About Everett Bedenbaugh
We are a retired couple who love adventure and people. Married for 39 years we honeymooned at Sugar Mountain, N.C. and learned to snow ski. And, we are still skiing! We live full time on a lake in South Carolina, and have fulfilled our dream of having a cool, quiet place in the Western North Carolina Mountains.
Everett Bedenbaugh purchased this House in 2007
Why Everett Bedenbaugh chose Lake Toxaway
We love hiking area parks, riding and picnicking on the Blue Ridge Parkway, all the great restaurants and friends we have discovered here and then come back to our Lake Toxaway home and sleep with the windows open at night while the cool mountain air drifts through the house. When we were house hunting, we wanted a home that was private but in a secure neighborhood where friends like to gather and really care for each other.
What makes this House unique
The very first time we came up the driveway, our eyes caught sight of the charming 'tree cutouts' on the shutters and the outdoor space ideal for gathering around a fire. Then inside the 'tree cutouts' were repeated on the staircase to the loft, the high ceilings and wood beams told us that a master carpenter had worked his magic here. It was important that we have plenty of room for family, friends and guests for entertaining both indoors and outdoors.

Feels like staying with a friend
Everything was clean and inviting. Plenty of the essentials were present in the home enabling us to cook during our stay. Instructions were clear and thorough.
Owners were very communicative. One of a few of our uses of this type of rental process but I can only hope our future rentals are owned by such awesome owners!
House was nestled up in the woods, not stacked on top of other people. Gas fire stove kept us toasty while we rested in the living room which has plenty of seating. Plenty of fans to move air around for whatever your preference. Hot water ran out quickly when one of our other guests decided to use the luxury shower jets before anyone else got to bathe, so be mindful of that.
Great place to stay!
Warm Fall, Pleasant Mountains
We really enjoyed the home at Indian Lakes. Although the weather was warm, the shaded and quiet location was always pleasant. The home was well appointed, and the home owner was fantastic to work with and very informative. Each morning or during the evening there were showers of rain or heavy dew that cooled the air and brought the forest to life. We really liked the expansive decks; great for star gazing and bird watching. It was as if the hummingbirds were waiting for the feeder we put up! Bandit (the dog) rated it a 4 paws up, lots of chipmunks to chase (he never catches them, but he loves to chase) and a nice cool deck to nap on. Great stay for getting away!
Relaxing, comfortable home
Your home and property are beautiful. The accommodations were very comfortable. I was impressed that all the important 'basics' in the kitchen and bathrooms were provided. You actually had knives that cut!!!! Your description didn't make it clear that neither room in the loft had a door but this was only a minor problem for us. Thank you for your attention to the details.
Thanks for the kind review. Regretful that you were not aware of the open concept of a loft. The property description attempts to make this clear with the following statement:
"Upstairs is a large, open loft with a QUEEN bedroom with privacy screen, closet, TWIN bedroom with closet and shared full bath with shower/tub."
I'm considering adjustments to the description to make the openness of the loft clearer.
Again, thank you for renting our house and for your review.
Great spot in the mountains!
My family and I stayed here and it was great for us. The location is in between Cashiers and Brevard and was pretty convenient. The house itself has lot of amenities and was very clean. Would recommend staying here with a bigger group.
A wonderful place to unwind!
This was our first time to the Lake Toxaway area. We enjoyed the trails in nearby Gorges State Park, and canoeing down the French Broad out of nearby Rosman.
We were extremely pleased with the cabin. It was clean, well appointed, and in such a beautiful setting. With the waterfall at the entry, the picnic firepit patio, and the large decks on the front and rear, all making it easy to enjoy the surrounding natural beauty.
If you're looking for a place to get away from it all, in comfort and luxury, I can highly recommend this cabin.
Beautiful Mountain Getaway
We had a family get together at this wonderful location. Our family got together from Kentucky, Florida and Texas in this beautiful mountain home. We enjoyed the nearby waterfalls and scenery at the National Parks. We played games at home in the evenings. We enjoyed the well-stocked basics in the kitchen and ate at home every night. We recommend Zen Tubing with a packed picnic lunch.
My only regret is that we didn’t book the rental for more than a week.
