear are likely in the fall.

Do not use map quest ect for directions. It is located at 430 HWY 89 S. It is four miles from Gardiner, not in Gardiner! It is in between the 4 & 5 mile marker. Please also see pics provided.
