Marge Padgitt purchased this House in 2012
Why Marge Padgitt chose Independence
We like to buy older homes and restore them to original condition, keeping as many of the original features as possible. This house is right next to our office and we wanted to purchase it since there is a shared driveway. It took a while to find the time to do the remodeling and it was quite an extensive project, but well worth the effort as people often comment on the remodeling job which took two years to complete.
What makes this House unique
Original restored woodwork and doors, original kitchen cabinets from 1920 when the house was built, antiques throughout, big front porch, and nice back patio area with a Weber grill and wood-fired brick oven which guests may cook pizza, breads, or meals in. We provide wood for the oven, a cookbook, and instructions for using the oven are in the guest book. This house is an example of a Craftsman Style Bungalow.

Cute, clean place
Great location to ballpark. Clean and wonderful house. Comfy beds!!
Description a little misleading. Nightly rate is only for 4 people but says it sleeps 8.
Very much as described in listing. Cute, clean & accommodating for families or small groups. Didn’t get to use wood fire grill as it takes several hours to prepare it. Outdoor grill & firepit were a nice option instead! Has several amenities, condiments, coffee, etc including fresh eggs from their chickens on sight!! Wonderful touch!! Perfect for our weekend getaway to World of Fun!!
Thanks for the great review and we hope you'll keep us in mind for future visits to the area!
Memorial Day weekend in KC for Royals baseball
The family rented this home over the memorial day weekend to watch some baseball games. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The owners were very responsive to our needs. I would stay here again the next time we go to KC. Pizza oven and fire pit in the back yard looked great but we didn't get a chance to use because of all the rain. I would recommend this home.
Thanks so much for leaving a nice review - I'm glad you enjoyed staying here. Please keep us in mind for your next visit!
Our stay was very enjoyable. The house is very clean and had everything we needed right there. The décor is charming while not getting in the way of convenience or comfort. Management was responsive and available without being intrusive. The location is great for a number of activities. The internet was easy to access and I am sure that the multiple televisions would have been enjoyable if we had any spare time for this trip! Parking is a bit tight for more than one vehicle - but workable. We will stay again at our next opportunity!

Great spot, cozy vibe, lots of character!
My group of 6 stayed here for 4 nights recently. Within 10 minutes of being at the property we had already began to feel at home. Very cozy place, with wonderful furnishings and decor. The hosts are always nearby or on hand to accommodate any requests or concerns and were able to promptly do so. Didn't get a chance to use the back area much but it would be very beautiful to use come spring and summer. We had no spouses or kids present this trip but I could see this being an excellent spot for families and couples. Happy travels!
I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and thanks so much for the great review. We strive to make everything as nice as possible. I do hope that you will stay with us again when you are in the area.
All the modern conveniences in an old, charming house
We enjoyed staying here. Lots of room to move about--three bedrooms was nice. Kitchen and bathrooms are remodeled and clean. Wonderful hotel-like touches such as soap, toothpaste, and shampoo. A TV in every room, fairly comfortable beds, soft linens... Thanks for the farm-fresh eggs, and let me say that the Brita water pitcher in the fridge and ice in the freezer were SO APPRECIATED. Management resolved an issue with the wi-fi going out promptly. Thank you, Marge, Gene and Frank.
