Deceptive photos

Be careful when booking this property. There are at least 2 apartments in this location, and the pictures are of the OTHER apartment. This one is on the ground floor (so right on a busy street), and has NO WINDOWS in the bedrooms (so only a window in the living room on the busy street). It was depressing and dark. At the check-in, they insisted that i had selected this apartment --supposedly clear on their website (barcelona4rent) but it was not clear on HomeAway. We had reserved two stays about a week apart and for the second stay we got the other apartment, MUCH better, 4th floor, two balconies, one on a quiet courtyard. I don't remember doing anything different for the two stays, which i did at the same time. And the crummy apartment was more expensive. The toaster was broken. Otherwise, the place was stocked with coffee, soap and toilet paper (we've had places where there was nothing). They did not charge for using a credit card (again, some places do). No parking available on site, you have to go up the street--- but don't have a car in BCN unless you're planning on day trips out of the city. We chose this for the location (relatives in the area), it's quiet and residential and with convenient stores.

Very large and comfortable unit. Felt like being home.

We thought the unit would be too far from city center but it is very near a small metro line that runs right into Placa Catalunya. Short walk up to the apartment in the evening from the metro past a small market and a bakery which were great places to pick up some wine and breakfast snacks. Walking downtown was only 20 minutes and was downhill. Barcelona streets felt very safe in the neighborhood around the apartment. Barcelona is a great city and the metro/bus system is easy to use and is all in Goggle Maps. Staff at the office were very friendly and helpful. We arrived in the morning and they let us into the unit early. If it wasn't ready they would have checked our bags so we could visit the city and check in later. We were in Barcelona 5 days and still didn't see everything. We will be going back.
