FUNNY FARM
Designed by artist Randy Polumbo
Bellport, Long Island

This 200 year old timber frame barn was rescued from near collapsing by artist Randy Polumbo. Using a collapsed barn for parts, every inch is old wood, all natural and non toxic materials. Most of the barn is built of salvaged materials from NYC construction projects with Calatrava’s discarded Bathtub, an outdoor shower from the Sherry Netherland Hotel, and parts from glorious uptown mansions and brooklyn factories alike. Enjoy chilling out in the hammock, the yard, or bike to the beach or cook a major meal in the spacious well appointed kitchen. What makes it “funny” are numerous amusing features like the giant iron bell and string to fire it, that Randy’s mom could not recall “bellport” and calls the town “bellevue” to this day. This is a very relaxing space where anything or nothing is enjoyable from crafts, music, cooking to a work project.

This is a fantastic property, with amazing hosts!
A beautiful restored upgraded barn with all the modern comforts and necessities - nothing has been left behind. This is the best appointed house we've rented. Excellent Hosts very accommodating. Our kids loved it as did we. Would highly recommend it to anyone - couples, families, young or old. Close walking distance to everything. We had an amazing time!

Well stocked home with a rustic, unique design
A group of us had a very pleasant stay that provided a great environment to make good memories. Everything was clean and organized. The house had everything that we needed from kitchen appliances to toiletries. There are many nooks and crannies that were fun to explore. The fireplace was delightful and nice to converge around for conversation. Comfortably spacious for a group. Larry was easy to communicate with and was direct about expectations of the home.

Amazing!!
The house was beautiful, the pictures don't give its interior the justice it deserves! Larry was SO helpful throughout the entire process and the house tips list had anything you could ever think of. Truly a great experience

Amazing Spot!
I rented this house with some friend's for my fiance's birthday in September and we had an amazing experience. Randy and Larry were so helpful with all questions we had and even reached out to the village council to ensure the ferry operator to Bellport Beach allowed us on as guests. We had a perfect beach day and it was wonderful to come back to the house and cook a big meal with our friends. The house had absolutely everything we needed, and plenty of beds, bathrooms, and space to comfortably accommodate a big group. Randy's house is truly spectacular, it is so clear it is owned by an artist! Having grown up in the area, I was very excited to share Bellport with our friends from the city, and this house was the perfect way to do so. All of our friends hope to come back and rent the house again!

Why they chose this property

Village of Bellport, NY
A quaint, bucolic village located on the South Shore of Long Island, Bellport Village has long been a destination for both day trippers and summer residents. It offers a variety of shopping and dining opportunities, along with one of the most well-known summer theatres in the region. Bellport is one of the rare municipalities with its own golf course and tennis complex, an ocean side beach and a bay side beach.
Founded by Captains Thomas and John Bell in the early 1800s and originally designed to be a seaport, life in Bellport has centered around the Great South Bay for almost two centuries. It was once the main source of revenue for many residents who fished and clammed off its shores. It continues to offer many recreational activities including boating and fishing in warmer months and ice boating in the winter.

Visitors and residents alike can often be seen strolling down the quiet roads leading to the bay, many with historic homes dating back to the 1800s. Quaint Victorians sit along side houses done in the Greek Revival style. Many homes feature white clapboard siding and green plantation shutters, giving Bellport the look of small town New England.

Beach lovers enjoy Ho-Hum Beach, located on Fire Island between Smiths Point County Park and Watch Hill/Fire Island National Seashore which is serviced by the Village ferry, the Whalehouse Point. Mother’s Beach, located on the Bay, offers a closer alternative and is often filled with families enjoying a day at the beach.

The Bellport Country Club is one of the oldest on Long Island, dating back to 1899. Golfers enjoy a unique experience on this Seth Raynor designed course, as the winds off the Great South Bay can change a ball’s trajectory in the blink of an eye. Its signature hole, the dog-leg 15th, was created by Robert Trent-Jones in 1961.

What makes this property unique

The Barn and Cottage is a beautiful and rustic design bringing two barns over a century old, creating one unique home structure attached to the old country cottage immersing the visitor into another time and place for a true country get away.
