Cathlene Crain purchased this House in 2014
Why Cathlene Crain chose Bid-a-wee Beach
We started going to PCB in the 1990's, and fell in love with it. We continued vacationing here over the years. When the opportunity came for us to buy this home, in the beautiful protected area of Bid-A-Wee, it was a dream come true!
What makes this House unique
If the gorgeous views of the gulf from every window in the home weren't enough, you can get a 'birds eye' view from the Pelican's Nest!

Amazing is an understatement
Everything about this process was wonderful. From booking to getting there the day of and during our entire stay we were very pleased. Cathlene was very helpful and made us feel so welcomed staying on her property. The property itself is in the perfect location and is by far the cleanest house I have ever stayed in. It was the perfect space and set up with incredible views. The lookout was a great space to drink our coffee in the morning while watching the waves and birds. My family loved it so much they we will definitely be returning next summer for our vacation.
Excellent for 2 families!
The house was perfect for our group of 4 adults and 3 kids. Each bedroom had plenty of privacy from the others. The beach view was great! Traffic on the street in front of the house was busy, especially in the evenings but the walk to the beach was short and the beach was not crowded at all! Our only recommendation is to bring your own small grill, if you want to be able to grill some of your meals.
Very nice home right across the street from the ocean.
Beautiful uncrowded beach
I came here with my significant other and our 6 kids (all under 10). The house accommodated us all comfortably with the little guys sleeping on the sleeper sofa. We came during Memorial Day weekend and it was a madhouse with lots of crazy traffic and Walmart was ransacked! The house was in a great spot with close access to the amazing beach. The road right in front was so busy with lots of spring break type people riding rented golf carts and mopeds, blasting music and honking. It didn’t really bother us in the house though, and we slept well. The kitchen is well appointed with whatever you might need, but be warned- there’s no way to grill food and the glass cooktop was tricky! Lots of burned pancakes and turning on the vent to air the place out :). Cathlene was very nice and checked on us throughout our stay. The house was clean, there were some beach toys, 2 Umbrellas and a few beach chairs, but we drove and drought a canopy which was awesome, and I used my own chairs. Shipwreck island water park was a BLAST and the cute little putt putt place down the street was really fun. We had a nice family time and the kids loved it all. The most amazing part was the beach- we saw sting rays gliding in the water and actually caught a fish off the beach! The private beach was a God send given the crazy holiday weekend- at 9am we had the whole thing to ourselves most days.
First time staying at a beach house and I LOVED the Pelican’s Nest!!
The owner was so sweet and attentive the whole stay; only a text or phone call away for any questions I had. The house was at the perfect location, close enough to Pier Park, but not too terribly busy with traffic. Everything was so clean and well kept. My husband and I loved Bid-A-Wee.
This home was beautiful and probably the cleanest we've ever stayed. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed for a great vacation...including a fabulous view!
